Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Paris Hilton, Lionel Messi and Jay Chou had documented launches or collaborations. Madonna, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Curry and Neymar Jr. were reported as owners of tokens from existing collections, not creators of those collections. Deepak Chopra collaborated on a TIMEPieces release. The projects ranged from music and digital art to avatars, charitable giving and access passes; none guarantees lasting financial value.
What the celebrities actually did
Celebrity NFT stories become clearer when separated into three categories:
- Creator or co-creator: the celebrity released work or participated directly in a drop.
- Licensed subject: an authorized platform issued NFTs depicting the celebrity, as with Lionel Messi.
- Collector: the celebrity bought or displayed a token from an existing collection, as reported for several Bored Ape owners.
Ownership of a token does not by itself mean the person created the collection, controls its intellectual property or promises future benefits.

Celebrity-led drops and collaborations
Eminem: Shady Con
Eminem’s official announcement on April 22, 2021 described Shady Con as his first NFT collection on Nifty Gateway. It included Eminem-approved collectibles and original instrumental beats. He connected the concept to his interest in comic books, baseball cards and toys, saying he wanted the drop to feel like finding one item—or collecting the whole set. The announcement did not establish a lasting resale value or a continuing benefit for holders.

Snoop Dogg: A Journey with the Dogg
Crypto.com’s March 30, 2021 announcement described eight pieces. The release included an auction item, the open-edition “Snoop Dogge Coins” and an original track titled “NFT.” It also said a portion of proceeds would support emerging crypto artists and Snoop’s Youth Football League. Because one component was open edition, scarcity was not uniform across the release.
Snoop separately partnered with The Sandbox in 2021 on 1,000 private-party passes. That pass figure relates to the partnership’s access experience, not the eight-piece A Journey with the Dogg collection.
Paris Hilton: Blake Kathryn collaboration
Origin reported that a one-of-one NFT created with artist Blake Kathryn and Paris Hilton sold for more than $1 million in April 2021. The same reporting said Hilton had accumulated more than 130 NFTs. A one-of-one sale demonstrates what one buyer paid at one moment; it does not establish a current floor price or a repeatable return.

Lionel Messi: The Messiverse
Ethernity announced The Messiverse as a licensed and authenticated collection, with four pieces scheduled for August 20, 2021. The announcement described futuristic, AI-driven depictions of Messi and positioned Ethernity as the issuer representing verified artwork as NFTs. “Licensed” identifies the authorization relationship; it does not automatically transfer Messi’s broader image rights to every buyer.
Jay Chou: Tiger Champs with Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain announced an exclusive series of 10,000 Tiger Champs NFTs with Jay Chou, made available through Crypto.com/NFT. The stated scale is a fixed 10,000-token series, but the announcement does not establish current availability, resale liquidity or a continuing club benefit.
Deepak Chopra: TIMEPieces x Deepak Chopra: The Seven
TIME announced The Seven as an exclusive collection at nft.time.com and said one percent of primary sales would support the NeverAlone Mental Health Initiative. TIME also reported, in 2023, more than 60,000 TIMEPieces community members, over 5,000 holders and more than 20,000 TIMEPieces NFTs released across its initiative. Those figures describe the wider TIMEPieces program, not necessarily the supply or ownership of The Seven alone.

Celebrity collectors: Madonna, Fallon, Curry and Neymar
El País and Decrypt reporting listed Madonna, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Curry and Neymar Jr. among celebrity Bored Ape owners. These reports document ownership or public holding of tokens from an existing collection. They do not show that any of the four created Bored Ape Yacht Club, issued its supply or designed its underlying collection.
For a buyer, that distinction affects provenance: a celebrity’s wallet or public display may attract attention, but it is not the same as a first-party launch, a license or a promise of access.
What celebrity NFTs have offered holders
- Collectible art: Eminem’s approved pieces, Messi’s licensed imagery and Jay Chou’s branded Tiger Champs.
- Music: Snoop Dogg’s original track and instrumental beats in Eminem’s release.
- Scarcity formats: one-of-one art, limited series, auctions and open editions. An open edition can have materially different scarcity from a fixed-supply drop.
- Access: The Sandbox partnership included 1,000 private-party passes, an example of wallet-linked experience rather than merely an image.
- Charitable giving: Snoop’s announcement cited support for emerging crypto artists and his youth football league; TIME said one percent of primary sales for The Seven would support NeverAlone.
- Community or media access: TIMEPieces is a broader membership-oriented initiative, but the published community and holder figures do not prove that every TIMEPieces NFT carries identical benefits.
Owning the token usually does not automatically grant copyright, commercial licensing rights or indefinite event access. The issuing terms and the specific token’s contract govern those details.

Are celebrity NFTs still worth anything?
The available launch reports cannot establish current prices, trading volume or liquidity for these projects. NFT value can change with attention, market conditions, platform support, legal rights, perceived scarcity and whether promised experiences remain available.
The reported sale above $1 million for the Paris Hilton–Blake Kathryn one-of-one is a historical transaction, not a valuation of Hilton’s other tokens or a forecast of what that NFT can sell for now. Likewise, a celebrity name can increase visibility without creating a reliable market for every token in a collection.
Questions to answer before buying
- Who authorized it? Confirm whether the item came from the celebrity, an identified licensee or an unaffiliated seller.
- What exactly is scarce? Check whether it is one-of-one, limited supply, auctioned or open edition.
- What do you receive? Read the terms for art, music, event access, avatar use, media or charitable commitments.
- What rights are excluded? A token purchase may not include copyright, trademark rights or permission to use the celebrity’s likeness commercially.
- Can it be resold? Look for an active marketplace, realistic recent transaction history and transaction fees; do not treat a listed asking price as a completed sale.
- Can you afford a total loss? Treat a celebrity NFT as a speculative collectible, not as a substitute for an emergency fund, diversified investments or debt repayment.
How to read the evidence behind a celebrity NFT claim
An official announcement is strongest for establishing that a launch, license or charitable pledge was announced. Industry and news reports can document ownership or a sale, but they may not establish the token’s current status. Always separate the date of the original release from present-day availability, ownership and value.
The ten examples show why “celebrity NFT” is not one product category: it can mean a music drop, licensed artwork, a branded series, an access pass, a charitable collaboration or a celebrity’s purchase from someone else’s collection.
