Ares Management Corporation announced on October 1, 2026, that it had raised approximately $4.2 billion for its inaugural Ares Global Structured Solutions Fund (AGSS) and affiliated vehicles, against a $1 billion target. The announcement describes a fund designed to provide flexible capital to private-equity managers—not a retail investment product—and does not disclose its economics, investor access, or performance.

What Ares announced

Ares said the final close for AGSS and affiliated vehicles totaled approximately $4.2 billion, significantly exceeding the fund’s $1 billion target. The company release uses “Global Structured Solutions Strategy” in its headline, while naming the fund itself the Ares Global Structured Solutions Fund (AGSS) in the body. The $4.2 billion figure covers the fund and affiliated vehicles; the announcement does not break out their respective amounts.

These figures come from Ares’ own October 1, 2026 announcement, rather than independent verification of the fund’s terms or results. Read Ares’ announcement.

What structured solutions mean in this announcement

A general partner (GP) is a private-markets fund manager; a limited partner (LP) is an investor in a fund. Ares says AGSS is intended to partner with managers seeking flexible capital for several strategic purposes:

  • Larger commitments to funds: provide capital that can help a manager increase its commitment to its own funds.
  • Seeding a strategy: make structured LP commitments to support the launch of new strategies.
  • Succession planning: support managers as they plan ownership or leadership transitions.

The release also describes continuation vehicles and GP stakes as part of the broader Ares Secondaries Group’s GP-oriented offerings. It does not state that AGSS’s $4.2 billion is allocated to those instruments, identify the specific structures it will use, or describe a particular security, return, fee, leverage, or liquidity term.

How the fund fits into Ares’ secondaries business

Ares reported that its funds had deployed nearly $9 billion across structured-solutions transactions since 2013. This is a rounded, cumulative company figure; the announcement does not provide a deal-by-deal schedule. Ares also reported $44 billion managed by the Ares Secondaries Group as of June 30, 2026.

Separately, Ares reported more than $671 billion in assets under management across the full Ares Management Corporation platform as of June 30, 2026. That company-wide figure is not AGSS fund assets or Secondaries Group assets. The release describes the Secondaries Group’s track record as spanning more than 30 years; that characterization is Ares’ own, not an independently audited chronology in the announcement.

What the fundraising figure does—and does not—tell investors

The close indicates that Ares says it secured substantial capital for this strategy, but the amount alone does not reveal the fund’s likely returns, risk, liquidity, or investment terms. The release does not disclose:

  • Fund economics, fees, or investment terms
  • Investor identities or the number of investors
  • Geographic allocation
  • Eligibility requirements or how an investor could access the fund
  • Fund performance or a detailed allocation of capital among transaction types

Accordingly, the raise should be read as institutional fundraising news, not as an offer or recommendation for individual investors. Ares Co-President Blair Jacobson called the close evidence of “increasing demand for tailored GP solutions”; that is the executive’s view in the company release, not a quantified measure of market-wide demand.
