What was DigniFi’s $14 million Series A?
On June 30, 2020, DigniFi announced that BuildGroup and Exor Seeds had led a $14 million Series A. In the same announcement, the company disclosed a separate agreement with Neuberger Berman Private Equity to purchase up to $275 million of assets. The two figures describe different arrangements: the Series A was equity funding, while the Neuberger Berman agreement provided asset-purchase capacity. They should not be added together or described as one $289 million funding round. DigniFi’s June 30, 2020 announcement described both.

The May 2024 amounts are later company financing, not part of the 2020 Series A. DigniFi announced the facility and debt financing as capital to expand auto-repair financing, and said customer finance options are funded by WebBank. The 2024 announcement identifies the arrangements separately.
What DigniFi does—and what it does not do
DigniFi connects a customer’s purchase at a participating automotive merchant with a financing application. Its automotive offering covers dealership service and repairs, prepaid maintenance, parts and accessories, collision repairs and deductibles, warranties, and other vehicle-related purchases. The company is a financing platform, not a repair shop, mechanic, or parts manufacturer. Availability depends on participating merchants; the company’s services are not established as available at every shop or to every driver. DigniFi’s automotive page describes the current offering.

How financing at a participating shop works
- Ask whether the merchant participates. DigniFi financing is offered through participating automotive dealers and service centers. A shop that does not participate may not offer it.
- Choose an eligible purchase and apply. Depending on the merchant program, financing may cover repairs or other listed vehicle-related purchases. DigniFi says its online application requests basic identity, address, employment, and income information and takes less than five minutes to complete. That is the company’s description of the application process, not a promise of approval or a measured time for every applicant. DigniFi’s customer information page explains the application.
- Review the specific offer before accepting. Current disclosures identify WebBank as the issuing bank for the credit products. The available product, rate, fees, promotional terms, and approval depend on the program and underwriting. Read the offer and its payment schedule rather than assuming that a rate or promotion shown for another program will apply.
- Make payments according to the agreement. For a promotional deferred- or waived-interest offer, the disclosed conditions matter: interest may accrue under the stated terms if the balance is not paid within the applicable promotional period.

The following figures are displayed on DigniFi’s automotive page as accessed October 4, 2026. They are current page disclosures, not terms that can be applied retroactively to the 2020 funding announcement or guaranteed for an individual applicant.

Compare the total repayment obligation, fees, promotional payoff rules, and alternatives such as paying cash or using another form of credit.

What DigniFi said about repair costs in 2020
To explain the need for repair financing, DigniFi’s 2020 release cited two figures attributed to AAA: 64% of Americans could not pay for an unexpected car repair without taking on debt — AAA, as cited by DigniFi, 2020; average unexpected car repair cost of $500–$600 — AAA, as cited by DigniFi, 2020. These are historical figures quoted in the company’s announcement, not current estimates independently verified here. They provide context for the 2020 financing announcement but should not be treated as a description of every driver’s finances or today’s repair costs. The release also quoted then-CEO Richard Counihan saying that many Americans would need working cars to get back to work after months of financial uncertainty.
How the company’s later developments fit the timeline
May 2024: additional credit and debt financing
DigniFi reported an up-to-$150 million credit facility from Encina Lender Finance and $25 million in debt financing from Brigade Capital Management. These were separate, later financing arrangements intended to support expansion; neither was part of the 2020 equity round or the Neuberger Berman asset-purchase agreement. September 2026: Nissan and INFINITI dealer access
DigniFi announced that Nissan and INFINITI dealers could access its mobile-first financing for service, maintenance, repairs, parts, accessories, and eligible protection products. The announcement describes the process as available through participating dealers and integrated into dealer workflows; it does not establish universal availability across all dealerships. DigniFi also reported more than $567 million in incremental transactions facilitated to date. That is a company-reported cumulative figure in its September 2026 announcement, not an independently audited total. Read the Nissan and INFINITI announcement.
Taylor Nelson, DigniFi’s VP of Commercial Partnerships, said affordability had become one of the biggest challenges for vehicle owners. That is an executive’s assessment, not a measured statistic.

What the funding story means for a consumer
The 2020 round explains how DigniFi raised capital and arranged capacity to support its financing business; it does not determine a customer’s eligibility, rate, or access to a participating merchant. For a driver considering financing, the practical questions are whether the shop offers the product, what the individual written offer costs, which fees apply, and whether the balance can be repaid under the stated schedule—especially before accepting a promotional offer.
