Exodus is the better fit for most people who want an approachable wallet with desktop access and documented Trezor and Ledger integrations. Coinomi is a stronger fit if you need broad multi-chain coverage, custom transaction-fee controls, or several wallet seeds in one app. Both are self-custody software wallets: you control the recovery material, and you—not the wallet company—are responsible for protecting it. Neither is a substitute for a hardware wallet when you are securing a substantial long-term balance.
Coinomi vs Exodus at a glance
| What matters | Coinomi | Exodus |
|---|---|---|
| Wallet model | Self-custody software wallet; Coinomi says keys are stored on the user’s device. | Self-custody software wallet; integrated services may be provided by third parties. |
| Asset coverage | Coinomi’s asset page claims more than 10,000 tokens across 50+ blockchains; its support material also describes supported coins and network tokens. | Live asset directory lists supported assets and indicates functions and platforms separately. |
| Platforms | Coinomi lists iOS, Android, and desktop. | Mobile, desktop, and Web3 Wallet features are documented; availability varies by asset and function. |
| Fee controls | Low, normal, high, and custom transaction-fee choices are documented for supported assets. | Network fees apply; swaps can also include a spread and provider costs. |
| Hardware-wallet connection | The official material cited here emphasizes software-wallet self-custody and does not establish an equivalent hardware-wallet integration. | Documents Trezor and Ledger workflows, with asset, device, and platform limitations. |
| Web3 and DApps | Advertises a DApp browser and Web3 support. | Offers Web3 Wallet functionality; support depends on the asset and network. |
| Best fit | Users prioritizing chain breadth, custom fees, or multiple seeds. | Users prioritizing an accessible interface, desktop use, integrated services, or a documented hardware-wallet workflow. |
These are different kinds of claims, not a controlled feature test. An asset may be available to hold but not to swap, buy, stake, use in a DApp, or manage through a hardware device. Check the exact asset, network, function, and device before sending funds.
What the wallets do—and what they do not do
A wallet app is an interface for managing keys and interacting with blockchain addresses; the crypto itself is recorded on the relevant blockchain, not stored inside the app. Coinomi says it is non-custodial and is not itself an exchange, although it connects users with exchange services from partners. Exodus likewise describes a self-custody wallet while noting that buying, selling, swaps, and staking can involve outside providers. See Coinomi’s explanation of its wallet model and Exodus’s getting-started documentation.
That distinction matters. A wallet company may provide the interface without being the counterparty for a purchase or swap. A third-party provider can have its own fees, eligibility rules, identity checks, and support process. Non-custodial also does not mean anonymous or risk-free: your recovery phrase, device, transaction approvals, and address and network choices remain your responsibility.

Supported coins, tokens, and networks
Coinomi’s stated breadth
Coinomi’s asset page claims support for more than 10,000 tokens across 50+ blockchains. Its support article, updated July 28, 2026, describes the list more narrowly as more than 100 coins and tokens and explains that tokens on supported networks—including ERC-20, TRC-20, and BEP-20—may be added. These counts use different descriptions of what is being counted; they should not be treated as a direct comparison with Exodus’s directory. Check Coinomi’s asset page and its supported-coins guidance for the asset you actually hold.
Exodus’s function-by-function directory
Exodus provides a live asset directory that distinguishes availability across mobile, desktop, Web3 Wallet, Trezor, and Ledger, as well as buying or selling, swaps, and rewards. A directory entry is not a promise that every listed function works on every platform.
Verify the exact route before transferring
- Confirm the asset and its network on both the sending and receiving sides. A token with the same ticker can exist on multiple chains.
- Check separately whether the wallet can receive, send, swap, buy, stake, or connect the asset to a DApp. Holding support does not imply support for all those actions.
- For a token, identify the native network and required fee asset. A wallet may need the chain’s native coin to pay for a transfer.
- For staking or hardware use, check the particular asset entry, device, and platform rather than relying on a general wallet feature claim.
Fees: sending, swapping, and buying
“Free wallet” does not mean “free transaction.” Separate the costs before approving anything:

- Network fee: Paid to the blockchain’s miners or validators for a transaction. It varies with the network and conditions.
- Wallet fee: A direct fee charged by the wallet company, if any. Coinomi says it does not charge for sending or receiving; Exodus says it does not retain blockchain transaction fees. The network fee still applies.
- Provider fee and spread: A swap or fiat provider may charge a fee or offer a quote that differs from a market reference price. Exodus explicitly says swaps may include a spread and network fee; third-party costs can also apply.
- Exchange withdrawal fee: If you send crypto from an exchange to a wallet, the exchange may charge its own withdrawal fee.
Coinomi documents low, normal, high, and custom fee options where supported. A custom fee set too low can leave a transaction delayed; a higher fee may improve priority but cannot guarantee immediate confirmation. Exodus’s fee explanation is available here, and Coinomi’s fee policy and controls are described here.

- Compare the amount you will send with the final amount you will receive, not just the displayed exchange rate.
- Review the network fee, any provider charge, minimum or maximum, and whether the quote is firm or indicative.
- Check that the receiving asset is on the network you intend to use and that you can access it after the swap.
- Check the provider’s country eligibility, identity-verification rules, and process for delayed, rejected, or reviewed orders.
Provider availability and terms can change by country, asset, payment method, and compliance rules. There is no established universal fee winner here: a meaningful comparison requires same-asset, same-network quotes taken at the same time.
Security and recovery
What self-custody changes
Coinomi says recovery phrases and private keys remain on the user’s device and are encrypted locally; its Android app can use a Trusted Execution Environment where the device supports one. That is device-dependent, not a protection available on every Android phone. Coinomi also warns that rooted or jailbroken devices weaken security. Its security explanation describes these qualifications.

