Choose busybusy if your business needs construction-focused job costing, cost codes, equipment tracking, production information, jobsite documentation, and field reports. Choose TSheets—now called QuickBooks Time if straightforward time and attendance, scheduling, mileage, approvals, and a native QuickBooks workflow matter more.
TSheets is the former name of Intuit’s time-tracking product. Current plans are marketed as QuickBooks Time and use the QuickBooks Workforce experience. The products overlap on mobile punches, GPS, and project tracking, but they are built around different workflows.

Feature-by-feature comparison
Time tracking and job allocation
Both products let workers record time on a phone or web browser. The practical test is what happens after the punch: can the worker select the correct job and cost code, change projects during the day, and submit a clean record for approval?
- Worker clocks in.
- Worker selects a project, subproject, or cost code.
- The app records location information according to its settings.
- Worker changes jobs, codes, or breaks as the day changes.
- A supervisor reviews missing punches, wrong assignments, and overtime.
- Approved time moves to payroll, accounting, or job-cost reports.
busybusy’s official app listing specifically describes project, subproject, cost-code, and equipment assignment, projected labor budgets versus actual labor costs, and labor burden by project. QuickBooks Time emphasizes project tracking, estimates versus actuals, approvals, and QuickBooks workflows.
GPS, geofencing, and privacy
GPS is a location signal, not proof of identity, attendance, productivity, or correct project selection.

- Complete Solution - Includes HN3000 AutoAlign time clock, 100 time cards, rack, ribbon, and keys for instant tracking.
- Precise Punching - AutoAlign technology ensures accurate alignment for error-free payroll records.
- Robust Warranty - Two-year warranty with unlimited customer support (Monday–Friday) guarantees reliable performance.
- Simple Setup - Plug-and-play design with clear instructions enables tracking in minutes.
- Clear Printing - High-quality uPunch ribbons deliver legible, consistent punch punches.
- busybusy says its phone-location system records pings around clock-in and clock-out, breaks, and significant location changes, using breadcrumbing rather than constant tracking of every small movement. See the FAQ.
- Ask whether location is collected only while clocked in, whether historical routes are visible, and whether equipment appears on the map.
- Determine whether a geofence merely reminds a worker or actually restricts a punch. Neither behavior guarantees that the right project was selected.
- Tell employees when location is collected, configure permissions conservatively, and provide a correction process for inaccurate locations or assignments.
Employment, privacy, wage-hour, break, travel-time, and overtime rules vary by jurisdiction. Obtain legal advice for your location rather than treating an app setting as compliance.
Job costing and equipment
busybusy is the stronger candidate when labor must be tied to cost codes, equipment, production quantities, or project budgets. QuickBooks Time can support project tracking and estimates-versus-actuals, but it is generally a broader time-and-payroll product rather than a construction operations system.
Before purchase, verify support for split shifts, travel time, overtime allocation, billable and nonbillable time, labor categories, equipment assignment, supervisor edits, approval history, and historical audit trails.

QuickBooks Time highlights scheduling, alerts, time-off management, and mileage on the appropriate tier. busybusy also offers scheduling and field-oriented workflows. Compare the number of taps required to change jobs, how schedule changes reach workers, and whether mileage is calculated and exported in the way your payroll or reimbursement process requires.
Photos, daily reports, production, and safety
busybusy’s construction-oriented materials include photos tied to time, location, employee, and project; daily project reports; safety and injury/non-injury sign-offs; and production tracking. QuickBooks Time supports photo attachments and project activity features, but buyers needing a richer jobsite record should test whether the selected plan replaces their existing forms or reporting tools.

