AMD’s latest results show strong demand for Instinct MI350 GPUs, but do not disclose standalone Instinct sales or establish that sales beat expectations. AMD reported $6.7 billion in Data Center revenue for the quarter ended June 27, 2026, up 107% year over year, attributing the increase primarily to demand for both EPYC processors and Instinct MI350 Series GPUs. Microsoft, meanwhile, announced plans to deploy AMD Helios systems at scale on Azure; it has not reported how much of its current consumption runs on AMD chips.
What AMD reported about Instinct demand
AMD reported $11.5 billion in total revenue for Q2 2026. Its SEC-filed results show Data Center revenue of $6.7 billion for the three months ended June 27, 2026, up 107% year over year, and $12.5 billion for the six months ended that date, up 81%. AMD attributed the Data Center increase primarily to strong demand for EPYC processors and Instinct MI350 Series GPUs. AMD’s Q2 2026 release and its SEC filing do not break out Instinct revenue separately or compare Instinct sales with a named forecast.
That distinction matters: the reported figures establish strong growth in the broader Data Center business, not the amount of GPU revenue within it. They support a claim of strong Instinct demand, but not the stronger headline assertion that Instinct chip sales exceeded expectations.
What Microsoft said about Azure consumption
Microsoft reported 40% growth in Azure and other cloud services revenue in FY26 Q3. On its earnings call, the company said capacity delivered earlier in the quarter enabled increased consumption across AI and non-AI services, while demand continued to exceed available capacity. These are Azure-wide figures and observations; Microsoft did not attribute them to AMD hardware or quantify consumption on Instinct GPUs. See Microsoft’s FY26 Q3 results and earnings call.

What the AMD–Microsoft partnership announcement means
In July 2026, AMD and Microsoft announced an expanded partnership. Microsoft plans to deploy AMD Helios rack-scale systems at scale on Azure for frontier-model inference. AMD describes Helios as combining Instinct MI455X GPUs, EPYC “Venice” CPUs, Pensando networking, and ROCm software. The announcement describes a planned deployment, not completed rollout or measured usage. It gives no sales amount and does not establish that the planned capacity is already live or consumed. Details appear in the AMD–Microsoft announcement.

| Evidence | What it establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| AMD Data Center revenue: $6.7 billion in Q2 2026, up 107% year over year | Strong growth in AMD’s Data Center business, which AMD says was driven primarily by EPYC and Instinct MI350 demand. | Standalone Instinct sales or whether those sales beat a specific forecast. |
| Microsoft Azure and other cloud services revenue growth: 40% in FY26 Q3 | Growth across Azure and other cloud services, alongside Microsoft’s statement that demand exceeded available capacity. | AMD-specific Azure revenue, GPU usage, or consumption volume. |
| Planned Helios deployment on Azure | Microsoft intends to deploy AMD rack-scale systems at scale for frontier-model inference. | Completed deployment, realized consumption, or the revenue attributable to AMD. |
These facts concern different measures and stages: reported revenue is not a chip-by-chip sales breakout; cloud-wide consumption is not an AMD hardware usage figure; and a deployment plan is not proof of live utilization. AMD chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su said in the Q2 release, “We delivered an excellent quarter, with record revenue and profitability as Data Center revenue more than doubled year-over-year.”
