Not as a publicly verified, standalone offer. As of August 18, 2026, Rogers promotes student-only mobile deals, but its public student page does not show a plan specifically priced at $55 per month with 20GB. Rogers’ public $55 plan is a different offer: it provides 60GB of high-speed data, requires Rogers Internet or TV service, and is priced after Auto-Pay. A student-only $55/20GB deal could still appear after eligibility screening, through a targeted message, or in a Rogers Preferred Program portal, but you should not treat it as a universal Rogers offer without seeing its written terms.
What Rogers publicly confirms for students
Rogers has a dedicated student-offer page. The page asks applicants to submit information to view individualized plans and offers; it does not publicly display the exact combination of 20GB for $55 per month. That distinction matters: a portal-only or targeted promotion is not the same as a deal available to every student browsing Rogers’ public plans.
Rogers’ Preferred Program student portal likewise indicates that eligibility proof may be required. It says offers are limited-time and can change without notice. A qualifying student may therefore see a plan that another visitor cannot, or may see different pricing based on province, customer status, school or association affiliation, or promotion.
The current public $55 Rogers plan is a different offer
| Item | What the public page shows | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $55 per month after Auto-Pay | That every student qualifies, or that $55 is the final bill after taxes and fees |
| Data | 60GB of high-speed data, followed by unlimited data at reduced speeds | A 20GB student allowance |
| Service requirement | Rogers Internet or TV service is required | A standalone one-line mobile plan |
| Calling and texting | Canada-wide talk and text | The inclusions of any separate portal-only student plan |
| Customer context | Shown on Rogers’ general mobile-plan page | A student discount or student eligibility |
See the current offer at Rogers’ mobile-plan page. Because the displayed price depends on both Auto-Pay and a Rogers Internet or TV subscription, it should not be advertised as “Rogers’ standalone $55 student plan.” The amount can also vary with line count and plan tier.

Why the “20GB for $55” wording appears online
An old Public Mobile student announcement
The exact “20GB for $55” wording appears in a 2022 Public Mobile student-plan announcement. That is historical Public Mobile material, not evidence of a current Rogers promotion. Search snippets and reposts can easily remove the carrier name or date.
A Rogers shared-data document
A Rogers Advantage Mobility schedule lists a “20GB Shared Speed Pass” at $55. A shared speed pass or add-on is not the same thing as a consumer monthly student plan with 20GB included, so it cannot verify the headline claim.
Targeted or retailer-only offers
A Rogers email, text message, MyRogers notification, school or employer arrangement, retailer flyer, or Preferred Program login may reveal terms that are not indexed on the public website. Such an offer can be genuine while still being restricted to the named recipient or membership group.

- We recently increased high-speed data allotments on every plan (but kept the same low pricing)! You may see a 5GB sticker on the front of your 6GB SIM Kit, rest assured your plan will have all 6GB of data loaded each month.
- WHAT YOU GET: Three (3) months of unlimited talk and text + 6GB of 5G-4G LTE data each month delivered on the nation's largest 5G network.
- OH, YOU GET THIS TOO: 5G for Free + free mobile hotspot + Wi-Fi calling and text + free international calls to Mexico and Canada
- HOW YOU GET IT: The SIM Kit comes with a 3-in-1 SIM card that includes standard/micro/nano sizes, insert the SIM into your device, and activate on the Mint Mobile website or app. You can activate service on your own unlocked device with our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program. Check your coverage and phone compatibility on the Mint Mobile website.
- WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
What “standalone” should mean
Before comparing the price, define the product you are asking for. A genuinely standalone student plan would normally mean one mobile line with no required:
Recommended Free Tools
- Rogers Internet or TV subscription;
- multi-line or family account;
- device-financing agreement;
- Rogers credit card;
- employer, school, union, or association membership;
- temporary bill credit that later expires; or
- paid add-on needed to obtain the advertised data.
The public Rogers $55 plan fails that standalone test because Internet or TV service and Auto-Pay are conditions of the displayed price. A Preferred Program offer might be one line, but it can still be restricted to people who prove eligibility.
Who might qualify for a Rogers student offer?
Do not assume that “student” produces one national set of rules. The offer terms may distinguish among:

