Apollo-managed funds completed their acquisition of a majority interest in Stream Data Centers on November 3, 2025. Principal Asset Management took a minority interest, while Stream’s management retained a minority stake and continued to lead the company. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Did Apollo buy Stream Data Centers?

Yes. Apollo-managed funds agreed to acquire a majority interest in Stream on August 6, 2025, and the transaction closed on November 3, 2025. It was a majority investment, not a purchase of the entire company: Principal Asset Management and Stream management also hold minority interests.

Who owns Stream Data Centers now?

  • Apollo-managed funds: majority owner.
  • Principal Asset Management: minority investor.
  • Stream management: minority owner; the team continued to lead the company.

How large is Stream’s data-center platform?

Stream develops, leases, manages and operates hyperscale and enterprise data-center campuses in the United States. At the time of the announcement, Stream said it had delivered more than 20 campuses and controlled over 4 gigawatts of long-term powered land. After the deal closed, Apollo described Stream’s hyperscale development pipeline as 4+ GW.

Those figures describe different measures: powered land and a development pipeline. They should not be added together or treated as equivalent to operating capacity. The announcement does not state how much of the pipeline is already built or in service.

Where is near-term expansion planned?

Apollo and Stream said they planned to commit new capital to Stream’s existing land fund to accelerate 650 MW of near-term power capacity across campuses in metro Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas. The 650 MW is a targeted expansion across those markets, not a claim that all of that capacity was already operating when the investment closed.

Why did Apollo invest?

Apollo cited rising demand for computing and artificial-intelligence workloads as a driver of investment in data-center infrastructure. Its announcement connected that demand to the need for more power, facilities and semiconductor chips, and estimated that global data-center infrastructure would require several trillion dollars of investment over the next decade. That is Apollo’s estimate, not a disclosed commitment by Apollo to spend that amount on Stream.
