Chandigarh collected ₹238 crore in GST revenue in September 2026, up 4% from ₹229 crore a year earlier. That monthly growth rate was below Punjab’s 18% and Delhi’s 12%. Across April to September, however, Chandigarh’s cumulative growth of 3.4% was ahead of Delhi’s 2.7%, though below Punjab’s 9.7%. The Government of India’s figures are provisional and may change when finalised.

What were Chandigarh’s GST collections in September 2026?

Chandigarh’s September GST revenue was ₹238 crore, compared with ₹229 crore in September 2025, according to the Government of India GST revenue report dated October 1, 2026. The increase was 4% year on year. The state-wise revenue table excludes GST on import of goods, as noted in the report’s footnote.

The report labels the figures provisional. It says actual numbers may vary slightly on finalisation.

How does Chandigarh compare with Punjab and Delhi?

These figures compare each jurisdiction’s September 2026 collection with its September 2025 collection. The amounts differ substantially, so the growth rates are the clearest way to compare the monthly change.

Jurisdiction September 2026 GST revenue Year-on-year growth
Chandigarh ₹238 crore 4%
Punjab ₹2,549 crore 18%
Delhi ₹6,354 crore 12%

Chandigarh’s monthly growth rate trailed Punjab by 14 percentage points and Delhi by 8 percentage points.

What do the April–September figures show?

The cumulative comparison covers six months, April through September 2026, against the same period a year earlier. It gives a different ranking from September alone: Chandigarh’s growth was higher than Delhi’s, although Punjab remained ahead of both.

Did Chandigarh’s growth slow over recent months?

A2Z Taxcorp’s October 3, 2026 report describes Chandigarh’s monthly year-on-year growth as 12% in July, 8% in August and 4% in September. The Government of India’s release independently confirms September’s 4% figure; the July and August figures are reported by A2Z Taxcorp.

Why did Chandigarh’s GST growth slow to 4%?

The available figures establish the slowdown in the reported growth rate, but do not explain its cause. The Government of India’s release is a statistical collection report and provides no explanation attributing the change to economic activity, compliance, tax rates, refunds or particular sectors. Those causes cannot be determined from these figures alone.

Why do some SGST figures show faster growth?

The 4% figure is from the report’s state-wise GST revenue table. Its separate SGST settlement tables measure different things and should not be read as contradictory versions of that growth rate.

For Chandigarh in September, pre-settlement SGST grew 22% to ₹67 crore. Post-settlement SGST, which includes the state or Union Territory share of IGST settlement, grew 17% to ₹211 crore. These are settlement-related SGST measures, not the state-wise GST revenue growth comparison above.

How does September compare with national GST growth?

India’s gross GST revenue was ₹2,03,521 crore in September 2026, up 14.7% year on year; gross domestic GST revenue was ₹1,37,996 crore, up 10.1%. These national figures provide context, not an explanation for Chandigarh’s result. The News On AIR report dated October 1, 2026 also reported the national gross revenue increase.
