Several major retailers had started their sales by that Wednesday, but Black Friday itself fell on Friday, November 29.
Were Black Friday deals live on November 27, 2024?
Yes. In the United States, November 27, 2024 was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Retailers had already begun promotions, though the calendar date called Black Friday was November 29. Amazon explains that Black Friday falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving in its Black Friday overview.
The announcements below describe the retailers’ plans for 2024. Their offers, prices, availability, and terms have expired; they do not establish what any retailer sells for today.
Which retailers had promotions running?
| Retailer | Announced 2024 schedule | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon | Black Friday Week ran November 21 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific through November 29 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific. | Amazon announced themed daily deal drops and offers across categories including electronics, home, and beauty. Source: Amazon. |
| Target | Deals were available online and in stores November 21–30; separately announced three-day deals ran November 28–30. | Target said stores would be closed Thanksgiving Day. Source: Target. |
| Best Buy | Its Black Friday Sale began November 21. | The announcement listed store hours for November 25–27 and said stores would be closed Thanksgiving Day. Source: Best Buy. |
| Walmart | A sequence of Black Friday and Cyber Monday events ran across November. | Walmart’s November 18 announcement covered categories including toys, tech, and fashion and included individual examples. Source: Walmart. |

| Macy’s | Promotions ran throughout November; its Parade of Deals ran November 11–28. | Source: Macy’s. |
These schedules show why a November 27 deals roundup could include live promotions without calling that date Black Friday. Dates and conditions varied by retailer and offer; the announcements do not establish which store had the lowest price for an identical item.

One documented 2024 deal example
Walmart’s November 18 announcement listed the Blackstone Original 2-Burner 28-inch Propane Griddle at $147, with a stated $50 saving. That was a historical advertised price, not a current price or proof of current stock. See Walmart’s announcement for the original offer.

A sale label alone cannot tell you whether a price is competitive. When comparing a current offer—or reviewing a historical one—match the exact model and check the details that affect the real cost:

- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
- Compare the same model, including size, generation, and included accessories.
- Check the price at each retailer and whether the item is actually in stock.
- Account for shipping, pickup, and any membership or eligibility requirements.
- Note the offer’s end time and read its exclusions and other terms.
- For an archived deal, record the retailer and date beside the quoted price; do not imply it is still available.
