Airlearn says users completed more than 10 million lessons in the 30 days before September 25, 2025. That is a substantial activity claim, but it is not the same as 10 million learners, 10 million learning objectives mastered, or proof that the app retains users better than rivals. The public record points to fast early adoption and a differentiated AI-conversation strategy; it does not yet establish durable product-market fit.
What the “10 million lessons” figure actually tells us
The figure comes from Airlearn company data reported by VentureBeat: more than 10 million lessons completed during a recent 30-day period ending before September 25, 2025.
Airlearn has not publicly defined what it counts as a lesson. It is therefore unknown whether the total represents a full instructional unit, a short activity, a review exercise, or an in-app session. The public material also does not say whether the count includes free and paying users, repeated lessons, or interactions with the AI Tutor. “Completed” could mean reaching an end screen rather than demonstrating mastery.
Nor is the number identified as a United States-only or global total, a one-month peak, or part of a sustained month-over-month trend. It is evidence of reported activity, not an independently audited measure of learning.

Airlearn’s reported scale, metric by metric
| Metric | Reported figure | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| Users | More than 2 million | Company-reported reach; not a count of current active learners or subscribers. |
| Geographic reach | 150-plus countries | Airlearn’s stated distribution; it does not show equal adoption or course availability in every market. |
| Monthly active users | More than 300,000 | Founder Gaurav Munjal’s Reddit statement dated September 30, 2025; not independently measured. |
| Google Play installs | More than 500,000 | Figure reported by VentureBeat; install totals are not unique active users and can vary by store and date. |
| Apple rating | 4.8 stars | Rating reported by VentureBeat; ratings vary by country, review volume and time, and do not measure learning outcomes. |
The user, monthly-active-user, install and lesson figures describe different populations. They cannot be added together or treated as a conversion funnel. Airlearn’s homepage makes the 150-country claim at airlearn.com, while the founder’s MAU statement appears in a Reddit post.
Why the product could be attracting learners
Airlearn positions itself around short audiovisual lessons that combine explanations, vocabulary, grammar and cultural context, followed by practice. Its stated “learn first, practice next” approach is meant to emphasize understanding and conversational confidence rather than a primarily game-like loop.
That is a positioning choice, not a demonstrated cause of growth. Duolingo’s model, for example, uses gamification, streaks, leaderboards, adaptive exercises and large-scale personalization as core engagement mechanisms, as described in its public filing. Airlearn and Duolingo are therefore optimizing for different experiences, not simply “serious learning” versus “games.”
Airlearn is operated in the United States by Unacademy Inc.; its terms identify a separate Indian operator, Sorting Hat Technologies Private Limited. That connection places the app within the wider Unacademy ecosystem rather than presenting it as an entirely standalone company. See the terms for the operator and service provisions.

What the AI Tutor is supposed to do
Airlearn’s AI Tutor is described in promotional coverage as an interactive conversation feature. The company says it simulates dialogue, accepts learner input, supports speaking practice and returns immediate feedback. The launch framing appears in MarketersMedia and the VentureBeat account.
Important implementation details remain undisclosed. Public materials do not identify the underlying model, explain how speech recognition or pronunciation scoring works, state how generated errors are corrected, or establish whether access is free, subscription-only or available in every course. There is also no independent evidence that the tutor improves fluency or matches a human teacher.
Rank #3
For an AI language feature, those unknowns matter. Recognition can vary with accent, microphone quality and background noise; an incorrect correction or unnatural phrase can create false confidence. A polished conversation interface is not, by itself, evidence of instructional accuracy.
Activity is not the same as durable learning
Ten million completions would indicate substantial usage if the company’s count is accurate. It does not establish:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- seven-, 30- or 90-day cohort retention;
- average lessons per active learner or the share of users returning weekly;
- free-to-paid conversion, churn or renewal rates;
- the quality or difficulty of completed lessons;
- measured gains in vocabulary, grammar, speaking or listening;
- growth from one month to the next.
The same caution applies to the 4.8-star rating. Reviews can signal satisfaction with design or convenience, but they are not a controlled test of language outcomes. The available public sources do not independently verify Airlearn’s lesson count, MAU, revenue, retention or educational effectiveness.

How Airlearn compares with the alternatives
| Need | Likely fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Short, structured mobile practice with explanations | Airlearn | Course depth, tutor capability and paywall limits may vary by language and country. |
| Streaks, leagues and a highly gamified habit loop | Duolingo | Less emphasis on Airlearn’s explanation-first positioning. |
| Expert-created, traditional course sequences | Babbel | Less focused on an AI conversation experience. |
| Audio-first speaking practice | Pimsleur | Primarily audio rather than a broad interactive app workflow. |
| Live, personalized correction | Preply or italki | Requires scheduling and paying a human tutor; not an app-only experience. |
| Pronunciation-focused English work | ELSA Speak | Narrower objective than a general language course. |
| Spaced-repetition review | Anki | Learner must usually source or create the content. |
These products are not interchangeable. A traveler wanting basic phrases, an advanced learner preparing for an exam and a professional needing nuanced correction have different requirements.

Check the commercial terms before subscribing
Airlearn’s terms say some lessons or features are free while others require a subscription. Prices, trials and feature limits should be checked in the local Apple or Google storefront because the available evidence does not establish a current universal price. Subscriptions may auto-renew; Airlearn generally does not issue refunds directly, with Apple or Google handling store refunds under their policies.
The same terms state that United States and United Kingdom users can register from age 13, subject to parental-permission requirements for minors. Families should also review the privacy policy before allowing a child to use the service.

Bottom line on Airlearn’s momentum
Airlearn has credible signs of early traction: a company-reported 10 million lessons in 30 days, more than 2 million claimed users, distribution across 150-plus countries and a founder-reported 300,000-plus monthly active users. Those figures support describing the app as rapidly growing and heavily used.
They do not yet support calling Airlearn a proven durable leader. Until the company publishes clearer lesson definitions and independent retention, conversion and learning-outcome evidence, the most accurate verdict is early momentum with important measurement gaps.
