The claim that a snowstorm is already causing cancellations at United Airlines’ biggest hubs—and that United has issued a related travel warning—has not been verified. Check your own flight directly with United before changing travel plans; the available evidence does not confirm an active storm notice, a current waiver, or cancellations at any hub.
Are United flights canceled because of a snowstorm?
There is no verified event-specific cancellation count, affected travel date, or United snowstorm warning to confirm that United flights are being canceled at its hubs. A general headline cannot establish whether a particular flight is operating. The current status of your itinerary is the most useful information for deciding what to do.
United identifies seven domestic hub cities: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark/New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. The hub list provides context, not evidence that flights at those airports are currently canceled. United investor relations
How to check whether your United flight is canceled
- Open United’s flight-status page.
- Search by flight number or route, as the status tool allows.
- Check again before leaving for the airport and monitor the notification channels associated with your booking for changes.
Use the status for your own itinerary rather than inferring its fate from a storm report or conditions at a hub. The available United status page supports checking a specific route or flight number; it does not establish that a general warning is active.

What a travel waiver or DOT dashboard can tell you
A search result for a United delay-and-cancellation page archived in 2017 says the airline may issue travel waivers during severe weather and describes flight notification channels. That archived information does not confirm a waiver for this storm or establish current waiver terms. Look for a current United notice before relying on any change option.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Airline Customer Service Dashboard summarizes airline commitments for controllable delays and cancellations. It is not a blanket promise of reimbursement or compensation when weather disrupts a flight. Whether an expense or alternative is covered depends on the applicable airline commitment and circumstances; do not treat weather disruption as automatically covered by the dashboard.
