These pages describe Coinbase’s US offering; availability, DEX access, fees, and liquidity can vary by region and account. Coinbase’s status can also change, so check its live migration notice and the route displayed to you at the time of a transaction.
How to interpret the MOBILE-to-HNT migration notice
Coinbase’s notice tells holders to migrate MOBILE to HNT through the Helium Wallet app. It does not establish that Coinbase automatically converts every balance, that migration is reversible or fee-free, or that the route is available in every jurisdiction. Review Coinbase’s current notice and Helium’s official wallet instructions before moving tokens.
Helium’s HIP 138 overview describes a move toward consolidating network rewards into HNT. It says legacy MOBILE and IOT remain tradable and redeemable for HNT on Solana until full implementation. The implementation status may change; do not assume the transition is complete without checking Helium’s current documentation.

What HNT and MOBILE represent
HNT: Helium’s native network token
Helium identifies HNT as its network’s native cryptocurrency and protocol token. Hotspot hosts and operators can receive HNT rewards. Helium also describes Data Credits as a USD-pegged utility token made by burning HNT and used to pay network fees. See Helium’s token documentation for the network’s token details.
MOBILE: a token associated with Helium Mobile
MOBILE has been associated with Helium’s Mobile subnetwork. It is not another name for HNT: Coinbase’s migration notice treats MOBILE as the asset to migrate to HNT, while Helium’s HIP 138 overview describes the broader change toward unified HNT rewards.

Before using Coinbase DEX or moving tokens
- Check the current Coinbase migration notice and confirm whether MOBILE is still listed as disabled.
- Confirm that the option shown in your Coinbase account is available in your region and is the route you intend to use.
- Review the trade details and all displayed fees before confirming a DEX transaction. The amount you receive, liquidity, and network costs may vary.
- If using Helium Wallet, follow the official wallet instructions. Helium says the app displays HNT, MOBILE, IOT, DC, SOL, and USDC balances. Wallet recovery depends on the seed phrase: never share it.
- Verify the destination asset and network before sending tokens. The Coinbase and Helium pages cited here do not establish that a transfer or migration is reversible.
Are Helium Mobile hotspots required?
No. Helium Mobile hotspot hardware is a separate option for people who want to deploy network coverage, not a requirement to buy or hold MOBILE or HNT. Helium describes its Mobile Network as a decentralized carrier-offload network using community-deployed Mobile Hotspots and converted Wi-Fi networks; its documentation says hotspot deployers are rewarded in HNT.
