Apple ranked No. 1 in Fortune’s 2026 World’s Most Admired Companies All-Stars ranking, extending its run at the top to 19 consecutive years. Microsoft ranked second, Amazon third and Nvidia fourth. Fortune published the result on January 21, 2026.
The result measures corporate reputation among business leaders—not stock returns, consumer satisfaction or a definitive judgment about which company leads technology.
What Apple actually won
Apple took the No. 1 position in Fortune’s overall All-Stars ranking, formally titled the World’s Most Admired Companies. Fortune describes the list as a survey-based measure of corporate reputation. It is not a league table of the world’s most valuable companies, best-performing shares, most popular products or most innovative businesses by independently audited standards.
Apple also ranked No. 1 in Fortune’s Computers industry category. Those are separate results: the All-Stars position compares companies across industries, while the industry table compares Apple with computer companies.

Why the 19-year streak matters
The 2026 edition is Fortune’s 28th, and Apple has finished first for 19 straight editions. Fortune says Apple was also No. 1 in Computers in 16 of the past 17 years, with one exception.
A streak of that length indicates unusually durable esteem among the business professionals surveyed. It has survived changes in Apple’s leadership, product mix, manufacturing network and the technology industry’s priorities. It does not establish that Apple leads every category today, or that its reputation will automatically persist if business results or strategic perceptions change.

AI is the backdrop—and the tension
Artificial intelligence shaped the 2026 ranking. Nvidia, a central supplier of AI computing infrastructure, remained No. 4. AMD entered the All-Stars at No. 48, and Workday tied at No. 49. Fortune connected the prominence of these companies with the AI boom.
Apple’s continued No. 1 position is notable because observers have questioned whether it has moved as quickly or as visibly in AI as some rivals. Fortune’s explanation emphasizes a broader reputation: respondents continued to value Apple’s management of talent, capital, supply chains and innovation. The survey does not prove that Apple has solved its AI challenges or that its AI strategy is superior. It shows that concerns about AI have not displaced the company’s overall standing with this respondent group.

How Fortune and Korn Ferry built the ranking
From a broad company pool to the survey universe
Fortune and Korn Ferry began with approximately 1,500 potential companies. The pool included the 1,000 largest U.S. companies by revenue and non-U.S. companies in Fortune’s Global 500 database with at least $10 billion in revenue.
They narrowed that group to the highest-revenue companies in each industry, creating a survey universe of 685 companies across 29 countries and 51 industries. The revenue-based design favors large, established corporations rather than smaller private firms or emerging companies.

Industry evaluations
Executives, directors and securities analysts rated companies in their own industries on nine criteria, including investment value, management quality, product and service quality, innovation, social responsibility and ability to attract talent. A company had to rank in the top half of its industry survey to appear in the published industry rankings.

The All-Stars vote
For the overall top-50 list, approximately 3,000 executives, directors and securities analysts selected the 10 companies they admired most from the eligible pool. Participants could choose companies from any industry. The first 50 receive numerical positions; other companies appear as industry-ranked or honorable-mention entries rather than an overall rank.
Fortune did not publish results for categories including Food and Drug Stores, Food Services, General Merchandisers, Mining-Crude Oil Production, Motor Vehicles, and Network and Communications Equipment because response rates were insufficient. Consequently, the published industry tables do not represent equally complete coverage of every category.

What it supports
- Apple retains exceptional esteem among senior business respondents.
- The company’s perceived strengths extend beyond launching new products, including management and operational execution.
- Its reputation has remained resilient while AI has become the technology sector’s dominant narrative.
- The top three were unchanged from 2025, indicating continuity among the largest technology platforms.
What it does not establish
- It does not predict Apple’s revenue, earnings, valuation, share-price performance or future investment returns.
- It is not a direct survey of ordinary consumers, employees, developers or regulators.
- It does not prove Apple is winning the AI race, is the best employer or is the most ethical or innovative company overall.
- It does not remove Apple’s strategic vulnerabilities or guarantee that its reputation will endure.
For personal-finance readers, the practical implication is to treat the award as context about stakeholder perception—not as a buy or sell signal. Any investment decision still requires independent analysis of valuation, cash flows, competitive position, risk and time horizon.

How 2026 compares with 2025
Apple also ranked No. 1 in Fortune’s 2025 edition, its 18th consecutive win. Microsoft and Amazon again held the next two places, while Nvidia was fourth. The year-over-year stability matters: the 2026 result confirms an established hierarchy even as AI-focused companies gained visibility elsewhere in the top 50. Fortune’s prior-year table is available at the 2025 ranking page.
Bottom line for readers
Apple’s 19-year run is strong evidence of durable corporate reputation among the executives, directors and analysts who participate in Fortune’s survey. It is not proof that Apple currently leads every technological, financial or social measure. The most accurate reading is narrower: despite criticism of its AI progress, Apple remains the company this business audience admires most when management, products, innovation, talent and other reputation factors are considered together.
