Yes. Renesas lists Rochester Electronics and Flip Electronics as authorized resellers of its end-of-life and obsolete products. That gives buyers an authorized route to source some discontinued Renesas parts, but it does not guarantee that a specific part is in stock or that every substitute will fit an existing design. Verify the exact part number, lifecycle dates, package and purchasing terms before committing.
What Renesas lifecycle status means for a part
Renesas distinguishes lifecycle stages that affect whether a part is still being produced and whether final orders remain possible. The available Renesas policy describes these stages and timing as follows:
| Status or milestone | What it means for buyers |
|---|---|
| NRND | Not recommended for new designs. This label alone does not mean the product has been discontinued. |
| EOL-notified | Discontinuation has been announced and final orders are being requested. Renesas generally moves a production product to this status 12–24 months before discontinuation. |
| Last-time buy (LTB) | Renesas says final orders are accepted for 6–12 months from the EOL notification date. The specific notice sets the relevant deadline and terms. |
| Last-time ship (LTS) | The final shipment date is a separate milestone from the final-order deadline. Renesas says production normally continues about 6–12 months after the final-order date. |
| EOLed | Renesas describes a product as EOLed once six to twelve months or more have passed since notification and final orders are closed. |
Renesas reviews lifecycle status generally every six months, so a status can change. For a purchase decision, use the current status and dates for the exact part rather than assuming that a product with an older notice remains available.
How Rochester can help after a Renesas EOL notice
Rochester describes three ways it supports discontinued components: authorized inventory, stock acquired during discontinuation, and licensed manufacturing for obsolete products when demand continues after available inventory is depleted. These are distinct supply routes; ask which one applies to the exact part you need.
#1 Best Overall
- VERSATILE COMPATIBILITY: Supports multiple microcontroller families including RA, RE, RL78, and RX series for comprehensive debugging and programming capabilities
- DEBUGGING FUNCTIONALITY: In-circuit debugger and programmer allows real-time debugging and flash programming of target devices
- COMPLETE PACKAGE: Includes necessary boards and cables for immediate development setup and programming operations
- DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT: Active product status ensures ongoing support and compatibility with current development environments
- PROFESSIONAL TOOL: Manufactured by Renesas Electronics Corporation, designed for efficient embedded systems development and testing
- Existing authorized stock: Rochester says it maintains authorized stock on active and EOL devices.
- Inventory acquired during discontinuation: Rochester says it buys stock during discontinuation cycles to extend availability beyond last-time-ship dates.
- Licensed manufacturing: Rochester says it offers fully licensed manufacturing for obsolete products when demand continues after inventory is depleted. Ask whether this route is available for the particular Renesas part and what lead time and order conditions apply.
Rochester reported more than 17 million microprocessor units in stock and 5,000 part-number options in 2024; the page was accessed in 2026. Those are vendor-reported, time-sensitive figures—not a guarantee that a particular Renesas part is available, or that the reported inventory consists of Renesas products. Check current, part-specific availability directly.
How to verify a part and place an order
- Search by part number. Use the full Renesas part number, or a partial number if needed, in Renesas’ product search. Check the lifecycle status and identify the applicable EOL notice.
- Confirm authorized sourcing. Renesas lists Rochester Electronics and Flip Electronics as authorized resellers for its EOL and obsolete products. Confirm the seller and supply route for the item you are buying; an online listing by itself does not establish authorization.
- Match the component to the design. Compare the full part number, die revision, package, speed grade, temperature rating and peripheral set. Rochester notes that an alternative may require a package or board change. Treat a proposed alternative as unverified until its fit with the existing design has been assessed.
- Record the dates. Note the EOL-notification date, final-order deadline and last-time-ship date from the specific notice. Do not treat the LTB deadline and LTS date as interchangeable.
- Confirm commercial and delivery terms. Ask the authorized channel to confirm availability, quantity, geography, lead time and any date-code requirements. Check whether the specific notice makes orders non-cancelable and non-returnable before placing a commitment.
- Assess continuity beyond the order. If the product will be needed after current inventory is depleted, ask whether Rochester can support it through licensed manufacturing and request a replacement assessment from Renesas or an authorized channel.
Example: Renesas notice EOL260016
Renesas notice EOL260016 is dated 1 June 2026 and attributes EOL actions for selected part numbers to aging wafer-process equipment. It lists 30 November 2026 as the last-shipment date and shows 31 December 2028 as a later shipment horizon. The notice describes orders between LTB and LTS as non-cancelable and non-returnable.

These dates and terms apply to the selected parts covered by that notice, not automatically to every Renesas component. Check whether your exact part is included, confirm the applicable order and shipment dates with the authorized channel, and request a replacement assessment if the design needs support beyond the stated supply horizon.

What to check before relying on obsolete-component supply
- Authorization: Verify that Rochester or another seller is listed by Renesas as an authorized reseller of EOL and obsolete products.
- Exact match: Confirm the complete ordering code and the component characteristics that matter to the design; do not assume a similar part number is interchangeable.
- Supply route: Establish whether the offer is from existing stock, inventory bought during discontinuation, or licensed manufacturing.
- Timing: Track notification, LTB and LTS dates separately and confirm they apply to your exact part.
- Purchase exposure: Review the specific notice and the seller’s terms for cancellation, returns, quantity, geography and lead time before ordering.
