Affiliate World Dubai 2024 was a two-day performance-marketing conference held February 28–29 at Dubai World Trade Centre—not at the Burj Khalifa. Affiliate World Conferences brought affiliates, advertisers, networks, traffic providers and marketing technology companies together for talks, an exhibitor marketplace and networking. The “billion-dollar clicks” idea captures the industry’s scale and ambition, but the available event figures do not show that the conference generated a billion dollars in clicks, sales or profit.

What Affiliate World Dubai 2024 was

Organized by Affiliate World Conferences, the event took place in Sheikh Saeed Halls 1–3 at Dubai World Trade Centre on February 28–29, 2024. It combined conference sessions with an exhibition floor, scheduled and informal networking, and evening events. The venue and dates are listed by Dubai World Trade Centre.

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based arrangement: a publisher or affiliate promotes a merchant’s product or service and may earn a commission for a qualifying sale, lead or other action. The wider event served businesses around that transaction, not just individual affiliates:

  • Affiliates and publishers promote offers through websites, email, social media or paid advertising.
  • Advertisers and merchants sell products or services and recruit partners to generate customers or leads.
  • Affiliate networks connect advertisers with publishers, record qualifying actions and administer commissions.
  • Traffic sources sell or distribute advertising opportunities, such as search, social or native placements.
  • Technology vendors provide tracking, attribution, fraud prevention, creative or optimization tools.
  • Agencies and service providers manage campaigns or supply specialist marketing services.

These participants may all talk about “performance,” but they do not necessarily mean the same thing by a click, conversion or successful campaign. For a merchant, a profitable customer may matter most; for a publisher, the commission earned per visit; for a traffic provider, the quality and volume of inventory.

How large was the event?

Affiliate World Conferences reported the following post-event totals for Dubai 2024. They are organizer-reported figures, not an independent audit; the networking counts describe activity on the event platform, not confirmed business deals.

Measure Organizer-reported figure
Attendees About 6,232
Companies represented About 2,597
Countries represented 99
Virtual handshakes 3,345
Networking messages 3,792,680

The totals were published in Affiliate World Conferences’ post-event update. A separate page’s broader annual statistics for the Affiliate World ecosystem should not be mistaken for this edition’s headcount.

What was on the agenda?

The program joined platform-specific acquisition tactics with broader questions about creative, measurement and growth. Affiverse reported more than 35 speeches, panels and Q&As; the official event guide shows the range of sessions.

Social and paid acquisition

Sessions covered TikTok, Meta advertising, Google Ads and native advertising. Mirella Crespi’s guide-listed session focused on TikTok creative strategy; Amin Siala was listed for Google Ads; and Nadim Kuttab for native advertising. For attendees buying traffic, the practical questions behind such subjects are how to identify a suitable audience, test creative, measure downstream conversions and keep acquisition costs within the offer’s economics.

Search, creative and ecommerce growth

SEO and ecommerce strategy sat alongside paid media. The guide listed Kris Sugatan on scaling ecommerce startups to $1 million per month and sessions touching creative strategy and return on ad spend. A session description is not evidence that every attendee—or even a typical business—can reproduce a speaker’s results: outcomes depend on the product, market, spend, team, measurement and time period.

Automation and performance measurement

AI and automation were also part of the conversation. Marisha Lakhiani’s guide-listed session addressed using AI and automation to improve ROAS. Dennis Yu’s session description referred to experience spending more than $1 billion on Meta and Google Ads. Those are descriptions and claims presented in the guide, not independently verified benchmarks or promises of results.

Why the marketplace could matter more than the stage

For an experienced operator, the exhibition floor and prearranged meetings may be more commercially useful than a session. An affiliate can compare offers and negotiate commission terms; a merchant can meet potential publishers; a media buyer can investigate traffic sources; and a business can assess tracking or optimization vendors. Companies associated with event materials included Voluum, Taboola, MGID, AdMaven, ExoClick, Creative Clicks, MaxWeb, Appshop and Vatan Platform. Exhibitor presence indicates participation, not endorsement, product superiority or regulatory approval.

Networking was deliberately built into the format. The official guide described a first-timers’ meetup capped at the first 200 people to RSVP, along with happy hours and opening and closing parties. Affiverse’s post-event account also described rooftop, party and informal networking activity. These settings can make introductions easier, but a handshake or message is not a qualified lead, signed contract or profitable partnership.

Dubai’s position between Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia made it a practical meeting point for an international audience. The city’s skyline and nightlife also gave the conference a distinctive backdrop. That context helps explain the Burj Khalifa imagery; it does not establish that the city itself caused commercial success.

