A later Hi Auto update specifically placed Spanish AI ordering at more than 400 drive-thru locations.
What Bojangles announced
The August 4, 2025 announcement expanded Bojangles’ relationship with restaurant-technology provider Hi Auto. It named three guest-facing ordering channels: drive-thrus, in-store kiosks and the mobile app. Hi Auto characterized the coordinated launch as among the first of its kind for a major U.S. quick-service restaurant brand; that industry ranking is the vendor’s claim, not an independently established comparison. Hi Auto’s announcement
The important distinction is between platform types and restaurant coverage. “Across all guest platforms” refers to the channels named in the announcement. It does not, by itself, mean every Bojangles location offers Spanish AI ordering through all three.
How Bo-Linda’s bilingual ordering is described
Bo-Linda is Bojangles’ branded AI ordering assistant, developed with Hi Auto. It first appeared as a drive-thru assistant in June 2023; it is an ordering interface integrated with restaurant operations, not a separate consumer app. The 2025 expansion added Spanish-language capability to the channels named in the announcement.

Hi Auto says customers can order in English or Spanish and switch languages during an interaction, even within a sentence. The company also says the system can handle complex orders and modifications. That is more involved than translating menu text: an ordering system must recognize speech, distinguish items and modifiers, keep the order state straight, and pass the order into restaurant systems. Hi Auto describes its wider platform as combining large language models with its own audio filtering and speech-recognition technology for drive-thru conditions. Hi Auto’s product information
Those descriptions do not establish that every menu detail or guest-facing step is fully localized. Spanish speech recognition and a complete Spanish-language experience—including menu copy, nutrition and allergen information, promotions, confirmations and receipts—are separate questions.
Where the system is documented as available
Company statements give a more specific picture of deployment than the announcement headline alone. The figures below refer to different descriptions and dates; they should not be combined into a claim of universal availability.

Hi Auto also describes its overall platform as operating across approximately 1,000 stores, with about 93% order completion and 96% accuracy. Those are company-wide vendor figures, not Bojangles-only results. Hi Auto product page
Why the chain says it expanded language support
The stated case combines access and operations. Spanish-speaking guests can place orders without depending on a bilingual employee being available at that moment. Bojangles and Hi Auto also frame automation as a way to make order-taking more consistent and give staff more time for food preparation, fulfillment and hospitality.
Bojangles CIO Richard Del Valle described employee experience as a significant benefit in the announcement. That is an executive’s account of the company’s experience, not independent workforce research. Hi Auto also presents consistent promotions and suggestive selling as potential commercial benefits; its materials quote Bojangles CEO José Armario describing a healthy increase in average check, but provide no independently verified figure. These claims make the rollout relevant to inclusion, staffing and sales, without proving a measured result for each.

What the accuracy figures do—and do not—say
Hi Auto cites roughly 96% order accuracy. On its product page, the company separately reports approximately 93% order completion and defines completion as the share of orders sent to the point-of-sale system without staff intervention. Accuracy and completion measure different things: a system may accurately process orders it completes while still handing some interactions to an employee. The company’s published figures are not an independent audit of Bojangles’ Spanish-language performance.
What “no new hardware” means
Hi Auto says the Spanish capability was added without new hardware and with minimal operational disruption. That suggests language support was added to an existing integrated deployment rather than requiring new lane equipment, but it does not mean implementation required no software configuration, integration, staff preparation or operational work. Hi Auto describes deployments as involving system integration, training, optimization and staged rollout. Hi Auto’s deployment overview

What remains unclear to customers and operators
The announcements do not settle several practical questions about the guest experience or performance. Availability may vary by location and channel, and the cited materials do not explain how a customer chooses Spanish on each platform or whether language is detected automatically.

- Adopt full duplex technology; signals can be transmitted simultaneously from different directions; window speaker intercom can automatic identification of processing speech signals during a call does not require any action
- Dual way interphone uses a 4 core high-strength aluminum foil shielded wire; strong anti-interference ability; which makes the voice clear and natural
- Easy to install; just plug the external speaker cable and power adapter into the corresponding socket; drive thru intercom equipped with 3M strong adhesive; can paste the external speaker on the glass
- Both internal and external volume of window speaker intercom can be adjusted, and anti-interference and whistle-removing circuits are provided to reproduce the original sound
- Drive thru intercom is very suitable for use in bank counters and ticket windows; the use of bulletproof glass and window intercom can greatly improve the safety of employees
- Whether Spanish ordering is enabled at every Bojangles restaurant, and whether the app and kiosks are as broadly deployed as drive-thru ordering.
- Which dialects, accents and regional food terms are supported, and how well the system handles code-switching, multiple speakers, background noise or repeated changes to an order.
- How a guest corrects a mistake or reaches an employee, and whether a handoff preserves the order so it need not be repeated.
- Whether Spanish-language menu descriptions, nutrition and allergen disclosures, promotions and confirmations are complete across channels.
- Whether conversational Spanish ordering is available through third-party delivery services, and what audio or transcript data is collected or retained.
These are questions left open by the company materials, not evidence that any particular failure has occurred. They are also useful criteria for evaluating any multilingual ordering system: language coverage, accuracy, completion, escalation, platform consistency, POS integration, accessibility, privacy and franchise-level support all matter alongside headline accuracy.
Why the rollout matters for restaurant automation
The announcement illustrates a shift from treating drive-thru AI as a single English-language voice channel to presenting language support across several ordering interfaces. If those channels work consistently, multilingual ordering could expand access while reducing the need for every location to rely on an available bilingual order-taker. But language recognition alone does not establish cultural or linguistic localization, and automation can improve speed for some guests while making the interaction feel less personal to others.
For operators, the business case cannot be inferred from the rollout announcement alone. A decision would depend on local order volume, integration and support costs, the share of interactions completed without staff help, guest satisfaction, error handling and measurable changes in throughput or average check. The available company figures do not provide a Bojangles-specific, independently verified accounting of those factors.
