The saving applied to the entry-level 13-inch configuration only. It did not establish a matching price for 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, cellular or nano-texture versions. Apple’s May 2024 announcement set the 256GB Wi‑Fi model’s original U.S. price at $1,299 and announced availability beginning May 15, 2024.
What you get with the 13-inch M4 iPad Pro
OLED display and large workspace
The 13-inch Ultra Retina XDR OLED display is the main reason to choose this model over less expensive iPads. It offers deep blacks, high contrast and a 2752 × 2064 resolution, while ProMotion adapts refresh rates up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling and animation. The larger canvas suits illustration, video, reading and split-screen work, but it is less comfortable to hold one-handed than an 11-inch iPad.

M4 performance
The M4 chip is designed for demanding creative and professional workloads such as video editing, illustration, music production, 3D work and intensive multitasking. Apple does not give every capacity identical specifications: the 256GB and 512GB versions use a 9-core CPU, while 1TB and 2TB versions use a 10-core CPU and additional memory. Do not assume that a top-capacity configuration’s specifications apply to the discounted 256GB model.
Thin, portable hardware and accessories
Apple’s specifications list USB‑C/Thunderbolt connectivity, Wi‑Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, a landscape-oriented 12MP Center Stage front camera and support for both Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB‑C). The tablet price is only the starting point. A Pencil Pro, Magic Keyboard, protective case, AppleCare+, additional storage or cellular connectivity can materially increase the total.
