Recent announcements point to a growing pipeline of AI and hyperscale data centers, but they describe very different things: proposed campuses, projects with financing, construction starts, and investor funds. This selected roundup covers announcements from July 2025 through August 2026; it is not a complete census of global projects. The figures below are attributed to the companies or organizations that announced them, and proposed capacity should not be read as capacity already operating.
What are the latest announced data center projects?
The table separates project stage and capacity from announced funding. Investment figures, debt, fund commitments, and campus values are not interchangeable measures of money spent or construction underway.
| Location and announcement | Stage and announced capacity | Capital or financing announced | Other stated details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seinäjoki, Finland — Pure DC, July 14 and 21, 2026 | Phase 1 is 110 MW. Pure DC described a potential campus of more than 550 MW, conditional on permissions and contracting; that is an ultimate scale target, not delivered capacity. | Pure DC said Phase 1 involves more than €1.5 billion in planned investment and announced €1.3 billion in committed senior debt for the phase. | The company said Phase 1 was fully leased and that planning and power were secured. The debt was arranged across five mandated lead arrangers: SMBC, ABN AMRO, Citi, Société Générale, and Natixis CIB. Pure DC said potential total investment at the larger campus scale could exceed €7.5 billion, also subject to permissions and contracting. |
| Bosquel, France — SoftBank Group and Sesterce, May 31, 2026 | Development plan for a 1 GW AI data center. | SoftBank placed the project within a broader 5 GW commitment it announced at the 2026 Choose France summit. | Both figures describe plans or commitments, not completed capacity. |
| Île-de-France, France — Ardian and Verne, June 1, 2026 | Proposed digital infrastructure hub with a target capacity of 500 MW. | The partners announced investment of up to €5 billion. | The proposed hub is intended for high-performance computing, AI model training, and industrial applications. |
| Oxagon, Saudi Arabia — HUMAIN and DataVolt, August 31, 2026 | The announced first phase is 360 MW within a wider planned 1.5 GW campus. The announcement described a groundbreaking as the start of construction for the first phase. | HUMAIN and DataVolt said they would jointly develop 100 MW of the 360 MW AI-ready first-phase project. | The 100 MW joint-development portion is part of the announced phase, not an additional campus beyond it. |
| Chile — Scala Data Centers, July 2025 | Project finance for three hyperscale data centers and a power substation. | Scala reported USD 254 million in long-term funding for the Chile project. Its release headline referred to a wider USD 328 million international deal. | The same release also described more than USD 70 million in sale-leaseback operations for Brazil sites and a BRL 180 million BNDES loan for infrastructure components. Those items have different scopes from the Chile project funding. |
| Northern Virginia, United States — EdgeCore, April 21, 2026 | Financing transactions to fund construction of two single-tenant hyperscale facilities, AS01 and AS02. | EdgeCore reported completed financial transactions totaling $1.5 billion. | EdgeCore said AS01’s financing was structured as a Green Loan aligned with Green Loan Principles and its 2025 Green Finance Framework. |
| Saline Township, Michigan, United States — Related Digital and Blackstone, April 24, 2026 | The companies announced a campus purpose-built for Oracle, with more than one gigawatt across three single-story buildings. They said construction on the first buildings was underway. | The announced campus value was $16 billion. That project value is not a disclosed debt principal amount. | Capacity, value, and construction status are as described in the companies’ announcement. |
| United States hyperscale investment pool — Digital Realty, March 30, 2026 | Digital Realty announced the final close of its inaugural U.S. hyperscale data center fund. | The fund had $3.25 billion in total equity commitments from institutional investors. | This is a fund-level commitment for a strategy or portfolio, not a construction loan for one identified site. |
How to read data center financing announcements
A headline amount can refer to debt, an equity pool, a project’s stated value, or funding across multiple assets. Those categories answer different questions. An announcement also does not, on its own, establish that the full amount has been drawn, that a project is complete, or that its economics have been independently assessed.
| Financing term | What it means for a reader | Example in this roundup |
|---|---|---|
| Equity fund commitments | Investor capital committed to a fund that can invest across a portfolio or strategy. It is not automatically a loan or construction spend at one site. | Digital Realty’s U.S. hyperscale fund. |
| Senior debt | Borrowed capital that has priority over equity according to the loan documentation. A commitment is not enough to compare cost or risk: terms such as pricing, covenants, and collateral matter, and were not disclosed in the cited announcement at a level that supports comparison. | Pure DC’s Phase 1 financing. |
| Construction financing | Capital raised to support building work. The amount of a financing transaction should be distinguished from a project’s total announced value. | EdgeCore’s Virginia facilities and Related Digital and Blackstone’s Michigan campus. |
| Project finance | A funding arrangement identified with a particular project or set of project assets. The scope and figure attached to it should be checked against any broader deal headline. | Scala’s Chile facilities and substation. |
| Green loan or green finance framework | A financing structure may be described as aligned with named principles or a framework. That label reports the stated financing alignment; it does not, by itself, verify that every environmental outcome has been achieved. | EdgeCore described AS01’s loan as aligned with Green Loan Principles and its 2025 Green Finance Framework. |
Which project milestones matter?
For comparing announcements, stage is as important as scale. A target campus capacity is not the same as a phase being built, and a financing close is not the same as a facility operating. Read each announcement for the specific milestone it claims:

- Plan or target: a proposed development, investment estimate, or ultimate campus capacity. It may remain subject to permissions, contracting, or other conditions.
- Partnership or commitment: organizations have announced an intention to develop, fund, or support a project. This does not establish that the proposed capacity has been delivered.
- Financing commitment or completed transaction: a company has announced debt, equity, or another financing milestone. The amount and scope still need to be distinguished from project value or total potential investment.
- Groundbreaking or construction underway: physical work has begun or is reported to be underway for the stated phase or buildings. It does not mean the whole planned campus is complete.
- Operational capacity: a facility is in service. None of the announcements in this roundup should be treated as proof that every stated future campus capacity is already operational.
What this roundup can—and cannot—show
The selected announcements show a mix of AI-focused plans, hyperscale construction, project-level borrowing, and portfolio-level equity commitments across Europe, the Middle East, North America, and South America. They are primarily statements from developers, investors, or project stakeholders. They do not provide comparable financing terms across projects, independent confirmation of every commitment, or a complete global pipeline. Use the stated stage and scope—not headline scale alone—to judge what each announcement actually establishes.
