It can indicate a temporary service problem, but outdated app files, browser data, VPNs, unstable internet, blocked location permissions, or an account or jurisdiction restriction can produce the same message. The fastest way to separate an outage from a local problem is to test the website and app on different networks and devices before changing account or payment settings.

Check whether DraftKings is down
Run these tests in order and note exactly what changes:
- Open draftkings.com in a browser and open the DraftKings app you use.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data, or from cellular data to a different Wi-Fi network.
- Try another browser or device.
- Check whether other websites and apps work normally.
- See whether the failure affects Sportsbook, Casino, Fantasy Sports, Pick6, or only one product.
- Review the Help Center and official support channels. A user-report outage tracker can provide a clue, but reports from users are not official confirmation.

A generic error that appears only on one connection is not enough evidence to call an outage.

What “Network Error” means
DraftKings uses “Network Error” as a nonspecific connection failure. Possible causes include:
- A temporary DraftKings service disruption.
- Weak or unstable Wi-Fi or cellular service, or an ISP routing problem.
- Corrupted app cache or local browser data.
- An outdated app, browser, operating system, or device clock.
- A VPN, proxy, remote-desktop tool, hotspot, ad blocker, privacy extension, or corporate or school filter interfering with the connection.
- Location Services disabled, browser location permission denied, or a desktop connected only by Ethernet.
- An account, verification, licensing, or jurisdiction restriction.
- A disconnected live session that must be re-entered.
DraftKings specifically advises enabling Wi-Fi and location services and disabling VPNs, proxies, and hotspots. Its desktop guidance also warns that geolocation may not work when a computer uses only a wired connection. See DraftKings’ Fantasy Sports troubleshooting and desktop troubleshooting.
Fixes, from least disruptive to most disruptive
1. Force-close and restart the app
- Log out if the app still responds.
- Remove DraftKings from the iPhone app switcher or Android recent-apps screen.
- Reopen it and sign in again.
This is also the first-line sequence in DraftKings’ service guidance: restart, close, reopen, and sign in.
2. Update the correct DraftKings app
Open the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, search for the DraftKings app for the product and market you use, and install any available update. App names can differ by product and jurisdiction. Restart the device if the error remains.

3. Clear app cache or data
Android: go to Settings → Apps (or Applications) → DraftKings → Storage → Clear cache. Reopen the app. Use Clear storage or Clear data only later; it can sign you out and remove local settings.
iPhone or iPad: iOS does not provide a universal cache button. Go to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → DraftKings, choose Offload App when available, then reinstall. Delete and reinstall only if needed. Confirm your login credentials and access to two-factor authentication first.

4. Restart the browser and clear site data
- Log out of DraftKings.
- Close the browser completely and reopen it.
- Sign in again.
- If necessary, clear the DraftKings cache and cookies, then retry.
Clearing cache removes temporary files. Clearing cookies or site data can sign you out and reset location permissions. A private or incognito window is useful as a diagnostic test, but it may have different authentication and location behavior. DraftKings recommends Google Chrome for the best connection experience, while also listing Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge as supported options; Chrome is not mandatory. 5. Disable VPNs, proxies, hotspots, and filters
Temporarily turn off VPN apps, browser or system proxy settings, remote-desktop software, mobile hotspots, aggressive ad or privacy extensions, and corporate, school, or public-network filtering. A VPN is especially unsuitable as a workaround for a regulated sportsbook because it can prevent geolocation or make you appear to be in an unsupported jurisdiction. DraftKings explicitly recommends disabling VPNs, proxies, and hotspots.
6. Correct location permissions
On a phone:
- Turn on device Location Services.
- Allow the DraftKings app to use location.
- Keep Wi-Fi enabled even when using cellular data.
- Disable mock-location or developer-location features.
- Avoid VPNs and remote-access tools.
On a computer:
- Turn on Wi-Fi.
- Allow location access for the browser when prompted.
- Do not rely only on Ethernet; DraftKings says its geolocation plugin may not work with a wired-only connection.
- Try Chrome if another browser cannot complete location verification.
Location rules differ by product and jurisdiction, so enabling location will not resolve every Network Error.
7. Restart the network
- Toggle Airplane Mode briefly on a phone, then turn it off.
- Reboot the router and modem.
- Test another Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
If DraftKings works elsewhere, the original network is the likely fault. Contact the ISP or network administrator before changing advanced DNS settings.
8. Reinstall only after preserving account access
Before uninstalling, confirm the account email or phone number, access to two-factor authentication, and any error details. Do not reinstall while a live casino session, pending deposit, or unresolved wager needs documenting. Reinstallation can repair damaged local files, but it cannot fix an outage, unsupported jurisdiction, or account restriction.

Sportsbook: protect wagers during an error
A failed confirmation screen does not prove that a wager failed. A bet can be accepted while the connection is dropping.
- Check Bet Slip, My Bets, account history, and email confirmations before trying again.
- Do not submit a duplicate wager simply because the screen did not update.
- Capture the time, event, market, stake, error text, and any confirmation or reference number.
- If the status is pending or unclear, stop retrying and contact DraftKings.
Casino: recover a disconnected game carefully
A disconnected game is not necessarily abandoned or lost. DraftKings says to return to the Casino homepage and use the Recent section to reopen the most recently played game when available. Do not launch new games repeatedly until the earlier session’s status is clear. Live-dealer games may have separate handling rules; DraftKings maintains a dedicated casino troubleshooting section and guidance for live-dealer disconnections.

When to stop troubleshooting and contact DraftKings
Contact support if the error continues across devices and networks; a wager, entry, deposit, withdrawal, or game session has an unclear status; a specific account feature fails after login; you receive a jurisdiction, verification, or restriction message; or a time-sensitive contest or live event is affected.
DraftKings says support is available through its chatbot. Logged-out users may need to verify an email to open a case. U.S. Sportsbook and Casino customers may request a callback while logged in; callback availability does not apply to Fantasy Sports customers. DraftKings also lists @DK_Assist as a support channel. Include the product, device and operating system, app or browser version, exact error text, date and time with time zone, state or province, Wi-Fi versus cellular result, whether the website also fails, screenshots or a recording, and any bet, contest, game, deposit, or withdrawal identifier.

- Every device and network fails: treat it as a possible DraftKings-side or regional issue and avoid duplicate transactions.
- Only one device fails: restart, update, clear cache or site data, and check permissions.
- Only one network fails: switch networks and investigate the router, ISP, or filter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does DraftKings require Wi-Fi for every feature?
No. DraftKings’ guidance says Wi-Fi should be enabled for certain location workflows; it does not establish that every DraftKings feature requires Wi-Fi. Cellular data can work when location verification succeeds.
Will reinstalling DraftKings delete my account?
No. Reinstalling removes local app files and may sign you out, but it does not delete the account. Confirm your credentials and two-factor access first.
Can I use a VPN to get DraftKings working?
That is not recommended. DraftKings advises disabling VPNs and proxies because they can interfere with location verification and jurisdiction checks.