- Bright OLED display for easy & secure hands-on verification
- PIN & passphrase enabled for on-device protection
- Fully open-source design for transparent security
Exodus documents hardware-wallet workflows involving Trezor and Ledger. In a hardware-wallet workflow, signing can take place on the hardware device, keeping the recovery phrase and private keys off the connected computer. Compatibility is limited by asset, device, and platform; consult the Trezor integration page and the asset directory. Connecting a hardware wallet is not the same as converting a software-wallet seed into a hardware-generated one. For a stronger hardware-wallet security model, generate a new recovery phrase on the hardware device and transfer funds to its addresses rather than importing a software-wallet phrase.
Protect the recovery phrase
- Write the phrase down and keep it offline in a secure place; do not photograph it or sync it to cloud storage.
- Never enter it into a website, support chat, form, or “verification” tool, and never disclose it to a support agent.
- Use a clean, trusted device for restoration. A password for an app is not a substitute for the recovery phrase.
- If the phrase may have been exposed, treat the wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a new phrase and move funds; changing the app password alone does not replace exposed keys.
- Before signing a transaction or DApp approval, verify the request and destination. A hardware device cannot protect you from approving a malicious transaction you do not understand.
Coinomi’s backup guidance says its HD wallet is restored with the recovery phrase and warns that a password or previously used address is not enough. It also says Coinomi cannot recover funds if the phrase or keys are lost or exposed. Read its backup and restore guidance. If a company or app becomes unavailable, self-custody can leave the blockchain assets outside that company’s possession, but access still depends on correctly preserved recovery material and a compatible wallet implementation.
Swaps, purchases, Web3, and rewards
Swaps and fiat purchases
Coinomi advertises swaps through partners and decentralized exchanges, and card purchases through Simplex. Exodus documents swaps through centralized and decentralized third-party providers and purchase methods that can include bank transfer, card, and Apple Pay in relevant provider arrangements. These are not universal payment promises: availability depends on country, asset, provider, and payment method. Exodus’s 2026 SEC filing describes provider-based exchange, fiat, and staking services; it is useful context for the distinction between wallet software and service providers: Exodus 2026 filing.

Before using a purchase or swap service, check its verification requirements, quote validity, limits, fees, and who handles a failed or delayed order. An integrated option can be convenient, but it is not necessarily cheaper than a separate exchange or DEX, and a wallet interface alone does not establish a provider’s regulatory status in your location.
Web3 and DApps
Both products advertise Web3 access, but compatibility depends on wallet type, network, and the DApp. A DApp connection can request signatures or token approvals; review what is being authorized and whether the contract and network are the intended ones. Treat Web3 access as a separate risk from simply holding an asset in a wallet.
Staking and rewards
Coinomi advertises cold staking for supported assets, while Exodus’s directory identifies assets with rewards and APY information. Rewards are variable, not guaranteed interest. Before staking, check the specific asset’s current rate and provider or validator, fees, lockup and unbonding period, any applicable slashing risk, and whether the staked balance can be managed through your chosen hardware setup. Also consider tax reporting in your jurisdiction. No current APY is stated here because rates change by asset, provider, and date.

Which wallet suits beginners and advanced users?
For a beginner
Exodus is the more natural starting point if you value a unified interface, desktop access, and integrated services. But an easy interface does not remove the need to understand recovery phrases, networks, fees, and provider terms. Do not treat a built-in swap or purchase as equivalent to an exchange account with account recovery, or assume a transaction can be reversed if you choose the wrong address or network.
For an advanced user
Coinomi may be the better fit when you need broad multi-chain and token coverage, custom fee choices, or multiple seeds in one app. Exodus may suit users who value its asset-by-platform directory, Web3 functionality, and documented hardware integrations. In either case, verify support for your actual asset and desired action; a general feature list is not enough to establish that a particular transaction path works.
Can you move a Coinomi wallet to Exodus?
Do not assume that every Coinomi recovery phrase will restore correctly in Exodus. Compatibility depends on seed standard, derivation path, address type, network, and account; even a successful import may not show every asset automatically. The first-party material cited here does not confirm a universal Coinomi-to-Exodus import path.
For many users, transferring funds on-chain is easier to reason about than entering a valuable existing phrase into another software wallet. Verify the receiving asset and network, send a small test transaction where practical, confirm it arrives, then decide whether to transfer the rest. A test transfer checks a route; it does not prove that every token, account, or future recovery path is supported.

- Copy the receiving address from the intended account and verify it on the device or screen you trust.
- Send a small test amount if network costs and minimums make that practical.
- Wait for confirmation and verify the transaction on the correct network before moving a larger balance.
If the goal is hardware-wallet protection, create a new seed on the hardware device and transfer funds to it instead of importing a software wallet’s existing phrase. Never share or paste a recovery phrase to test compatibility.
Choose based on your use case
- Choose Coinomi if the exact assets and networks you use are supported there and you value multi-chain breadth, custom fee controls, or managing multiple seeds.
- Choose Exodus if you want an accessible interface, desktop use, integrated services, or a documented Trezor/Ledger workflow for the assets you hold.
- Consider a hardware wallet for a meaningful balance or long-term holdings, while checking that your assets and intended features are supported by the specific device and software combination.
- Consider a custodial exchange only if account-based recovery or active trading is more important to you than direct control of the keys. That trades self-custody for dependence on the exchange and its rules, controls, and availability.
For a final check, verify the asset, network, action (hold, send, swap, stake, or Web3), device, provider terms, and recovery method before committing funds.
