Best Buy’s strongest visible Galaxy S21 offer was a pre-owned Excellent, unlocked 128GB model for $249.99, down $30 from a $279.99 comparable value. That is approximately 10.7% off—not a huge markdown. The listing evidence was crawled before August 18, 2026, so check the live product page for today’s price, seller, stock, delivery and pickup before ordering.

See Best Buy’s current Galaxy S21 results at Best Buy. The page also showed other pre-owned 128GB colors around $269.99 and a 256GB listing at $549.97. Those are different configurations or listings, so they are not direct evidence that the $249.99 offer is available in every color or storage size.
How big is the saving?
The arithmetic is straightforward: $279.99 − $249.99 = $30 saved. Dividing $30 by $279.99 gives approximately 10.7% off. Before tax, the phone costs $249.99. Sales tax, accessories, optional protection coverage and any financing costs can raise the final total.
That makes this an inexpensive way to get an older Samsung flagship, but “huge savings” overstates the promotion. The available evidence does not support claims that it is half price, more than $300 off or the lowest price ever.

What “pre-owned Excellent” means here
The $249.99 result is not a new, factory-sealed phone. Best Buy distinguishes pre-owned products, which are used and restored to working order, from refurbished products, which have been repaired and restored to a like-new state. “Excellent” is a condition grade, not a battery-capacity guarantee.
Before paying, open the individual listing and confirm:
- Who sells and ships the phone—Best Buy or a marketplace partner.
- The cosmetic-grade description and any disclosed wear.
- Whether a minimum battery capacity is guaranteed.
- Exactly what is included: charger, cable, SIM tool and box.
- That the device is carrier-unlocked, free of account locks and not blacklisted.
- The return window, restocking rules, warranty and any coverage offered.
Do not assume a used handset remains water-resistant. The original IP68 rating does not prove that a previously opened, repaired or heavily worn phone still seals against water. Samsung’s U.S. mobile warranty terms also contain exclusions for ordinary dealer-resold used products; a Best Buy pre-owned phone does not automatically carry Samsung’s standard warranty. Read the terms at Samsung’s warranty page.

- The Galaxy S21 FE sports a sleek polycarbonate back with a premium matte finish that resists fingerprints and feels smooth in hand, giving it a stylish yet practical design.
What the Galaxy S21 still offers
Samsung’s original unlocked specifications include a compact 6.2-inch-class Dynamic AMOLED 2X display at 2400 × 1080, 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB storage, and U.S. 5G support for relevant sub-6GHz and mmWave variants. It launched with Android 11.
- Rear cameras: 12MP wide, 64MP telephoto and 12MP ultrawide.
- Front camera: 10MP.
- Charging: up to 25W wired and 15W wireless, plus Wireless PowerShare.
- Other features: USB-C, Samsung DeX and an original IP68 rating.
These are launch specifications, not promises about the condition of a particular used unit, its battery or its current software. Review the official details at Samsung’s Galaxy S21 support page.
Reasons to hesitate
Age and update uncertainty
The S21 is an older generation. Samsung continues to provide manuals and product support, but the available information does not establish one definitive August 2026 security-update cutoff for every U.S. S21 variant. Check the exact model number and installed Android/security-patch level, and do not assume that every carrier variant receives identical updates. If you plan to keep a phone for several years, a newer Galaxy with a longer remaining support window may be safer.
Rank #3
- The Galaxy S21+ features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Quad HD+ resolution and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, which intelligently adjusts the refresh rate depending on what you’re doing to balance smooth visuals and battery efficiency. Its HDR10+ support ensures vibrant colors, deep contrasts, and sharp detail, making movies, games, and apps look exceptionally immersive.
Battery wear
Battery capacity declines with age and use, and the Best Buy search result did not state a percentage. Ask about any minimum-capacity policy, then test standby drain, charging, wireless charging and normal-use endurance during the return period.
Storage and accessories
There is no microSD slot. Heavy users of games, video or offline media may find 128GB restrictive. The S21 also launched without a charger in many markets, and a pre-owned listing may include only the handset or a third-party cable and adapter. Check the live “what’s included” section.

Carrier compatibility
“Unlocked” does not guarantee identical performance on every U.S. network. Verify the model number, AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon/MVNO compatibility, VoLTE and 5G support, and eSIM availability if needed.

What to verify before ordering
- Record the exact product title, SKU and model number.
- Confirm the current price, comparable price and calculated saving.
- Check the condition grade, seller and fulfillment party.
- Read battery-health language and the included-accessories list.
- Review the return period, restocking rules, warranty and protection-plan terms.
- Enter your ZIP code to confirm shipping cost, delivery date and store pickup.
- Confirm the phone is unlocked and compatible with your carrier.
- Check whether tax, activation or other fees apply.
Search-result delivery dates and “pick up today” labels can be stale or store-specific. Do not treat them as a national promise. Best Buy’s broader results are at this search page.
Test the phone immediately after delivery
- Inspect the display for burn-in, dead pixels, scratches and touch problems.
- Test every camera, autofocus, flash and video stabilization.
- Check fingerprint unlock, face unlock, buttons, speakers, microphones and vibration.
- Verify Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, cellular data, calls, texts, VoLTE and 5G.
- Test USB-C and wireless charging and monitor battery drain.
- Check the IMEI, factory-reset protection, Samsung-account removal and software-update availability.
Who should buy it?
Buy if the live price remains near $250, the unit is genuinely unlocked and carrier-compatible, the seller and return policy are clear, and you accept used condition and potentially reduced battery life. It is most sensible for a budget-conscious Samsung buyer, a short-term replacement or someone who values DeX, wireless charging, an AMOLED display and IP68 design at a low upfront cost.
Who should skip it?
Skip if the price rises materially above $250, the marketplace seller is unclear, no battery assurance is offered, or you need several years of dependable security support. Also look elsewhere if you require maximum battery life, expandable storage, the newest camera and AI features, guaranteed eSIM or carrier-band support, or a newer phone is close in total cost after promotions.

Best Buy’s higher-priced 256GB result is not a like-for-like bargain without confirming its condition and seller. Samsung Certified Re-Newed phones are another route: Samsung says the program includes a certified battery, genuine Samsung parts, inspection, a one-year warranty and software-update support, but the exact S21 model and current price must be checked at Samsung Certified Re-Newed. A newer Galaxy may offer better long-term value if its live price is close.
Bottom line for August 18, 2026
The defensible verdict is good, but not huge: a pre-owned Excellent unlocked Galaxy S21 5G 128GB at $249.99 would save $30, or about 10.7%, if that price is still live. Verify the listing immediately before checkout because the available pages were crawled earlier, and price, color, stock, seller, delivery and pickup can change by ZIP code.
