Yes—Amazon removed the option to archive new orders in at least its U.S. shopping experience by 2025. Amazon staff said the feature was no longer available, but did not say why it was removed or whether it would return. That is different from deleting orders archived in the past: Amazon UK says customers can still find those through order search or date filters. Because Amazon’s guidance differs by marketplace, check the Your Orders page for your own account.
What happened to Amazon’s Archive Order button?
Two Amazon staff replies on the company’s U.S. customer-forum site confirmed the control had been removed. On May 2, 2025, staff member Diane B. wrote, “You can no longer archive orders,” and suggested Amazon Family for people who want separate order histories (Amazon customer forum). On July 30, 2025, staff member Ankush said the feature was “not available anymore” and that Amazon did not know if or when it would be restored (Amazon customer forum).
Those statements address creating a new archived order; they do not establish that Amazon deleted orders customers had archived earlier. Nor do they provide a reason for removing the control. Availability and instructions may vary between marketplaces, so the button’s absence in your account is the most relevant guide to what you can do there.
Are orders archived in the past deleted?
There is no evidence in these notices that Amazon deleted historical archived orders. Amazon UK’s help page says customers can locate previously archived orders in Your Orders by searching for the order or filtering by the order’s original purchase date (Amazon UK help: archived orders).

- Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
- Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
- Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
This guidance is specific to Amazon UK and does not settle how every marketplace currently displays older archived orders. If you used the feature before, open Your Orders on the marketplace where you bought the item, search for it, or narrow the results to its purchase date. An archived order’s absence from the default list is not proof that the purchase record was erased.
How can you keep household purchases private now?
Use Amazon Family for separate order histories
Amazon presents Amazon Family as the account-level option for households that want separate histories. Linked members use their own sign-ins and have separate order histories, rather than relying on an archived order being less visible in one shared account. Amazon’s UK help page describes this separation, and its UK guidance also identifies Amazon Family as the alternative now that hiding an order is unavailable (Amazon UK help; About Amazon UK).

Amazon UK’s About Amazon page contains an update saying, “The option to hide an Amazon order is no longer available,” while also retaining older instructions for archiving an order. Treat those older instructions as legacy unless the control actually appears in your account.
Turn off Alexa shopping notifications for delivery privacy
If the concern is a gift being announced or displayed by an Echo device, Alexa’s Amazon Shopping notification settings can prevent delivery details from being spoken or shown (About Amazon UK). This only addresses Alexa notifications; it does not hide or remove an order from the Amazon account’s order history.

What to check in your Amazon account
- Open Your Orders on the Amazon marketplace where you made the purchase and look for an archive control. Do not rely on older help steps if the control is absent.
- To locate a past archived purchase, search for the order or filter the order list by the original purchase date, as Amazon UK documents.
- For household privacy, consider Amazon Family and make sure each person uses their own sign-in; the purpose is separate order histories, not a hidden order inside one shared history.
- If an Echo device may reveal a delivery, adjust Alexa’s Amazon Shopping notification settings. This limits device notifications, not access to the account’s order history.
