The Call Center Buyers’ Guide 1999–2000 was a vendor directory dated July 1, 1999—not a product test or ranked comparison. It organized providers by call-center category and listed contact details, offering a snapshot of the companies and services buyers could investigate for the 1999–2000 buying period.
What the 1999–2000 guide was—and was not
The guide gathered companies under technology and service headings. Its entries supplied directory information, such as company locations, telephone numbers and, for many listings, web addresses. It did not provide prices, benchmark results, feature scores or comparative test findings, so it cannot establish which vendor performed best or offered the best value.
The archival listings are useful for understanding how the market was categorized at the time. They are not reliable current contact records: phone numbers, websites, ownership and product availability may have changed since publication.
What categories did it cover?
The directory ranged from core telephony systems to software and outside services. The examples below illustrate the breadth of its listings; they are not endorsements or rankings.

Services and location support
- Training and consulting: AchieveGlobal, American Productivity & Quality Center, Call Center University and Computer Telephony Institute.
- Site location: Alberta Economic Development, Manitoba Call Centre Team, Ontario Investment Service and Quebec Ministry.
That last group matters when reading the guide as a buyer’s resource: not every listing was a system manufacturer. Some organizations offered expertise, training or help identifying a location rather than a call-center product.
How to read the listings as a historical buyer
For a period-specific comparison, start with the job a listing was meant to do, then separate product providers from service organizations. The directory’s labels can help identify category fit and, where specified, deployment type such as PC-based versus another telephony system. Geography may also help distinguish a regional contact or site-location organization from a technology vendor.

Do not infer a feature set or deployment capability from a company name alone. The guide’s directory format does not supply a consistent basis for comparing performance, price or functionality across entries. Treat each listing as a lead for further historical research, not proof of a product’s capabilities.

Yes, as an archival map of the call-center industry around 1999–2000: it shows the range of categories buyers encountered and the kinds of firms serving them. It is not a current procurement list. Before relying on any company name, phone number, web address or product reference for present-day decisions, verify it independently with up-to-date sources.
