Brilliant Solutions has joined the Equity Release Council (ERC), adding a mortgage club and specialist distributor that works with UK advisers and lenders to the Council’s membership. The announcement signals an opportunity for industry collaboration and knowledge-sharing around later-life lending; it does not announce a new borrower product or change loan terms.
What has Brilliant Solutions joined?
The Equity Release Council describes itself as the representative trade body for the UK equity release and later-life lending sector. Brilliant Solutions is described in the announcement as a mortgage club and specialist distributor working with advisers and lenders across the UK. Its membership brings that specialist-mortgage perspective into the Council’s network.
The Council says its standards and safeguards guide member firms in advice and products. Membership is an industry affiliation, not regulatory approval of a specific product and not a recommendation that equity release is right for any individual. Equity Release Council: about and standards
Why does the membership matter to advisers?
The parties say they want closer collaboration, knowledge-sharing and wider adviser engagement on later-life lending. Brilliant Solutions managing director Michael Craig said advisers need to be able to consider different options for customers as later-life lending becomes an important part of the mortgage market. ERC head of commercial and business development Tom Brett said the Council hopes the relationship will help share knowledge and build awareness of options available to customers in later life.

Those comments describe the organizations’ aims, not a reported result. The announcement does not measure any change in adviser knowledge, customer access or lending outcomes.
What does it mean for borrowers?
For a borrower, the announcement alone does not establish that a new product is available, that rates or eligibility have changed, or that consumer protections have changed. It also gives no product terms or application route. The Council’s listing describes equity release as a way to access property wealth, including through lifetime mortgages that let older homeowners borrow against their homes, but the announcement does not compare this with other borrowing choices or assess whether it suits a particular person. Anyone considering later-life borrowing needs advice based on their own circumstances and the options available to them; a trade-body membership announcement is not individual financial advice.
