At checkout, verify the listing says AirTag 2, is new, and shows the expected “Sold by” and “Ships from” information. Check delivery, returns and any coupon requirement rather than relying only on a crossed-out list price. Amazon also describes price-history features for evaluating changes over time.

Apple’s current purchase page lists the four-pack at $99 and a single AirTag at $29: Apple AirTag four-pack. The $89 deal is a worthwhile reduction if you need several trackers, but it is not a reason to buy four when you have only one item to locate.

Make sure it is the second-generation AirTag
The deal covered Apple’s second-generation AirTag, launched in 2026. Coverage reports a speaker approximately 50% louder and Precision Finding range approximately 50% greater, enabled by a second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. Those are Apple claims or reported specifications, not a guarantee of a uniform 50% improvement in every building, street or bag. Do not compare the $89 AirTag 2 price with clearance prices for the first-generation AirTag. First-generation four-packs have been reported at $64, $59 and other lower promotional prices, but those are different models: MacRumors, MacRumors’ earlier report and Tom’s Guide.

What AirTag does—and what it does not do
AirTag uses Apple’s Find My network to help locate misplaced belongings such as keys, luggage, wallets and backpacks. Precision Finding can guide a compatible Apple device toward a nearby tag.
- It is not a standalone GPS tracker and does not provide continuous independent location updates.
- It relies on nearby Apple devices and the Find My network when the tag is away from your phone.
- It is designed primarily for belongings, not for monitoring people or obtaining continuous live coordinates.
Compatibility requirements and ecosystem limits
Apple’s purchase page states that setup requires an Apple Account and an iPhone running iOS 26.0 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 26.0 or later. Operating-system requirements can change, so check Apple’s current support information before setup: Apple’s product page.

Android users may encounter limited NFC information or unwanted-tracker alerts, but the ownership and setup experience is built around Apple devices. Choose a cross-platform tracker if your household is Android-first or mixed-device and Apple’s Find My integration is not useful.

The basic package contains four bare AirTags. It does not include a key ring, luggage loop, adhesive mount or protective holder. Apple sells accessories separately, including the AirTag accessories range, FineWoven Key Ring and AirTag Loop. Generic holders cost less but vary in fit, durability and security. Budget for an attachment method for every item you plan to tag.

AirTag batteries are user-replaceable coin cells. Avoid relying on a precise battery-life figure without checking Apple’s latest support documentation.
Who should buy the four-pack?
It makes sense when
- You already use an iPhone or compatible iPad and Find My.
- You need tags for several sets of keys, bags, luggage or wallets.
- A family will assign one tag to each person’s bag.
- You want a spare for a frequently misplaced or high-value item.
- The live price is $89, or close enough that you value the convenience of buying four at once.
Buy one instead when
- You have only one use case or are testing whether Find My suits you.
- A discounted single AirTag costs less overall than an unused four-pack.
- You do not want to buy separate holders for multiple items.
Choose another category when
- You use Android as your primary phone.
- You need continuous or periodic GPS tracking for a vehicle, pet or person where permitted.
- You require a built-in attachment point or a different network and app experience.
Prime membership and the $10 question
Prime Day member pricing required Amazon Prime. Amazon lists U.S. Prime at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, with a free trial for eligible customers; Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access have separate eligibility rules. Source: Amazon.
Do not buy an annual Prime membership solely to save $10 on this pack. It may be worthwhile if you already use Prime shipping, video, music, grocery or other benefits. A later Amazon listing may not require Prime, so check the live offer.
