Why a three-day ranking differs from a Thanksgiving opening list
“Thanksgiving weekend” can refer to different measurement windows. The list above counts Friday through Sunday and includes films already in theaters. A five-day Thanksgiving opening chart instead counts Wednesday through Sunday and is limited to films opening over the holiday frame. Those are different questions, so their grosses should not be combined in one ranking.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches#1 Best Overall
For that separate five-day measure, Box Office Mojo’s current chart lists Moana 2 at $225,441,826, Zootopia 2 at $158,804,061 and Frozen at $93,590,387. Those five-day totals are not regular Friday-through-Sunday weekend grosses. See Box Office Mojo’s Thanksgiving opening five-day chart.
The distinction explains the different titles near the top: Wicked ranks fourth on the three-day chart, but it is not among the top entries on the five-day opening chart because it opened before that Thanksgiving frame. Frozen, meanwhile, ranks sixth on the three-day list and third on the five-day opening chart.

Box Office Mojo’s current five-day chart lists Zootopia 2’s Thanksgiving opening at $158,804,061. The Associated Press reported a different figure—$156 million—for the Wednesday-through-Sunday frame in its November 30, 2025 story, describing it as a studio estimate at that reporting date. These figures reflect different publication stages; the AP estimate should not be presented as the current chart total or silently blended with it.
The AP also reported $290 million for the total five-day Thanksgiving holiday box office in 2025. Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian called Zootopia 2’s result “a great result and a big momentum builder for the box office as we head into the final four weeks of the year.” Both the box-office estimate and the comment appeared in the AP’s November 30, 2025 report; they describe that holiday period, not the all-time three-day ranking.
