Yes—Anthropic now includes Claude Code access in current Team and Enterprise subscriptions. That does not mean unlimited coding. Team usage depends on the seat type, while current Enterprise plans charge Claude Code consumption separately at standard API rates. Legacy Enterprise customers can still have different seat categories and billing rules.
The practical question is therefore not simply whether Claude Code is “included,” but which plan generation and seat your organization has, what usage allowance or rate applies, and which controls administrators can enforce.
What Anthropic changed
Anthropic’s business offering evolved in several steps rather than through one universal switch:
- February 24, 2025: Claude Code launched as a research preview, with a terminal-oriented agent that could inspect repositories, edit files, run tests and use command-line tools. Anthropic’s launch announcement also described GitHub interactions such as committing and pushing changes.
- August 20, 2025: Team and Enterprise administrators could assign premium seats that included Claude Code access, additional usage and administrative controls. The business-plan announcement described spend controls, analytics and managed policies.
- January 28, 2026: Anthropic said Claude Code was included with every Team seat, although standard and premium seats retained different usage capacities. The Team update documents that expansion.
- February 12, 2026: Anthropic made Enterprise available for self-serve purchase, combining Claude, Claude Code and Cowork in the organizational platform. The self-serve announcement describes that model.
Newer Enterprise documentation now describes a single Enterprise seat. Older organizations may still be on the earlier seat system.

What each plan actually includes

Anthropic’s Team and Enterprise guidance is the authoritative place to confirm current entitlements. The commercial pages have displayed changing plan presentations, so verify live terms at Anthropic’s pricing page before signing an order.
Team seats
Every current Team seat can use Claude Code. Standard seats are intended for ordinary usage; premium seats provide more capacity for developers who run large repositories, frequent refactors or repeated test cycles. If included capacity is exhausted, an administrator can enable additional usage at standard API rates, subject to organizational controls.
Enterprise seats
The current Enterprise seat covers access to Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, Claude Code and Cowork. The seat fee is separate from consumption. A large engineering organization can therefore have a substantial variable bill even when every developer already has a paid seat.

Legacy Enterprise seats
Older customers may see Chat, Chat + Claude Code, Standard or Premium seats. Anthropic says Chat + Claude Code seats can use usage-based billing, while Premium seats may follow seat-based billing. At renewal, an older arrangement may move to the newer single-seat model, but migration timing is not identical for every organization. Check seat-management documentation or ask your Anthropic account manager.

What “included” means for the budget
For current Enterprise, budget the purchase as two components:
- Seat fee: access to the Claude platform and its enterprise administration.
- Usage charges: token consumption for Claude, Claude Code and Cowork at standard API rates.
There is no unlimited coding allowance attached to the current Enterprise seat. Administrators can set organization and individual-user spend limits, but a cap protects the budget by stopping or restricting work when reached. It does not convert consumption into a fixed-price benefit. Anthropic explains the mechanics in its Enterprise billing guidance.

Anthropic’s billing documentation says US-only inference can apply a 1.1× multiplier to certain current models, including Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 and later models. Model availability and rates change, so confirm the applicable multiplier and prices in the billing documentation when approving a purchase.
Team is different: the seat includes an allowance, with premium seats offering more capacity, and extra usage available at API rates when enabled. Do not compare a Team allowance directly with a legacy Premium Enterprise seat or with current Enterprise consumption without normalizing the billing model.

- Search and read a repository.
- Plan and make multi-file edits.
- Run tests, builds and other command-line tools.
- Iterate after seeing errors.
- Prepare commits and interact with GitHub workflows.
Current business users can work from a terminal, VS Code and supported VS Code forks, or JetBrains IDEs such as IntelliJ and PyCharm. Claude chat remains the conversational and document-oriented interface; Cowork targets broader cross-functional automation. Claude Code on the web is a separate research-preview experience for eligible Team and Enterprise users with premium seats, as described in Anthropic’s announcement.
Enterprise security and administration
Current Enterprise documentation lists controls including:
- Single sign-on, domain capture and SCIM provisioning.
- Role-based permissions and audit logs.
- Custom data-retention controls and compliance and analytics APIs.
- Customer-managed encryption keys.
- US-only inference options.
- Organization and individual spend limits.
- HIPAA-ready configuration for eligible organizations.
Anthropic says Enterprise content is not used to train its models by default. That qualification matters: review retention, contractual terms, connected services and administrator settings rather than treating it as a blanket “never processed” promise.

Claude Code also requires an agent-specific security review. Establish policies for shell commands, file-system scope, environment variables and secrets, MCP servers, GitHub tokens, package installation and destructive actions. Require human approval for commits, pushes, deployments and other irreversible changes. The original business-plan announcement describes managed controls for tool permissions, file access and MCP configurations.

Anthropic lists these Enterprise routes on its Claude Code Enterprise page:
- Anthropic Cloud.
- Amazon Bedrock.
- Google Cloud Vertex AI.
- Microsoft Foundry.
It also advertises VPC isolation and private endpoints for security-sensitive deployments. A cloud-provider route is not automatically the same commercial product as buying Enterprise directly from Anthropic. Before selecting one, confirm who invoices usage, which party supplies support, where data is processed, what regions and models are available, how logs are retained, and whether Claude Code administration has feature parity with the Anthropic-hosted service.
How to choose between Team, Enterprise and a dedicated coding tool
Team is usually the better fit when
- The organization is small or growing and wants self-serve administration.
- Developers and non-developers need one shared Claude workspace.
- Included Team capacity covers normal development, with occasional extra usage.
Enterprise is usually the better fit when
- SSO, SCIM, auditability, retention, encryption or compliance controls are mandatory.
- Several departments will use Claude, Claude Code and Cowork.
- The organization needs centralized spend limits, analytics and supported cloud deployment options.
- Procurement can manage variable consumption and wants organization-wide support.
A dedicated coding assistant may be better when
- The requirement is mainly IDE autocomplete and pull-request assistance, not a terminal agent.
- GitHub is the center of identity, repositories and delivery workflows.
- Predictable per-developer pricing matters more than access to a broader Claude platform.
- Only a small engineering group needs coding help.
How it compares with common alternatives

If Claude Code is missing or stops working
Enterprise subscription, but no Claude Code
- Open Organization settings → Organization and identify the seat type.
- Determine whether the workspace uses the current single Enterprise seat or legacy seats.
- Ask an administrator to verify provisioning, policy restrictions and the user’s workspace.
- Check organization and individual spend limits.
- Confirm that the user is signing in with the organization account, not a personal Claude subscription, and that the IDE or terminal is supported.
- Contact Anthropic support or the account manager if the organization recently migrated.
“Included” usage is exhausted
For Team, an administrator may need to enable additional usage or raise a limit. For current Enterprise, usage is already separately billed, but a spend cap can still block requests until it is changed.

Buyer checklist
- Record whether the account is Team, current Enterprise or legacy Enterprise.
- List each seat type and its allowance or billing method.
- Model ordinary and peak-month coding consumption separately from seat fees.
- Set spend caps that protect the budget without halting critical work unexpectedly.
- Review shell, file, secret, MCP and repository permissions before rollout.
- Choose Anthropic Cloud, Bedrock, Vertex AI or Foundry only after checking billing, residency, support and feature parity.
- Date-stamp commercial assumptions because plan names, minimum seats, model pricing and allowances change.
