In April 2026, Amazon First Reads reportedly let Prime members choose two Kindle e-books: the bonus short read Lift Me Up by Milly Johnson, plus one book from a selection of nine. The monthly offer has expired, so check a title’s current Amazon listing and price before assuming it is still free.
How the April 2026 First Reads offer worked
Amazon First Reads is a monthly benefit for Prime members. Amazon’s corporate description says it provides “free, early access to a newly released book every month from a curated selection of picks.” That general description does not establish the details of April’s offer; contemporary coverage reported that members could take the bonus short read Lift Me Up and choose one additional title from nine options.
This was a First Reads promotion, not evidence that the books were included in Prime Reading’s rotating catalog. The reported April offer used a free selection route on the First Reads and book pages at the time, but its terms should not be treated as current.
The nine books members could choose from
The April selection included fiction across several genres, as well as a children’s picture book. The list below reflects the titles reported for that month; it is not a ranking or a claim about current availability.

The bonus short read
Lift Me Up by Milly Johnson was reported as the bonus short read available alongside one of the nine choices. The reported two-book arrangement was specific to April 2026; it should not be assumed to apply to other months.

April 2026 has passed. The contemporary reports describe that month’s offer, not today’s prices or availability. Visit the current Amazon listing for a book and confirm its price and purchase or reading options before acting on an old “free” offer. A title’s appearance in the April First Reads selection also does not establish that it is currently free or available through Prime Reading.
