What the original Apple Vision Pro pre-order included
Apple announced U.S. pre-orders for Friday, January 19, 2024, followed by store sales and deliveries on Friday, February 2, 2024. The launch price was $3,499 for 256GB. Apple sold the headset through its U.S. website, Apple Store app, and U.S. retail stores, rather than making ordinary third-party retailers the standard launch channel. Apple’s launch announcement contains the original dates, price, and package contents.
Apple also offered one-to-one demonstrations at stores on launch day. The store announcement described demos, guided discovery, and purchases in Apple locations.

How to buy Apple Vision Pro now
- Open the Vision Pro buying page or your regional Apple Store.
- Select the current M5 model and storage capacity. Apple confirms 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options; verify the live checkout for each current price.
- Answer Apple’s vision questions so it can determine whether you need ZEISS Readers or Prescription Optical Inserts.
- Complete the fitting scan with an iPhone or iPad that has Face ID and the current Apple Store app when prompted.
- Review the proposed Light Seal and band selections. These are fit components, not cosmetic choices.
- Add optical inserts if required, upload the requested prescription, and check the validity deadline shown in checkout.
- Choose delivery or Apple Store pickup, then review the estimated date before payment.
- Check current AppleCare terms and service fees before adding coverage.
If you do not have a suitable Face ID device, an Apple Store Specialist can perform the fitting during an in-person buying session.
Do you need ZEISS Optical Inserts?
Apple Vision Pro is designed to be worn without ordinary glasses; standard spectacles cannot be worn inside the headset. Many glasses wearers therefore need ZEISS inserts. Apple’s U.S. buying information says a valid, unexpired prescription from an eye-care professional is required for prescription inserts, and the prescription may be uploaded after ordering. Apple recommends adding inserts during the original order because the Light Seal must be compatible with them. Ordering inserts later may require purchasing a different Light Seal. See the U.S. buying page and FAQ for the current process.
- ZEISS Readers: Historical U.S. launch price was $99.
- ZEISS Prescription Inserts: Historical U.S. launch price was $149.
- Soft contact lenses: You may not need inserts if your lenses correctly provide the distance vision required by Vision Pro.
- Prescription timing: Apple’s U.S. page has stated that an eligible prescription must be supplied within 30 days of the order; follow the deadline displayed for your order.
Price: the headline amount is not the complete budget

| M5 Vision Pro | Starts at $3,499 in the U.S.; capacities are 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Check live checkout for higher-tier prices. |
| Optical inserts | Current checkout price should be confirmed; the $99 and $149 figures above are historical launch prices. |
| Travel Case | $199 U.S. price signal in Apple’s M5 announcement. |
| Additional Dual Knit Band | $99 separately in Apple’s M5 announcement; the updated model includes a Dual Knit Band. |
| AppleCare | Check the current AppleCare+ terms and AppleCare overview for eligibility, premiums, and service fees. |

Why an Apple Store demo is worth scheduling
A demo lets a Specialist measure fit and lets you judge comfort before committing several thousand dollars. It is especially valuable because the Light Seal and band affect the headset’s seal, field of view, eye tracking, and long-session comfort. You can also compare the included band configuration, ask about prescription compatibility, and see the interface in use.
- Book through Apple’s Vision Pro page.
- Bring your prescription details or know the date and issuer of your current prescription.
- If using an iPhone or iPad for scanning, update the Apple Store app first.
- Answer vision questions accurately and confirm the selected Light Seal before payment.
- Ask about pickup, delivery, setup, and return procedures for your country.
Online order versus Apple Store purchase
| Online | Apple Store |
|---|---|
| Convenient delivery or pickup selection | Try the headset before buying |
| Face ID iPhone or iPad may be needed for the scan | Specialist can perform fitting and explain inserts |
| Best after you already know your fit | Best for first-time users, glasses wearers, and uncertain fits |
| Easy to review configurations at home | Guided setup and demo support are available |
What comes in the box?
The original 2024 package listed the headset, Solo Knit Band, Dual Loop Band, personalized Light Seal, two Light Seal Cushions, Cover, polishing cloth, battery, USB-C charge cable, and USB-C power adapter. That list describes the launch configuration, not automatically the current M5 package. Apple’s 2025 M5 announcement identifies the updated Dual Knit Band configuration, so check the current product page for the exact contents shipped with your order.
Availability outside the United States
Apple expanded sales in stages: China mainland, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore on June 28, 2024, followed by Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom on July 12, 2024. The current M5 announcement lists Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with China mainland and Singapore handled separately in its rollout. Use your country’s Apple Store rather than assuming a listing in another region is orderable.

Importing can create practical limitations. Apple says Vision Pro is sold only in select countries and is intended for use in those markets and while traveling. App Store availability requires an Apple Account region where Vision Pro is sold; Apple Music and Apple TV purchases can also depend on account region. Apps, features, content, ZEISS prescription fulfillment, and Apple Support may vary by country. Read the regional terms on the U.S. FAQ before importing.

Treating the 2024 dates as a current pre-order
The January 19 pre-order and February 2 release refer to the 2024 U.S. launch. Select the current M5 product and use the live availability date in checkout.
Ordering without resolving prescription needs
Ordinary glasses do not fit inside Vision Pro. Determine whether you need inserts or can use suitable soft contacts before finalizing the Light Seal.

Submitting a prescription late
Upload the valid prescription within the deadline shown by Apple. If it expires or is not submitted, contact Apple or ZEISS promptly because fulfillment can be delayed.
Adding inserts after purchase
Apple warns that a later insert purchase may require a new Light Seal. Decide on correction during the original order whenever possible.
Assuming one fit works for everyone
Shared users may need different Light Seals or bands. A single person’s accessories can produce poor comfort or tracking for another user.
