Canadian pre-orders for the iPhone 15 series opened on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 5:00 a.m. PDT (8:00 a.m. EDT). Retail availability began Friday, September 22, 2023. Apple’s launch prices started at $1,129 for the 128GB iPhone 15, while carrier offers used different combinations of down payments, monthly financing, deferred balances, trade-in credits and required wireless plans. The monthly payment alone was therefore not a reliable measure of the phone’s cost.
The prices below are historical September 2023 launch figures unless explicitly labelled as a current August 2026 signal.

When did iPhone 15 pre-orders open in Canada?
Apple’s Canadian pre-orders opened at 5:00 a.m. PDT on September 15, 2023. The corresponding times were:

Apple offered delivery and Apple Store pickup, while Rogers, Fido, TELUS, Koodo, Bell, Virgin Plus and Freedom Mobile also participated in the launch. Carrier websites and inventory systems did not always become usable at precisely the advertised time; Rogers was reported to open slightly early. A pre-order secured an order position, not a guaranteed launch-day delivery. Colour, storage, model allocation and warehouse inventory could change the delivery estimate.

The launch comparison with equivalent iPhone 14 configurations showed increases of roughly $30–$60 for standard models and $50–$110 for Pro models, depending on storage. That is a September 2023 launch comparison, not a statement about 2026 retail prices.

Rogers financing and Fido’s upfront-payment model
Rogers’ reported launch-period full prices were about $32 to $66 above Apple’s equivalent prices. The following figures are before any applicable taxes and show why payment structures must be compared on the same term.

Upfront Edge lowered the monthly bill by deferring part of the device cost. At the end of the term, the customer generally had to return the phone in qualifying condition or pay the deferred amount to keep it. The 48-month figure was tied to equal payments through a Rogers credit card: it lowered monthly cash flow but kept the customer financing the device for twice as long as a 24-month term.
Fido’s reported structure used a large down payment and an approximately $33.33 monthly payment:

For example, the Fido iPhone 15 128GB structure totals approximately $1,161 when the $361 down payment is added to 24 payments of about $33.34. The apparently similar monthly prices across models hide very different upfront costs.

Bell, TELUS, Freedom, Koodo and Virgin Plus
Bell
Bell participated in the 2023 launch, but the complete launch table is not preserved in the available material. A Bell page viewed on August 16, 2026 showed the iPhone 15 128GB from $36.41 per month for 24 months, $0 down and 0% APR, with an eligible two-year plan starting at $50 per month and a possible one-time $40 device handling charge. This is a current page signal, not a September 2023 launch price: Bell iPhone 15.
Bell’s Flex Option lowers payments by deferring part of the phone’s cost. At the end, the customer returns the phone in qualifying condition or pays the deferred amount. Leaving early or changing to an ineligible arrangement can make remaining device payments, credits and the deferred amount payable.

TELUS confirmed September 15 pre-orders and September 22 availability for all four models. Its launch options included Easy Payment, Bring-It-Back, trade-in programs and Device Care Complete, subject to plan and eligibility rules. The available announcement does not preserve a complete model-by-model launch price table, so no TELUS launch figures are supplied here: TELUS announcement.
Freedom Mobile
Freedom announced pre-orders for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro families at approximately 5:01 a.m. PDT (8:01 a.m. EDT) on September 15, one minute after Apple’s stated time. Its exact 2023 launch pricing was not preserved in the available material: Freedom pre-order report. A Freedom page viewed August 16, 2026 showed a certified pre-owned iPhone 15 from $9 per month with MyTab from $0 and a plan priced at $50 or more; that is not a new-phone 2023 launch offer: Freedom Apple devices.
Koodo and Virgin Plus
Contemporaneous Canadian coverage identified TELUS/Koodo and Bell/Virgin Plus as participating channels. Complete, independently verifiable September 2023 price tables for Koodo and Virgin Plus are not available in the cited material, so their exact launch prices should not be inferred.

How to compare the real cost
Use the same model and storage configuration, then calculate:

Keep the wireless plan separate from the device calculation. If an offer requires a $50 monthly plan, that adds at least $1,200 over 24 months before tax. That may replace a plan you would have paid for anyway, so also calculate the incremental cost versus your existing plan.
- 24-month device cost: isolates the phone financing.
- 24-month bill cost: adds the required wireless plan, taxes and fees.
- Incremental cost: subtracts the plan you would otherwise keep.
Trade-in credits require inspection, may be spread across bills and can disappear if you leave early. Return programs also depend on condition: screen and body damage, liquid damage, missing parts, malfunctioning controls, or an enabled Activation Lock can prevent a qualifying return.
Which buying route fits?
Apple outright purchase
Choose Apple when you want the clearest device price, intend to keep a low-cost BYOD plan, or do not want a two-year carrier commitment. Apple’s direct purchase is the clearest baseline for an unlocked phone, but confirm the terms for your exact transaction. The trade-off is paying more upfront; Apple Trade In values vary with model and condition.

Standard carrier financing
This suits customers already happy with a carrier and willing to remain for 24 months. Check the required plan, activation or handling fees, taxes, credit approval and what happens to credits if you change or cancel service.
Deferred or return programs
Upfront Edge, Flex Option and Bring-It-Back can work for people who upgrade regularly and can return a carefully maintained phone. They are poor fits if you expect to keep the device indefinitely, because the deferred balance becomes part of the ownership cost.
Sub-brands
Fido, Koodo, Virgin Plus and Freedom can have different plans and inventory. Compare the complete upfront payment and term, not just the displayed monthly number. Fido’s 2023 table demonstrates how a low monthly payment can require hundreds or more than $1,000 upfront.
Pre-order checklist
- Decide the exact model, colour and storage; compare identical configurations.
- Sign in to your Apple ID or carrier account and save payment and shipping details.
- Read the device agreement, including deferred balance, return condition and early-cancellation rules.
- Confirm the minimum eligible plan, taxes, activation or handling fees and credit-approval requirements.
- Get a trade-in quote and record its condition requirements; do not assume the quoted credit is guaranteed.
- Prepare a second colour, storage tier or retailer choice in case inventory sells out.
- After checkout, verify the promised delivery or pickup date and retain the agreement.
The Bottom Line
For the simplest ownership cost, compare Apple’s outright price with the carrier’s full device repayment—not its headline monthly payment. Carrier financing can make sense when you already need the plan and will stay for the full term. Upfront Edge, Flex Option and Bring-It-Back are best treated as deferred-payment choices: keeping the phone, leaving early or returning a damaged device can create a substantial final charge.
