Yes—but not to a delivered order. Amazon’s Add to Delivery feature lets eligible U.S. Prime members attach a forgotten item to an upcoming delivery from the Amazon Shopping app or Amazon.com on a mobile device. Amazon says the add-on has no additional shipping fee. It does not reopen a package that has already arrived or a delivery that is no longer eligible for changes.
What Amazon actually launched
Amazon announced Add to Delivery on October 2, 2025. It is a shortcut for customers who finish placing an order and then remember something else—such as pantry goods, pet supplies, a book, clothing or an electronic accessory. Instead of starting a separate checkout, an eligible product can be attached to a delivery that is still scheduled to arrive later that day or the next day.

The wording matters. “Add an item after placing an order” is accurate; “edit a completed order” is potentially misleading. Amazon describes the destination as an upcoming delivery, not an order that has already been delivered or closed. Amazon’s announcement does not promise that every add-on travels in the same parcel or arrives at exactly the same time.
Who can use Add to Delivery?
| Requirement | What Amazon has announced |
|---|---|
| Membership | U.S. Prime membership is required for the U.S. rollout. |
| Device | The Amazon Shopping app or Amazon.com on a mobile device; desktop availability is not promised. |
| Product | The item must be eligible. Eligibility is determined product by product. |
| Existing delivery | There must be an upcoming delivery that Amazon can still modify, generally one arriving later that day or the next day. |
These conditions mean a Prime subscription alone does not guarantee the button for every product or every order. Amazon has not announced unlimited additions, universal marketplace eligibility or the ability to append items after a package is out for delivery.

#1 Best Overall
- Amazon.com Gift Cards never expire and carry no fees.
- Multiple gift card designs and denominations to choose from.
- Redeemable towards millions of items store-wide at Amazon.com or certain affiliated websites.
- Available for immediate delivery. Gift cards sent by email can be scheduled up to a year in advance.
- No returns and no refunds on Gift Cards.
How to add a forgotten item
- Open the Amazon Shopping app, or visit Amazon.com in a mobile browser.
- Sign in to the U.S. Prime account associated with the upcoming delivery.
- Open the product page for the item you forgot.
- Look for the blue Add to Delivery button. In some situations the label may be more specific, such as Add to today’s delivery; the wording can depend on the delivery window and interface version.
- Read the displayed delivery date or grouping and confirm it is the delivery you want.
- Tap Add to Delivery.
- Watch for the confirmation state and the immediate Undo option if you change your mind.
- Open Your Orders or the relevant order details to verify that the add-on was accepted.
This is a purchase action, not merely a cart change. You still pay the item’s listed price, taxes and any applicable charges. Amazon’s promise is that the add-on has no additional shipping fee—not that the merchandise is free.
What happens after you tap?
Amazon associates the item with the eligible upcoming delivery. The order record may show a separate line item or order-detail entry even when Amazon intends it to travel with the existing delivery. Check the order record for the destination, delivery date, price and status rather than assuming that every item will be packed together.

In the U.S. announcement, Amazon specifically provides an immediate Undo control. Normal cancellation options can depend on the add-on’s status, so check Your Orders if the Undo prompt has disappeared. Amazon Canada’s July 2026 announcement describes additional cancellation steps for Canadian customers, but that language should not be treated as a confirmed U.S.-specific policy.
Why the button may not appear
- You are not signed in to an eligible U.S. Prime account.
- You are using a desktop browser rather than the app or mobile site.
- The product is not eligible for Add to Delivery.
- Amazon cannot match the item to the delivery address, fulfillment network or available delivery window.
- The existing delivery is too far along in preparation or shipment.
- There is no suitable upcoming delivery.
- The account, location or order configuration is not supported at that moment.
- The app or product page has not refreshed its current delivery information.
Try the mobile app, confirm the membership and delivery address, refresh the product page and test another item that appears likely to qualify. If the control remains absent, place a normal order; do not assume that repeatedly refreshing will make an ineligible item qualify.

Before-you-tap checklist
- Delivery: Is the shown date acceptable, or would a separate order arrive sooner?
- Price: Have you reviewed the item price, tax and any other charge?
- Destination: Is the displayed address correct, especially on a shared account?
- Quantity: Are you buying the intended size, color and quantity?
- Recovery: Do you know where to find Undo or the order record if you change your mind?
What the feature does not do
- It does not add an item to a package that has already been delivered.
- It is not a general-purpose editor for every finalized Amazon order.
- It does not guarantee one parcel, one carrier scan or an identical arrival time.
- It does not apply to every product, seller, address or fulfillment path.
- It does not promise unlimited additions or changes after the delivery is too far along.
- It is not the same as adding products to a normal shopping cart.
When Add to Delivery is useful—and when it is not
Good use cases
- A forgotten, non-urgent household item for a delivery arriving today or tomorrow.
- A small addition that would otherwise create another shipment.
- Shoppers who add necessities incrementally and want fewer separate deliveries.
Reasons to choose another method
- Use a separate order when the item is urgent or the existing delivery date is unsuitable.
- Use the normal cart when you need to compare products, review quantities, apply promotions or wait before buying.
- Use Amazon Day, where offered, when your priority is selecting a recurring or chosen consolidation day. Amazon Day is a separate delivery preference, not Add to Delivery. TechCrunch’s report also distinguishes it from the one-tap add-on feature.
- Select a slower delivery option when checkout offers one and its date works for you. Any digital reward or incentive varies by order and should be judged from the live checkout screen.
Availability, geography and Prime cost
The original announcement covers U.S. Prime members and is dated October 2, 2025. Amazon later announced a similar Canadian rollout on July 13, 2026, so the feature should not be described as a single worldwide launch. Eligibility remains country-, account-, product- and delivery-dependent.
Amazon’s U.S. announcement stated Prime pricing of $14.99 per month or $139 per year, with a 30-day trial for eligible customers. Those figures were stated at launch and may change; check the current Amazon Prime signup page before relying on them. Add to Delivery by itself is unlikely to justify a subscription for an occasional Amazon shopper; consider how often you use Prime’s other benefits as well.
Rank #4
- Gift Card is redeemable towards millions of items storewide at Amazon.com
- Gift Card has no fees and no expiration date
- Gift Card is nested inside a specialty gift box
- Free One-Day Shipping (where available)
- Scan and redeem any Gift Card with a mobile or tablet device via the Amazon App
Bottom line for a “completed order”
Amazon has made it easier to fix a forgotten-item mistake after checkout, but the precise rule is narrower than the headline suggests: Add to Delivery attaches eligible products to an upcoming, still-changeable delivery for eligible U.S. Prime members using mobile Amazon. Once the package has arrived—or Amazon can no longer modify the delivery—you need a separate order.
