There is no verified 2023 ranking here, but Old Navy’s current fit descriptions point to three useful starting places: OG Straight for a classic straight leg, Curvy OG Straight for extra hip and thigh room with a closer waist, and Wow Flare for a high-waisted flare with three stated inseams. The right choice depends on the cut and length you want, not a universal “best” label.

How to compare Old Navy jeans

Old Navy’s denim fit guide compares jeans by leg shape and opening, hip and thigh fit, rise, stretch, and length. Use those same dimensions when narrowing your options, then check the individual product page: rise, fabric, wash, and available inseams can vary by style.

Three Old Navy fits to consider

Style Leg shape and hip/thigh fit Rise and stretch Length May suit
OG Straight Straight leg; fitted through hip and thigh Mid or high rise; medium stretch Ankle or full length Someone looking for a conventional straight-leg silhouette
Curvy OG Straight Straight leg; fitted waist with extra hip and thigh room High rise; medium stretch Ankle length in the fit guide Someone concerned about waist gapping because of their waist-to-hip proportions; this is an inference from the cut description, not a fit guarantee
Wow Flare High-waisted; snug hip and thigh; flare leg Medium stretch Short, regular, and tall inseams Someone seeking a flare with a stated inseam choice

These are Old Navy’s descriptions, not independently tested fit recommendations. The retailer calls OG Straight a bestseller, but that does not establish it as the best choice for every wearer. Old Navy’s denim fit guide provides the brand’s stated comparisons.

OG Straight: a classic straight-leg starting point

Old Navy describes OG Straight as a straight-leg jean fitted through the hip and thigh, with mid- or high-rise options, medium stretch, and ankle or full lengths. It is the clearest starting point if you want a conventional straight silhouette; check the particular wash and product listing for the rise and length offered.

Curvy OG Straight: more room through the hip and thigh

The Curvy version keeps a straight leg while adding hip and thigh room and a fitted waist intended to minimize gapping. Old Navy lists it as high rise with medium stretch and ankle length in its fit guide. That design may be worth trying if waist gapping is a concern, but the brand description cannot guarantee how a pair will fit an individual body.

Wow Flare: a flare with three stated inseams

Old Navy describes Wow Flare as high-waisted, snug through the hip and thigh, and flared at the leg, with medium stretch. Its product page states a 28-inch short inseam for people 5’3" and below, a 30-inch regular inseam for 5’4" to 5’8", and a 33-inch tall inseam for 5’9" and above. These are the retailer’s stated height ranges, not a substitute for checking the finished length you prefer. See Old Navy’s Wow Flare product details.

What Old Navy means by “OG” and “Wow”

In Old Navy’s own explanation, OG styles have a more structured, classic-denim feel and a relaxed fit, while “Wow” is a separate style family. Treat that as the retailer’s description rather than an independent assessment of fabric or wear. Old Navy’s high-waisted jeans guide explains the brand’s OG-versus-Wow distinction.

Does this identify the best jeans from 2023?

No. The available pages describe current fit options and do not establish which jeans Old Navy sold in 2023 or which styles ranked best that year. The current women’s jeans category is useful for checking present listings, but it is not evidence of historical stock or a 2023 ranking. Accordingly, the three fits above are current examples to compare, not a retrospective 2023 “best of” list.

Before choosing a pair

  • Decide whether you prefer a straight leg or a flare, then compare the fit through the hip and thigh.
  • Check the rise, stretch, wash, and inseam on the exact product page; offerings may differ among products and can change.
  • Use the product’s size chart rather than assuming that one style’s sizing or fit description applies to another.
  • Confirm current price and stock directly with Old Navy, since both are subject to change.
