There is no verifiable public evidence in the sources reviewed that Mary Marquardt, Harrison Ford’s first wife, left a fortune or a will that raised questions. That does not prove she had no will; it means the headline’s claims should not be treated as established fact without direct documentation.

What is known about Mary Marquardt and Harrison Ford

Ford arrived in Los Angeles in 1964 with Marquardt, then his college girlfriend and new bride, according to AARP’s 2011 profile. The couple divorced in 1979 and had two sons, a timeline also reflected in an ERIC-hosted biographical document and The Independent’s 2010 profile.

Those accounts establish biographical details; they do not establish Marquardt’s assets, a divorce settlement, a later inheritance, or the existence or terms of a will.

Is there evidence she left a fortune or a will?

The sources identified here do not report a fortune, a will, or estate proceedings involving Marquardt. A search for reporting and identifiable court records specifically connecting her name with a will, estate, obituary, or death did not surface reliable confirmation of those claims. This is a limit of the public information located, not proof that no private will exists.

An affirmative claim about an estate would need direct support, such as an identifiable probate filing or an authentic will, or reliable reporting that documents the claim. Without that, claims about the size of an estate, beneficiaries, or disputes are speculation.

Why an obituary name match is not confirmation

Legacy’s Mary Marquardt obituary index aggregates listings for people with that name, but it does not identify a listing as Harrison Ford’s former wife. A name match alone cannot establish identity, death, or an estate; the index proves none of those things about Marquardt.

What would verify a future estate claim?

If a document or report is presented as proof, check whether it identifies the same Mary Marquardt, where and when any filing was made, whether the document is authentic and part of a probate proceeding, and what it actually says about assets and beneficiaries. Keep documented facts separate from estimates or allegations.
