A report published October 3, 2026, said Arkham Intelligence data showed Bitcoin holdings linked to BlackRock increased by a net $1.57 billion over the previous month. The same report put the linked balance at 801,769 BTC, worth about $67.87 billion at the time. The $1.57 billion is the reported monthly addition—not the total holding—and the underlying dated Arkham record was not independently verified.
What the $1.57 billion figure means
U.Today attributed the monthly figure to Arkham Intelligence. It describes a reported net increase over the month, alongside a latest reported purchase of $195.6 million. Those are article-attributed figures; the original dated Arkham portfolio record and its methodology were not independently inspected. A syndicated copy dated October 3 repeats the claims, but that is not independent corroboration. U.Today’s report and the syndicated copy are the publications carrying the figures.
The report also described 300-BTC batches moving between a Coinbase hot wallet and an address Arkham labeled as linked to BlackRock. BlackRock did not directly confirm that address attribution in the sources reviewed. Wallet movements by themselves do not establish that BlackRock’s corporate treasury bought Bitcoin, nor do they reveal investor motives.
Reported Bitcoin balance versus IBIT fund assets
The reported 801,769 BTC balance and approximately $67.87 billion valuation are estimates attributed to Arkham by U.Today. They are not the same measure as the net assets BlackRock reports for its iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT).
#1 Best Overall
| Measure | Figure | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly net addition | $1.57 billion, attributed to Arkham by U.Today | Reported increase across the prior month, not the total balance. |
| Latest reported purchase | $195.6 million, attributed to Arkham by U.Today | A purchase figure reported in the article; its underlying record was not independently checked. |
| Arkham-attributed balance | 801,769 BTC, approximately $67.87 billion at report time | A reported wallet-linked token balance and valuation, not an issuer net-assets figure. |
| IBIT net assets | $67,589,503,046 as of October 2, 2026, according to BlackRock / iShares | The fund’s reported net assets on that date, a distinct accounting measure. |
BlackRock’s IBIT product page says displayed calculated holding values use third-party vendor pricing, which may differ from the valuation price used in NAV calculations. That is another reason not to treat a wallet-based market estimate and fund net assets as interchangeable.
What BlackRock confirms about IBIT
BlackRock describes IBIT as an exchange-traded product that seeks to reflect Bitcoin’s price performance and offers Bitcoin exposure while simplifying the operational and custody complexities of holding Bitcoin directly. This is a description of the product’s objective, not a guarantee of exact tracking or an investment recommendation.

IBIT, its investors, BlackRock as sponsor, and BlackRock’s corporate treasury are not interchangeable. The report concerns addresses attributed to the fund-related activity; it does not establish that the company itself made a corporate-treasury purchase.

- Read the $1.57 billion as a reported monthly net addition, not as the size of BlackRock’s entire Bitcoin exposure.
- Treat the 801,769 BTC and approximately $67.87 billion figures as Arkham-attributed estimates reported by U.Today, not as figures BlackRock confirmed.
- Use BlackRock’s $67.59 billion IBIT net-assets figure only with its October 2, 2026 date and as a separate fund measure.
BlackRock states that IBIT is not an investment company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and therefore is not subject to the same regulatory requirements as mutual funds or ETFs registered under that Act. The issuer advises investors to consider the risk factors and other information in the prospectus before investing. See the issuer’s product page and prospectus materials for current disclosures.
