Daily Harvest is a frozen, plant-based meal service built around convenience, but whether it is worth the cost depends on the items you choose, how filling you expect them to be, and the delivered price at checkout. Food & Wine testing matching this title could not be verified; the detailed 2025 review was by dietitian Stefani Sassos at Good Housekeeping, with a separate review by Molly Higgins at WIRED. Their experiences were mixed by item: Sassos praised smoothie and pasta flavors, while Higgins found some dishes mushy or bland.
What is Daily Harvest?
Daily Harvest is a subscription-based service offering frozen, plant-based foods in formats such as single-serve smoothies, energy bites, breakfast bowls, and savory meals. Its menu rotates, and products may return for limited periods, so a named item in a review may not be available now. See Good Housekeeping’s July 2025 review for the service description and reviewer’s item examples.
What did the 2025 reviews say about taste and convenience?
Good Housekeeping: convenient, with some strong flavors
Stefani Sassos, M.S., R.D.N., reported testing Daily Harvest multiple times, including recently. She praised the convenience and flavor of the smoothies, naming Mint Cacao as a personal favorite. She also found the savory pasta dishes easy to prepare and flavorful. Those are her experiences with selected products, not a guarantee that every item will suit every palate. Good Housekeeping, updated July 21, 2025.
WIRED: convenient, but texture varied
Molly Higgins gave Daily Harvest 6/10 in WIRED’s April 2025 review. She valued the à la carte choices and convenience for solo vegan eaters, but described some items as mushy and some dishes as bland. The contrast is useful: taste and texture depend on which products you order, and reviewers may also differ in their expectations for texture and portion size. WIRED, April 8, 2025.

How much did Daily Harvest cost in 2025?
Good Housekeeping reported in its July 21, 2025 review that items ranged from $6.49 to $10.99, shipping was a flat $9.99, and the minimum order was $50. Its examples included breakfast bowls at $6.49, smoothies at $8.49–$9.49, savory meals at $9.79–$10.79, and bites at $10.99. These are dated review figures, not current checkout prices. WIRED separately reported a $50 minimum and about $10 shipping in April 2025. Good Housekeeping; WIRED.
To judge the real cost, check current item prices, shipping, minimums, and any discounts at checkout. Include the minimum-order requirement in your comparison: a low per-item price does not tell you what you will spend if you only want a few meals.

Are Daily Harvest meals filling?
Sassos cautioned that some grain bowls and meals were low in calories and might need additional protein to make a more substantial meal. If you are buying these as a main meal, check the nutrition information for the specific products on the current menu and consider whether the portion fits your appetite and needs. Her observation does not establish that every bowl or meal is too small.
Do you need a blender?
Some smoothie items require blending, and Higgins noted that some meals call for a blender or food processor. A blender is not needed for every menu item, so check the product’s preparation directions before ordering. Factor in both the appliance and the cleanup if you are choosing items that require blending. WIRED’s review discusses preparation requirements.

What should you know about the 2022 recall?
Good Housekeeping’s July 2025 review revisited Daily Harvest’s 2022 recall and reported that the company identified tara flour as a possible contributor to illnesses. The article quoted CEO Ricky Silver: “The primary change we made was implementing a stricter review of ingredients, particularly novel ingredients,” Silver explained. It also reported that the company added checks for historical validation of ingredients in the U.S. market. These are the company’s actions and explanation as reported by Good Housekeeping; they do not independently establish that all food-safety risks have been eliminated. It may suit someone who wants convenient frozen, plant-based options and can use a range of meal and snack formats. It is a less obvious fit if you need consistently substantial portions, dislike soft textures, have limited freezer space, or want to avoid extra blending and cleanup. Compare the current delivered cost with the meals you would otherwise buy, and check the live menu and preparation instructions before placing an order.
