AWS Marketplace’s re:Invent 2025 update is more than an AI-powered catalog search. AWS is connecting discovery, private pricing, multi-product packaging, professional-services billing and deployment permissions into a broader procurement workflow. The five changes can shorten buying and onboarding, but they do not remove security review, contract negotiation, cost modeling or seller-eligibility limits.
AWS announced the changes in late November and December 2025. The overview is available in AWS Marketplace’s re:Invent 2025 summary.
What changed in AWS Marketplace?
AWS is positioning Marketplace as a procurement and deployment layer for SaaS, AI agents, machine-learning products, containers, AMIs, APIs, professional services and packaged solutions. The practical change is a connected path from finding a product to negotiating terms, assembling a solution, paying for delivery and configuring AWS resources.
| Change | What it does | Who benefits most | Availability or limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agent Mode | Conversational discovery, comparisons, document-based requirements and proposal generation | Buyers evaluating unfamiliar software and AI products | Recommendations still depend on listing data and eligible inventory |
| Express Private Offers | Generates personalized pricing under seller-defined rules | Buyers with repeatable requirements; sellers with standardized discounts | Opt-in for sellers; complex deals can require sales involvement |
| Multi-product solutions | Packages products and services from multiple partners around a use case | Organizations that want one procurement motion | Component prices and terms can remain separate |
| Variable payments | Allows professional-services charges tied to time, milestones or delivery events | Buyers funding iterative AI and cloud projects | Contract caps and approval rules still need to be negotiated |
| IAM temporary delegation | Lets an eligible partner request narrowly scoped, expiring permissions | Customers trying to reduce onboarding work | Customer approval, least privilege and logging remain essential |
AWS’s current AI Agents and Tools catalog illustrates the range: pre-built agents, agent tools, development solutions, embedded-agent software and professional services delivered as SaaS, APIs, AMIs, containers, Helm charts, CloudFormation stacks and EKS add-ons.

1. Agent Mode changes how buyers search
Traditional Marketplace search starts with a product category or vendor name. Agent Mode is designed to start with a business problem and constraints. A request such as “find an endpoint-security platform that ingests CloudTrail and GuardDuty data, supports a regulated workload in my region and fits a 12-month contract” can lead to follow-up questions and a narrower shortlist.
What Agent Mode can do
- Interpret natural-language requirements and ask clarifying questions.
- Provide product insights and dynamic side-by-side comparisons.
- Accept uploaded documents to refine technical or business requirements.
- Produce a purchasing proposal that can be shared with internal stakeholders.
- Work through the AWS Marketplace website and, according to AWS, AI applications that support MCP integration.
AWS describes it as purpose-built software-procurement assistance, not a general chatbot. It is best understood as a discovery and comparison aid, not an autonomous buyer. A generated proposal is not a signed contract, and a recommendation is not an AWS endorsement.
How to validate an AI-generated shortlist
- Confirm the product type: application, autonomous agent, API, development tool, infrastructure component or consulting engagement.
- Check deployment location, supported AWS Regions, data residency and integration prerequisites.
- Verify security certifications, encryption, subprocessors, support coverage and incident obligations directly with the seller.
- Normalize pricing units. A per-seat quote, per-request agent charge and infrastructure bill are not directly comparable.
- Ask for renewal, minimum-usage, data-export and termination terms before treating the proposal as a purchasing decision.
Uploaded requirement documents may contain confidential architecture or customer information. Establish your organization’s policy for what can be submitted and who can review generated comparisons. AWS has not established that Agent Mode independently verifies every listing, normalizes total cost or detects stale metadata.
2. Express Private Offers compress the discount cycle
Express Private Offers are an opt-in workflow announced November 30, 2025. A participating seller defines pricing rules; a customer supplies qualifying requirements such as term length; Marketplace evaluates the request; and a personalized offer can be generated in minutes. Requests outside those rules can be routed to a sales representative. AWS says the feature is available in Regions where the Marketplace website is supported, subject to the seller and deal qualifying.

What improves
- Standard discounts can be delivered without repeated email exchanges.
- Sellers can apply a consistent pricing policy to repeatable deals.
- Sales teams can focus on legal, security and genuinely custom negotiations.
What remains outside the automation
- Custom legal redlines, unusual payment terms and complex enterprise agreements.
- Security, privacy and architecture reviews.
- Bundling that falls outside the seller’s configured rules.
- Implementation, support, AWS consumption and usage overages unless explicitly included.
This is not an automatic-discount program for every Marketplace listing. A fast offer can reduce procurement time without reducing total cost, so compare the offer with direct-vendor pricing and the full AWS bill.
3. Multi-product solutions move Marketplace toward outcomes
Under multi-product solutions, a partner can combine its own services or software with authorized products from other AWS Partners and, where supported, AWS integrations. The customer gets a solution-oriented buying experience and one primary procurement contact, while each component can retain its own price and terms. Renewals and terms may remain independently manageable.
AWS’s December 2025 overview reported more than 60 such solutions at that time, including combinations involving Accenture, Elastic, Presidio, Zscaler, TEKsystems Global Services, Deloitte and Amazon Connect. That was a dated figure, not a current catalog count.
Questions to ask before approving a bundle
- Which components were actually tested together, and under what workload?
- Who owns an incident that crosses vendor boundaries?
- Which company receives data, and where is it processed?
- Do all components renew together, or can one be removed?
- Are discounts applied to the complete solution or only individual products?
- Who pays for implementation overruns and integration changes?
- What happens if one component changes its API, license or price?
A single procurement contact can simplify approvals, but it does not automatically create a single contract, integrated platform or unified support obligation.
4. Variable payments fit uncertain AI and consulting work
Variable payments for professional services became generally available November 30, 2025. A seller can set a contract maximum and submit payment requests as work is delivered rather than requiring the entire amount upfront or using only fixed installments.
Supported commercial patterns
- Time and materials.
- Milestone completion.
- Outcome- or delivery-based requests.
- Payment requests against a predetermined contract cap.
- Manual customer approval, with optional auto-approval workflows.
The model is relevant to data-readiness work, agent implementation, model evaluation, contact-center modernization, cloud migration, security programs, managed AI operations and iterative proofs of concept. Those projects often change as data quality, integrations and model behavior become clearer.