- Canadian post-secondary students and international students;
- newcomers using a separate international-student service;
- high-school students, if the specific promotion accepts them;
- new Rogers activations, port-ins, and existing Rogers customers;
- BYOD customers and customers financing a phone; and
- students applying through a school, employer, association, or Preferred Program account.
Rogers’ student page markets student and international-student services, but it does not publish the eligibility rules for an unseen $55/20GB configuration. The Preferred Program page warns that documentation may be requested and that existing customers on an in-market consumer plan with six months or less remaining on a term plan may not qualify for the specified discount. Treat that condition as program-specific, not as a universal Rogers rule.
How to verify an offer before ordering
- Start at Rogers’ official student page, rather than relying on a search snippet or social-media post.
- Submit the requested school, postal-code, or customer information and note whether the result is a public plan or a targeted portal offer.
- Record the exact plan name, high-speed data amount, network access, reduced-speed policy, Canada/U.S./Mexico coverage, hotspot rules, and whether data is shared.
- Confirm whether the price requires Auto-Pay, Rogers Internet or TV, multiple lines, a new activation, a port-in, BYOD, or device financing.
- Ask for the regular price after every promotional credit ends, the promotion’s expiry date, taxes, activation or setup charges, and any device payment or Save & Return amount.
- Save the offer page, terms, and a screenshot before checkout. If a retailer or agent quotes the deal, request the same details in writing.
The Preferred Program material reviewed states that an $80 setup service fee applies to device and related-service setup, with taxes extra, although a particular promotion may waive or reduce it. Do not assume that fee is waived unless your displayed terms say so.

Is 20GB enough for a student?
Light use
Messaging, email, maps, music streaming, occasional social media, and Wi-Fi use generally place a light user within a 20GB monthly allowance.

Moderate use
Daily social-video viewing, cloud-photo backups, frequent video calls, and occasional hotspot use can consume 20GB quickly. Check your phone’s monthly app-by-app data report before choosing.
Heavy use
Regular HD video, large game downloads, laptop tethering, and travel without Wi-Fi can exceed 20GB. A plan may continue after the high-speed allowance at reduced speeds, but that policy must be confirmed in the specific student plan’s terms; do not transfer it automatically from Rogers’ public 60GB offer.

If your household already has Rogers Internet or TV
The public $55/60GB plan may be useful because the required bundle already exists. Compare the combined household bill, not just the mobile line, and verify the Auto-Pay condition.

If you need one inexpensive line
Check prepaid and flanker brands such as Public Mobile, Fido, and Chatr. Their current prices, data buckets, throttling, and eligibility require verification at signup; the old Public Mobile 20GB/$55 announcement is not current evidence.
If you live in a participating region
Videotron’s student-plan page may be relevant in its service areas. Availability, data, and pricing vary by offer and geography.
If coverage or travel matters most
Compare Freedom Mobile, Bell, and TELUS based on the places you live, study, work, and travel. Do not assume a student label includes U.S. roaming, international texting, hotspot access, or 5G; those are plan-specific.
If family lines are available
A multi-line Rogers account can reduce the per-line price, but it is not a standalone student plan. Compare the account’s total cost and the consequences if you leave the family account.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBottom line: is the Rogers $55/20GB student plan real?
Rogers’ student offers are real, but the public evidence available on August 18, 2026 does not confirm a current, universal, standalone Rogers plan offering 20GB for $55 per month. The visible Rogers $55 option is a conditional 60GB plan requiring Rogers Internet or TV service and Auto-Pay. The 20GB/$55 wording also traces to an older Public Mobile announcement and a Rogers shared-speed-pass document, neither of which establishes the claimed consumer student plan. Publish or purchase the deal only after Rogers shows you the exact offer and its complete price, eligibility, and expiry terms.
