Payments from Apple’s $95 million Siri privacy settlement began on January 23, 2026—not August 18, 2026. The money went to approved claimants in Lopez v. Apple; it was not a $95 payment for every Siri user or every device.

Why “Lopez Voice Assistant” may appear in your account

Settlement payments were sent by direct deposit, mailed check and digital check. Bank transactions may show “Lopez Voice Assistant” or “Lopez Voice Asst—Payouts.” Those names match reported payments for this lawsuit, rather than an Apple subscription or ordinary charge. Because scammers can imitate legitimate payer names, verify any payment through the official administrator at lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com instead of trusting an unsolicited text, email or call.

The administrator says distribution commenced January 23, 2026. Reports described deposits and payment notices arriving around January 24–26.

What the Siri lawsuit alleged

Lopez v. Apple alleged that Siri sometimes activated without a user deliberately invoking it and captured private or confidential conversations. The complaint further alleged that some recordings were shared with third parties, including businesses that could use information for targeted advertising. These were allegations, not findings that Apple intentionally listened to every claimant.

Apple denied wrongdoing and said the settlement was not an admission of liability. The settlement resolves covered claims without establishing that Apple unlawfully recorded any particular person.

Who qualified for the settlement?

The class covered people in the United States and its territories who owned or purchased a Siri-enabled Apple device and experienced an unintended activation during a conversation they considered private or confidential. The covered period ran from September 17, 2014, through December 31, 2024.

  • Only compatible with Apple AirPods Pro (1st Generation)
  • Eligible devices: iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch and Apple TV.
  • Required circumstance: Siri had to activate unintentionally during a private or confidential conversation; merely owning an Apple device or having Siri enabled was not enough.
  • Claim limit: A claimant could submit claims for up to five devices.
  • Geography: The settlement applied to the United States and its territories.

The claims deadline was July 2, 2025. The settlement FAQ says a person had to submit a valid claim that was accepted; simply remaining in the class did not guarantee payment.

How much did claimants receive?

The $95 million figure is the gross settlement fund. Administration costs, notice expenses, attorneys’ fees, other court-approved expenses and service awards were deducted before distribution. Individual payments also depended on the number of valid claims and the allocation formula.

Approximately $40.10 Reported maximum for a five-device claim.

CBS reported deposits of roughly $8 to $40, while 9to5Mac reported an average of about $8.02 per device and a maximum near $40.10. Those figures should be treated as reported outcomes rather than a promise that every claimant received the same amount.

Can you still submit a claim?

Generally, no. The July 2, 2025 deadline has passed. Be cautious of anyone now offering to “reopen” the settlement, file a late claim or recover money for an upfront fee. Do not pay a filing or release fee, buy gift cards, or provide passwords, Apple Account credentials, Social Security numbers or complete banking credentials to an unsolicited contact.

What to do if your payment is missing

  1. Search your email, including spam and junk folders, for “Lopez Voice Assistant” and settlement notices.
  2. Check which method you selected: ACH direct deposit, mailed check or digital check.
  3. Confirm that the email address, bank account and mailing address used on the claim are still active.
  4. Type lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com into your browser yourself; do not use a link in an unexpected message.
  5. Use the administrator’s official contact channel to ask about a missing, rejected, expired or returned payment. The site says digital-check recipients who did not receive an email within a week should contact the administrator for investigation or reissue.

There is no universal reissue deadline established on the publicly available pages, so ask the administrator about the status of your individual payment.

Do not confuse this settlement with the separate Apple Intelligence case

A different 2026 proceeding concerns alleged delays or missing advertised Apple Intelligence features on certain iPhone models. It is not the Siri privacy-recording case and has a proposed $250 million fund.