Protect the budget in the contract
- State the maximum commitment and whether unused funds expire or return.
- Define deliverables, acceptance tests and milestone evidence.
- Document change-order rules and what can consume the cap.
- Set approval deadlines and dispute, credit or refund procedures.
- Assign ownership of prompts, source code, data, models and documentation.
- Specify post-project support, service levels and handoff obligations.
A cap limits the agreed commitment; it is not a guarantee that the project will achieve its intended business outcome. Outcome-based pricing also requires an objective definition of success, especially where the customer controls data, adoption or operating conditions.
5. Temporary IAM delegation targets the onboarding bottleneck
IAM temporary delegation lets an eligible partner request time-limited permissions to configure resources in a customer’s AWS account. The customer reviews the requested permissions and duration in the AWS Management Console before approval, and the delegated access expires automatically when the approved period ends.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

- The partner presents a requested scope and duration.
- The customer or administrator reviews the IAM actions, resources and expiration.
- The customer approves only the access needed for onboarding, upgrades, maintenance or configuration.
- The partner performs the work during the approved window.
- Access expires; the customer reviews created roles, policies and resources afterward.
AWS also describes administrator approval workflows, permission boundaries for longer-lived roles and guided onboarding. Launch examples named by AWS include Archera, Aviatrix, CrowdStrike, Databricks, HashiCorp, Qumulo, Rapid7 and SentinelOne. These are integration examples, not blanket endorsements.
Security review checklist
- List every requested IAM action and the resources it can affect.
- Determine whether access is read-only, write-capable or able to escalate privileges.
- Confirm the exact expiration time and whether any persistent role remains.
- Check for a permissions boundary and account-level administrator approval.
- Enable and review CloudTrail logging and relevant alerts before onboarding.
- Determine whether the partner can read customer data or only configure infrastructure.
- Ask how support personnel are controlled and whether access can be reused.
Temporary credentials can still cause significant damage while active. The AWS Partner Network article describes the feature in the context of eligible ISV Accelerate Partners, so customers should verify partner and product eligibility rather than assume universal availability.

Use-case and deployment fit
- Identify whether you are buying a complete application, agent, API, runtime component or services engagement.
- Confirm whether delivery is SaaS, AMI, container, API, Helm, CloudFormation, EKS add-on or AgentCore-related.
- Map the account, Region and data flows before approving deployment.
Total cost of ownership
Model the Marketplace fee or subscription together with AWS compute, storage, model-inference, data-transfer, logging, support, implementation, renewal and minimum-usage charges. A private offer or bundle may cover only the seller’s product fee.

Governance and exit
- Review compliance scope, subprocessors, encryption and retention.
- Assign incident and support ownership across AWS, the seller and any integrator.
- Confirm data export, API compatibility, termination notice and decommissioning assistance.
- Test cancellation and renewal terms before committing to a long contract.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat sellers and partners should prepare
- Keep listing metadata precise enough for Agent Mode: supported Regions, deployment method, data handling, integrations and pricing units.
- Configure Express Private Offer rules that cover common deals without hiding important exclusions.
- Define support ownership and renewal mechanics for every component in a multi-product solution.
- Use measurable milestones or outcomes for services, and make caps and change orders unambiguous.
- Explain usage meters so buyers can forecast AI costs.
- Design temporary delegation around least privilege, boundaries, expiration and auditable activity.
- Check that Marketplace packaging fits direct-sales, reseller and channel policies.
How to interpret AWS’s speed claims
AWS’s AI Marketplace page presents a 60% procurement-time-savings figure tied to an AWS-commissioned Forrester study and a composite organization. AWS also says Marketplace customers can reach market 30% faster. These are vendor-presented findings, not universal independent benchmarks. A CRN report at CRN includes partner and executive context, including an anecdotal claim of three-times-faster procurement from Innovative Solutions.
Use such figures as directional evidence that workflow friction may fall, not as a promise for your organization. Faster procurement creates value only when product validation, total-cost analysis and access governance keep pace.
Bottom line
AWS is trying to make Marketplace behave less like a software shelf and more like an AI procurement, packaging and deployment system. Agent Mode can improve discovery; Express Private Offers can speed qualifying discounts; multi-product solutions can simplify coordination; variable payments can fit iterative services; and temporary IAM delegation can remove onboarding work. None replaces independent validation of security, cost, accountability, eligibility or exit terms.
