Re:

Can You Still Buy the OnePlus Open in 2026? Price, Availability and Risks

The OnePlus Open remains listed online, but a listing is not proof of stock. Here’s how to weigh price, warranty, repairs, carrier compatibility and alternatives in 2026.

Short answer: Maybe—but don’t treat the OnePlus Open as a normal new-phone purchase. It launched in 2023, and OnePlus announced in July 2026 that it would stop launching new products in North America and Europe. Its U.S. product page still shows $1,699.99, but that does not confirm stock or a live checkout price. Buy only at a substantial discount, from a seller with a clear return policy, after confirming the exact model, carrier compatibility and warranty. Otherwise, choose a current foldable with clearer local support.

Where can you buy the OnePlus Open now?

Availability depends on the type of listing. A product page or search result is not proof that a working phone is in stock: confirm the seller, condition, delivery estimate and final checkout price before paying.

  • OnePlus: The U.S. product page displays $1,699.99, but this may be a legacy listing rather than a live offer. Check the official store for stock and verify that checkout completes.
  • Retailer new old stock: A recent Best Buy search result showed $1,299.99, but does not establish current availability or a completed checkout price. Confirm whether Best Buy itself or a marketplace seller is selling it, whether it is new and sealed, and what return and warranty terms apply.
  • Open-box or refurbished: Get the condition grade, battery information if available, actual device photos, return period and written warranty. Find out whether the warranty is from OnePlus or the refurbisher.
  • Used marketplace: This is the riskiest route. Treat the phone as used—not officially available—and do not buy without proof of model and region, a clean IMEI, real photos, and a return option that gives you time to test the inner screen and hinge.

OnePlus said U.S. and Canadian sales began October 26, 2023, through OnePlus.com, Amazon and Best Buy; that is historical launch information, not evidence of current stock. See the launch announcement and the 2023 availability report.

What is a sensible price in 2026?

There is no verified live price or stock status in the available retailer evidence, so use the prices below as historical reference points—not quotes or current offers.

Price reference What it tells you
$1,699.99 The price displayed on OnePlus’ U.S. product page; it does not confirm that a unit is in stock or purchasable.
$1,299.99 A price displayed in a recent Best Buy search result; it does not confirm current inventory, seller, condition or checkout price.

At or near the original price, the Open is poor value for most shoppers: it is an older foldable from a brand winding down regional product launches, and repair and support continuity matter as much as the hardware. A discounted new unit could make sense only with a retailer return window and confirmed warranty. Open-box or used stock needs a steeper discount to offset condition and repair risks. An imported phone should be priced as a higher-risk purchase, not treated as an equivalent bargain.

What OnePlus’ regional withdrawal means for owners and buyers

In July 2026, OnePlus announced it would conclude new-product rollouts in North America and Europe. The company says existing customers will continue to receive customer service, warranty obligations and software support. That commitment does not guarantee normal future retail, local repair access, spare parts, accessories or a particular number of Android-version upgrades for every Open.

The U.S. community website and app were scheduled to close on August 16, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time; that date has passed. Reporting has also described a possible move from OxygenOS toward ColorOS for devices in affected markets after ColorOS 17, but that is not a confirmed, device-specific Open update schedule. Read OnePlus’ business-adjustment notice and 9to5Google’s report with that distinction in mind.

OnePlus’ U.S. terms of sale warn that buyers who did not purchase through OnePlus.com or an authorized channel may need to seek support from the original point of sale. Before buying, get written confirmation about who will handle warranty claims, where repairs can be performed and whether coverage applies in your country.

Is the OnePlus Open still good hardware?

For buyers who specifically want its shape and multitasking approach, the Open still has meaningful strengths. The U.S. model pairs a 6.31-inch cover display with a 7.82-inch inner display, both with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, and weighs 239g in black, according to OnePlus. Its relatively wide cover screen feels more like a conventional phone than the narrow outer screens on some book-style foldables, while the large inside display supports its Open Canvas multitasking layout.

OnePlus lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 4,805mAh total-equivalent battery. The rear cameras are 48MP main, 64MP 3× telephoto and 48MP ultrawide. OnePlus specifies 67W wired charging; actual charging depends on the adapter and conditions. These are manufacturer specifications, not a claim that the phone matches current-generation performance. The trade-off is age and repair exposure. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is several generations old by 2026 standards. The phone launched with OxygenOS 13.2 in the Android 13 era, and software support beyond the company’s general commitment is not established here as a specific remaining update schedule. Foldable inner-screen and hinge repairs can be costly, and parts, cases and authorized repairs may become harder to find as regional operations wind down. The Open also lacks a built-in stylus ecosystem comparable to Samsung’s Fold line.

What to check before buying used or open-box

Confirm seller, model and warranty

  • Identify the actual seller; a retailer marketplace page may be fulfilled by a third party.
  • Ask for the model number, region, IMEI and original receipt. Verify the IMEI is not blacklisted or tied to unpaid financing.
  • Get the return deadline and warranty provider in writing. Ask whether manufacturer coverage transfers and works in your country.
  • Confirm whether the phone is a North American OnePlus Open or an imported regional model. Do not assume an Oppo Find N3 or another variant is equivalent.

Inspect the phone and included accessories

  • Open the inner display and check for dead pixels, pressure marks, discoloration, lines, bubbling or a peeling screen protector.
  • Fold and unfold the hinge. Listen and feel for grinding or looseness; check whether it opens flat and closes evenly.
  • Test the cover display’s touch response, cameras and focus, USB-C port, fingerprint reader and Alert Slider.
  • Test calls, mobile data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS; check battery behavior and unusual heat.
  • Confirm whether the original 67W charger and cable are included. Check that replacement cases and screen protectors for this exact model are available before purchase.

Verify carrier compatibility before activation

“Unlocked” does not guarantee support for every carrier feature. Confirm the exact model’s supported bands and the carrier’s approval for VoLTE and 5G in your location. OnePlus notes that bands and signal availability vary by operator, location and environment. Imported variants can differ in bands, eSIM support, carrier certification, warranty, software region, Google services and compatibility with payment or banking apps. See the official product information, then verify activation directly with your carrier before the return window expires.

Who should buy it—and who should skip it?

The Open may suit you if

  • You specifically prefer a relatively light book-style foldable and its wide cover display.
  • You want the large inner screen and multitasking layout, and the actual price is far below the original price.
  • You have verified the model, carrier compatibility, return protection and warranty, and can tolerate less certainty about future repairs and software.

Skip it if

  • The price is close to a current-generation foldable.
  • You need dependable local repair access or a clearly documented multi-year software-upgrade schedule.
  • You cannot absorb a costly inner-screen or hinge repair, or the seller cannot demonstrate the phone’s condition.
  • You are considering an import without confirmed carrier support and usable in-country warranty coverage.

Safer alternatives to compare

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line: Consider it if established foldable support and accessories matter more than a lighter design or wide cover display. Check the current model’s price and repair terms rather than assuming it is cheaper.
  • Google Pixel Fold line: Compare current hardware, pricing, repair coverage and software policy if Google software or computational photography is a priority.
  • Other current book-style foldables: Verify U.S. availability, update commitments, carrier certification and repair coverage for the exact model before comparing prices.
  • A conventional flagship phone plus tablet: This avoids a foldable hinge and inner-display repair risk and may be a better fit if you want a large screen but do not need one device to fold.

For any alternative, check a current manufacturer page and live retailer checkout: model availability and prices change, and a product page alone does not prove stock.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
