SentinelOne named Alex Stamos its chief information security officer (CISO) on August 1, 2024. The appointment gave him responsibility for security engineering and operations, with a focus on building secure-by-design systems for enterprise customers. It is a historical appointment: Axios reported on September 29, 2026, that Stamos had joined Cognition as chief security officer.
When SentinelOne named Alex Stamos CISO
SentinelOne announced the appointment on August 1, 2024. The company said Stamos would oversee security engineering and operations and work on delivering secure-by-design systems for enterprise customers. SentinelOne’s announcement described the role as part of its security-first approach.
What a CISO does in this role
A chief information security officer leads an organization’s information-security work. In SentinelOne’s description of Stamos’s remit, that meant overseeing security engineering and operations—not simply serving as a public adviser. The company connected that internal security responsibility with designing systems intended to be secure for enterprise customers.
Why SentinelOne said the appointment mattered
SentinelOne framed the hire around the risks faced by major cloud and security providers. Chief Product and Technology Officer Ric Smith said, “In an era where state actors are targeting large cloud and security providers to gain access to the world’s most important companies, security cannot be an afterthought. It has to come first.”

Stamos emphasized customer trust and accountability. He said organizations need to trust that providers are “focused on chasing adversaries, not dollars,” and said he wanted SentinelOne to set a standard rooted in “trust, transparency and accountability.” Those statements set out the company’s stated rationale; they are not, by themselves, evidence of a measurable change in SentinelOne’s security performance.
Who Alex Stamos is
SentinelOne described Stamos as a former chief security officer at Meta and chief information security officer at Yahoo. He joined SentinelOne through its 2023 acquisition of the Krebs Stamos Group and was associated with the company’s PinnacleOne strategic advisory group as Chief Trust Officer. SentinelOne announced PinnacleOne on November 9, 2023, describing it as a strategic advisory group: PinnacleOne launch announcement.
Is Alex Stamos still SentinelOne’s CISO?
No current-status claim should treat the 2024 appointment as his present role. Axios reported on August 5, 2025, that Stamos became Corridor’s chief security officer while remaining a strategic adviser to SentinelOne. Axios’s 2025 report distinguishes that advisory connection from an operating CISO role.
On September 29, 2026, Axios reported that Stamos joined Cognition as chief security officer and characterized SentinelOne and Corridor as his most recent security leadership roles. Axios’s Cognition report. SentinelOne’s current leadership page does not list him among its executive leaders. The supported description is therefore that SentinelOne named him CISO in 2024; the available current-status reporting places his later operating roles at Corridor and Cognition.

What SentinelOne’s platform context adds
SentinelOne describes its Singularity Platform as an AI-powered cybersecurity platform spanning endpoints, cloud workloads, containers, identities, mobile and network-connected devices. That is company context for the customers and systems the security organization serves, not proof that Stamos’s appointment changed a particular product feature or security outcome.
