For U.S. accounts, American Express Membership Rewards can transfer directly to Aeromexico Rewards at 1,000:1,600. Chase Ultimate Rewards does not list Aeromexico Rewards as a direct transfer partner, though Chase points may offer an indirect booking route through partners such as Flying Blue or Aeroplan if they have award space for your flight. The ratio alone does not show which option costs less: compare the same itinerary’s points price, cash charges, and availability before transferring.

How the transfer options differ

Program Direct transfer to Aeromexico Rewards Possible indirect route What this establishes
American Express Membership Rewards (U.S.) Yes. 1,000 Membership Rewards points convert to 1,600 Aeromexico Rewards points, according to the American Express transfer-partner page. Not needed for a direct transfer. A transfer ratio, not a quote for any flight or evidence that a seat is available.
Chase Ultimate Rewards No. Aeromexico Rewards is not on Chase’s cited transfer-partner list. Chase lists Air France-KLM Flying Blue and Air Canada Aeroplan. Either might be worth checking for an Aeromexico-operated flight if the program offers award inventory for it. Partner listings establish possible routes to investigate, not bookable seats on a specific flight.

These findings concern the U.S. versions of the programs, based on issuer information accessed October 3, 2026. Transfer partners and ratios can vary by market, card, and account, so check the current terms and partner list for your own account.

How to decide which points to use

1. Search the exact flight through each usable program

Choose your route, travel date, cabin, and passengers, then look for the Aeromexico-operated flight in Aeromexico Rewards and, if considering Chase, in Flying Blue or Aeroplan. A flight operated by Aeromexico is not necessarily offered for booking by every partner program. Award inventory and prices can differ between programs, and no specific flight, date, or award availability has been verified here.

2. Compare the full cost, not the number of points transferred

For each bookable option, compare the points required and the cash charges for the same itinerary. Amex’s 1,000-to-1,600 conversion changes the number of points in a different program’s currency; it does not establish that the award is cheaper or that Amex points have greater redemption value. The cited issuer pages do not provide comparable award prices or fees for a particular itinerary.

3. Check eligibility and account details

Chase identifies Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, and Ink Business Preferred as cards that enable partner transfers. Confirm that your card and account qualify and inspect the live partner list while logged in; access and current terms control. Chase says the name on your Chase account must match the name on the partner loyalty account. For Amex, link the partner account and follow the partner-program requirements before initiating a transfer.

4. Transfer only after confirming award space

Confirm that the intended program can book the exact flight and that the points price and cash charges work for you. Then verify account names and details before transferring. Award availability can change while a transfer is in progress, leaving you with points in a program that cannot book the flight you wanted.

Transfer timing and reversibility

Chase says transfers are made in increments of 1,000 points; most process by the next business day, but some may take up to seven business days. Chase describes partner transfers as final and recommends confirming award availability before transferring. American Express likewise says transferred points cannot be converted back into Membership Rewards points. The receiving loyalty program’s terms apply after transfer. Which program should you use?

  • Consider Amex for a direct route if you have an eligible U.S. Membership Rewards account and Aeromexico Rewards has the award you want at an acceptable points price and cash cost.
  • Consider Chase indirectly if you hold an eligible Chase card and Flying Blue or Aeroplan can book the exact Aeromexico-operated flight on terms that compare favorably.
  • Do not choose based on the transfer ratio alone. Different loyalty currencies, award prices, cash charges, and availability make the raw point totals incomparable.

Neither a transfer-partner listing nor a published ratio guarantees award space, a particular price, a specific transfer time, or savings on a route. Check the live partner list and the exact flight before moving points.