What “billion-dollar clicks” says—and what it does not

A click is a visit, not a sale. Even a sale is not necessarily profit. A campaign can buy inexpensive clicks that rarely convert, or pay more for qualified traffic that produces valuable customers. Gross revenue also leaves out the costs and reversals that determine what a business actually keeps.

For an affiliate or advertiser, a more useful starting calculation is:

Profit = affiliate commissions + other attributed revenue − media spend − tracking and software costs − creative and agency costs − payment fees − refunds and chargebacks − taxes and compliance costs.

Common campaign measures answer different questions:

Metric Calculation What it indicates
CTR Clicks ÷ impressions How often an impression produces a click
Conversion rate Conversions ÷ clicks How often clicks produce the defined action
EPC Affiliate revenue ÷ clicks Revenue earned per click under the chosen reporting basis
ROAS Attributed revenue ÷ ad spend Revenue credited to advertising relative to media cost; not net profit
ROI Net profit ÷ total investment Return after costs included in the investment calculation

For example, suppose a hypothetical campaign spends $10,000 and receives $14,000 in attributed revenue. Its ROAS is 1.4. If commissions or product costs, software, creative, payment fees and refunds total another $5,000, the campaign has a $1,000 loss before any costs not included in that estimate. The revenue-to-ad-spend ratio alone would conceal that outcome.

Attribution makes the numbers harder still. A customer may see an ad, return through a search result, use a coupon code or convert on another device. Last-click, view-through and coupon-code methods can credit different partners; browser privacy settings, ad blockers, server-to-server postbacks, duplicate conversions and reporting delays can also affect records. When partners disagree about who drove a sale, the attribution rules and offer terms can matter more than the raw click count.

That is why “billion-dollar clicks” works as a metaphor for an industry built around large-scale traffic and monetization—not as a verified financial result of this conference. A speaker’s spending, revenue, ROAS or growth claim needs its own context: time period, geography, vertical, attribution method, gross-versus-net basis, and treatment of refunds and chargebacks.

Who was most likely to benefit?

  • Operating affiliates and media buyers could compare offers, traffic sources and campaign tools, and meet potential partners. Their value depended on having campaigns, budgets or specific deal requirements to discuss.
  • Ecommerce brands and advertisers could recruit publishers, agencies or traffic partners and learn how other operators approached acquisition and creative.
  • Networks and traffic providers could build publisher and advertiser relationships and explain their inventory or offer terms directly.
  • Agencies and software vendors could meet prospective clients and demonstrate services or products. Attendance alone does not prove a tool will suit a buyer’s needs.
  • Beginners could gain exposure to the industry and meet potential collaborators, but a large, sales-oriented event can be difficult to navigate without a defined niche, offer, budget or plan.

What the event could not guarantee

A conference cannot guarantee access to a profitable offer, suitable traffic, a signed partnership or positive returns. Nor does a tracking platform fix weak creative, poor offer economics, invalid traffic or a campaign that violates platform rules. Attendees evaluating offers or tactics should check the terms and applicable rules rather than infer approval from a speaker’s advice or an exhibitor’s presence.

  • Verify restrictions on traffic sources, brand bidding, incentives, claims and landing pages before promoting an offer.
  • Be especially careful with health, finance, gambling and investment claims; misleading advertorials and deceptive redirects can create legal, platform and partner risk.
  • Understand consent and data-protection obligations for the markets and data involved, and how conversion tracking is implemented.
  • Ask how invalid leads, fraud, chargebacks, refunds and disputed attribution are handled, and when reporting becomes final.
  • Get commission rates, caps, qualification rules and payment terms in writing rather than relying on informal assurances.

Was attending worth the cost?

The sensible test is expected value, not the spectacle of the venue. Estimate the probability of a useful deal and its potential first-year gross profit, then add the value of qualified leads and knowledge you can implement. Subtract the ticket, flights, hotel, local transport, meals and entertainment, plus the value of time away from your business. This is a decision model, not a guarantee that forecast value will materialize.

Attendance is more compelling if you already run campaigns, know which geography or vertical you want to pursue, and can arrange meetings in advance. It is a weaker bet if you expect the event to hand you a turnkey business, have no offer or audience to bring, or cannot identify how you will judge results afterward.

Before attending a similar event, set targets that can be checked after it:

  • Prebooked meetings with relevant advertisers, networks, publishers or vendors.
  • Qualified contacts and specific offer or payout terms to investigate.
  • Vendor demonstrations tied to a defined operational need.
  • Follow-ups completed within seven days.
  • Leads, revenue or cost savings traceable to the event after 30, 60 and 90 days.

These targets distinguish useful access from activity that feels productive but does not progress a deal. Future editions have different schedules and logistics; Dubai 2024’s dates, venue and program should not be used as current travel or ticket information.