Integrations and data mapping
QuickBooks Time has the clearest advantage when QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Payroll are already central to the business. busybusy also advertises QuickBooks and multiple construction-accounting and payroll integrations. “Integration available” does not establish that every object syncs in both directions.
Request a sample mapping for employees, customers, projects, service items, classes, cost codes, approvals, edits, and payroll status. Confirm QuickBooks Online versus Desktop support, whether the connection is direct or through a connector, how duplicate records are prevented, and whether an edit after export flows back.

busybusy says it offers more than 30 reports; that is a vendor claim, not a guarantee that every report fits your process. QuickBooks Time emphasizes submission and approval, payroll and invoicing connections, time off, alerts, mileage, signatures, and project tracking by plan.
- Regular and overtime hours
- Breaks, missing punches, and GPS exceptions
- Edits, approvals, and locked payroll periods
- Labor by project and cost code
- Equipment hours and employee burden
- Budget versus actual labor
- Mileage, PTO, daily progress, and safety records
A report is not automatically payroll-ready. Confirm that exceptions are visible, approvals are auditable, and wrong jobs or codes can be corrected before export.
Mobile, offline use, and field conditions
busybusy’s app listing advertises offline mode, kiosk mode, supervisor tools, GPS maps, equipment tracking, and project-based time entry: App Store listing. QuickBooks says its mobile app supports iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets, while noting that not every feature is available on every app or mobile browser.

Also test shared phones, kiosk or supervisor clock-ins, large sites, adjacent projects, rural addresses, battery-saving settings, and denied location permissions.
Pricing: what can be verified
QuickBooks pricing below is from the U.S. pricing page checked August 16, 2026. It excludes the required QuickBooks Online subscription, payroll add-ons, hardware, and premium integrations. The page also displayed temporary base-fee promotions. Confirm the checkout quote because other official pages showed different per-user figures.
| Plan and rate shown | 5 users | 10 users | 25 users | 50 users | 100 users |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Time Premium: $20 base + $8/user/month | $60 | $100 | $220 | $420 | $820 |
| Time Elite: $40 base + $10/user/month | $90 | $140 | $290 | $540 | $1,040 |
The base fee includes one administrator, and a 30-day trial was advertised. A temporary $10 Premium base fee and $20 Elite base fee were also displayed for three months; those promotions do not necessarily reduce per-user or other fees. See the dated pricing page.
A current official busybusy price table could not be verified here. Capterra showed a $9.99-per-month starting-price signal, while a busybusy comparison article published October 31, 2023 described Pro at $9.99 per user per month with no monthly base fee. Neither figure should be treated as current without a direct quote. Sources: Capterra and busybusy’s 2023 article.

Which is better for construction?
busybusy should be the first trial for a contractor whose profitability depends on labor by project, subproject, cost code, or equipment. It is also the more natural candidate when supervisors need jobsite photos, daily reports, production data, or safety confirmations in the same field workflow.
QuickBooks Time remains viable for construction companies that mainly need dependable punches, approvals, schedules, mileage, project hours, and payroll/accounting inside QuickBooks. The distinction is specialization, not whether QuickBooks Time can be used on a construction site.
Which is better for QuickBooks users?
QuickBooks Time is usually the simpler starting point when QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Payroll already contain the company’s employees, customers, projects, and payroll process. It reduces the number of vendors and makes native support more relevant.
busybusy can still make sense for a QuickBooks user when construction job costing, equipment, production, or field documentation is valuable enough to justify a separate operational system. Confirm exactly which records sync and where approvals occur.

- You need RFIs, submittals, document control, broad project scheduling, and full construction management rather than time tracking.
- Workers cannot reliably use personal smartphones and you lack an appropriate kiosk or shared-device plan.
- GPS acceptance, privacy, or labor relations are unresolved.
- You require specialized union, prevailing-wage, certified-payroll, or jurisdictional workflows that must be demonstrated.
- You need sophisticated dispatch, HRIS, or workforce-management capabilities beyond either product’s selected plan.
Potential comparison candidates include Workyard for construction workforce and job costing, ClockShark for construction time and scheduling, Connecteam for broader frontline operations, Hubstaff for general-purpose tracking, Jibble for basic attendance, and Procore for a broader construction-management environment.
