As of October 4, 2026, the highest advertised bonus in this selection is Banner Bank’s up to $1,000 for business accounts—not a standard personal checking bonus. Banner Bank’s personal-account offer reaches up to $800. Other current examples range from $250 to $600, but each has its own location, eligibility, deposit, balance, activity and deadline rules. These are sourced examples, not a comprehensive national ranking.

Offer terms below reflect official promotion pages reviewed on October 4, 2026. Availability can change; confirm the current terms with the bank before opening an account.
| Bank and offer | Who can qualify and what to do | Deadline and payout |
|---|---|---|
| Banner Bank personal accounts: up to $800 total | Available to residents of Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho. Personal checking has $250 and $400 tiers: receive at least $2,500 or $5,000 in direct deposits within 60 days, respectively, and maintain the corresponding balance for 90 days. Personal savings has $250 and $400 tiers: deposit and maintain $5,000 or $25,000 in new money, respectively. | Offer expires October 31, 2026. The personal maximum combines checking and savings offers. |
| Banner Bank business accounts: up to $1,000 | Business offer; open at a branch using an offer code supplied by Banner Bank. The offer requires deposits and balances; the reviewed page’s summary does not state the thresholds. | Check the bank’s current business-offer terms and code availability before applying. |
| Chase Total Checking: $400 | For eligible new Total Checking customers. Enroll in the offer and receive at least $1,000 in qualifying direct deposits within 90 days. Chase defines these as electronic paycheck, pension or government-benefit payments from an employer or government agency. Check deposits, person-to-person payments, transfers from another bank or brokerage, tax refunds, dividends, retirement distributions, debit-card transactions and wires do not qualify. Existing Chase checking customers are excluded; so are accounts closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within three years. New checking bonuses are limited to one every two years. | Offer page states an October 14, 2026 expiration. Chase says it pays the bonus within 15 days after the qualifying deposits. |
| Wells Fargo Everyday Checking: $325 | For a new consumer checking customer who opens with the offer code and receives at least $1,000 in qualifying electronic deposits within 90 calendar days. Eligible deposit types include specified ACH direct deposits, RTP/FedNow instant payments and qualifying card-network credits. Ordinary account transfers, mobile deposits, Zelle, and branch or ATM deposits do not qualify. Keep the account open through bonus payment. | Open by October 13, 2026. Wells Fargo says it will pay within 30 days after requirements are met. |
| SoFi direct-deposit cash bonus: up to $400 | The first eligible direct deposit must arrive by December 31, 2026. SoFi adds eligible deposits received during the next 25 calendar days: a total of $1,000–$4,999.99 earns $50; $5,000 or more earns $400. Eligible deposits are recurring ACH income from an employer, payroll or benefits provider, or government agency. Bank transfers, wires, P2P payments, checks and tax refunds are among the exclusions. The account must remain open and in good standing. | SoFi says payment is within seven business days after requirements are complete. Its page also advertises an APY boost; that is a separate rate promotion, so verify its current rate and terms independently. |
| Old National consumer checking: up to $600 | For eligible customers new to Old National personal checking who open ONB Everyday or Preferred Checking with a $50 minimum deposit. The $600 tier requires at least three qualifying direct deposits totaling $12,000 in the first four months; the $300 tier requires at least three totaling $3,500. Online opening is available to residents of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Tennessee and Wisconsin. External transfers, wires, P2P payments and teller, ATM or mobile deposits do not qualify. | Open between February 3 and October 30, 2026. The balance must be positive when the bonus is credited, which Old National expects between days 121 and 140. |
| Delta Community Credit Union checking promotion: $250 | For Georgia residents who qualify as first-time members during the promotion. Open savings and checking with code CHECKING250_FALL26, deposit at least $5 into savings, receive at least $1,000 in employer-originated ACH payroll deposits and make 10 Visa debit purchases within 90 days. The page states savings APY of 0.25% and interest checking APY of 0.10% as of October 1, 2026; rates can change and fees may reduce earnings. | Qualifying period is October 1–November 30, 2026. Delta Community says it pays within 60 days after completion. |
How to choose an offer you can actually earn
Compare the requirements you can meet—not just the largest headline. A useful shortlist should account for the qualifying deposit type and amount, the time allowed, any balance hold or purchase requirement, your location and prior-customer status, account fees and waiver rules, the offer deadline, and when the bonus is paid. The offers above do not provide a complete, like-for-like fee comparison, so the largest advertised bonus cannot be assumed to have the highest net value.
- Check eligibility first. Confirm state or membership limits and whether a prior account or past bonus disqualifies you.
- Match the deposit definition. A payment that appears in your account is not automatically a qualifying direct deposit. Employer payroll, benefits, bank transfers and P2P payments can be treated differently by each institution.
- Map the calendar. Note whether the clock starts at enrollment, account opening or the first deposit, and allow for the separate payout window.
- Check balance and activity requirements. A balance may need to remain in place for a set period; another offer may require debit-card purchases or multiple deposits.
- Review account costs and closure terms. Verify monthly fees, any waiver conditions and whether the account must remain open until the bonus arrives.
Why the $1,000 headline needs a qualification
Banner Bank’s reviewed offer page advertises up to $1,000 for business accounts, with branch opening and a bank-supplied offer code. Its personal offer is separate and tops out at $800 across personal checking and savings. Readers looking for a personal checking bonus should not treat the business figure as an available consumer offer.
Expired offer excluded
A BMO search result showed a $400 promotion, but its account-opening deadline was September 8, 2026. It had expired by October 4 and is not included as a current offer here.
