Those reports do not establish how much Vanessa personally inherited—or whether she received any particular amount. The sale came before her March 2018 divorce filing from Donald Trump Jr., but claims that the money prompted the split remain speculation attributed to anonymous sources.
What the reports say about Charles Haydon’s Rao’s stake
Rao’s Specialty Foods, the company associated with Rao’s Homemade sauce, was reportedly sold in 2017 for about $415 million. A 2018 PEOPLE report syndicated by Yahoo, citing Page Six, said Haydon had invested as much as $1 million and held a reported 30% stake. The Bar Association of San Francisco’s May 2018 commentary described his investment as approximately $1 million and said the stake was left to his estate. These are figures reported by publications, not figures established here by transaction or estate records.

How much did Vanessa Trump inherit?
The amount is not established by the available reporting. A reported family windfall does not show what the estate distributed to each beneficiary, whether assets were divided among multiple people, or what Vanessa personally owned when the company was sold. The reported 30% stake and $415 million sale price are not enough to calculate her inheritance: the sources do not provide the estate’s final ownership, transaction details, or distribution.

The Bar Association of San Francisco commentary and Vanity Fair also reported that Vanessa’s mother, Bonnie Haydon, later paid $6.4 million in cash for a Fifth Avenue penthouse. That purchase is a reported family financial detail; it does not establish Vanessa’s individual inheritance or payout.
Did the Rao’s deal cause the divorce?
The reported chronology is that the business sale took place in 2017 and Vanessa filed for divorce in March 2018. Page Six sources, as relayed in 2018 coverage, suggested that newfound family financial security emboldened her. That is an anonymous-source explanation, not independently established evidence that the sale or an inheritance caused the divorce.

PEOPLE reported that Donald Trump Jr. sought a statement of net worth in the divorce proceeding. New York divorce lawyer Neena Tankha, a partner at Warshaw Burstein LLP, said such a request “is standard procedure in matrimonial cases” and might not relate to the reported inheritance. The request alone does not prove the Rao’s money was disputed.
