Aeroméxico Rewards has two different point balances: spendable Rewards Points and Qualifying Points that count toward elite status. You can earn Rewards Points through eligible flights, cards, partners and transfers, then use them for flights and travel extras. The value of a redemption is not fixed: the points required and any cash charges depend on the itinerary, date, availability and current terms.
How Aeroméxico Rewards points work
The program separates its spendable currency from its status currency. Aeroméxico’s program overview describes the two balances and their uses:
| Balance | What it does | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Aeroméxico Rewards Points | Used to buy rewards, including eligible flights and travel extras. | Earned through eligible Aeroméxico purchases, cards, Aeroméxico Vacations and affiliated businesses. The overview says they do not expire. |
| Qualifying Points | Count toward attaining or maintaining a Rewards status level; they cannot be spent on rewards. | Earned through eligible Aeroméxico and affiliated SkyTeam flights. The qualification window runs January 1 through December 31 each year. The overview says these points do not expire, but qualification is measured within that annual window. |
Keep the balances distinct when planning: a large Rewards Points balance does not itself establish elite status, and Qualifying Points are not a second redemption balance.
How to earn Aeroméxico Rewards Points
Fly Aeroméxico and eligible partner airlines
Eligible flying can earn Rewards Points, Qualifying Points, or both depending on the flight and applicable rules. Grupo Aeroméxico’s 2025 Form 20-F describes earning or qualifying credit through Aeroméxico, Aeroméxico Connect, other SkyTeam airlines and codeshare airlines. Check the earning terms for the specific airline, fare and ticket before booking; partner flights are not a blanket guarantee of identical credit.

Use eligible cards and affiliated businesses
Aeroméxico lists its cards, Aeroméxico Vacations and affiliated businesses among Rewards Points earning channels. In its 2025 Form 20-F, filed April 30, 2026, Grupo Aeroméxico said Inbursa would replace Santander as the co-branded Mexican consumer credit and debit card partner starting June 1, 2026. The filing also identifies American Express as a co-branded card partner. This is dated company reporting, not a guarantee of current card availability or terms. For Mexican applicants, verify live issuer offerings, fees, earning rates, eligibility and geography before applying; do not assume older Santander products remain the current option.
Transfer eligible bank or store points
Aeroméxico’s accumulation page describes transfers from participating bank or department-store points. It also describes no-cost transfers between linked family-group accounts. These are different options: confirm participating programs, transfer ratios, eligibility and restrictions before moving points, since the page does not establish one universal ratio for every source.

Earn through travel and retail partners
The company’s 2025 Form 20-F describes partner categories including hotels, rental cars and retailers, and reports alliances with more than 55 Mexican retail and service companies at the time of that filing. That number and partner availability are dated corporate reporting, not a live directory.
One specific example is Hertz. Aeroméxico’s Hertz partner terms page lists 600 points for a one-day rental, 800 for two days and 1,000 for three or more days. It also lists partner bonuses for Gold, Platinum and Titanium members. Treat those figures as the terms shown on that page, not a promise that every booking qualifies: confirm current participation, the eligible booking path and rental conditions before reserving.

What you can redeem points for
Aeroméxico lists flights and travel extras such as checked baggage, seat selection and Premier-cabin upgrades as Rewards Points uses. The company’s filing also describes redemptions on Aeroméxico, Aeroméxico Connect, other SkyTeam member airlines, codeshare flights and certain hotels. These are broad categories; current eligibility and available inventory must be checked in the member account.
Aeroméxico’s promotions page may show sample route prices. Those are offers, not a permanent award chart or a fixed cash value for a point. Check the price and availability for your own dates and itinerary.

How to decide whether a redemption is worthwhile
- Price the exact option. Check the points required and cash charges for the same itinerary or travel extra you would otherwise buy.
- Compare with the cash alternative. Use the cash price of that same eligible flight, bag, seat or upgrade—not a different route or a headline fare that does not meet your needs.
- Review the checkout conditions. Account for dates, inventory, flexibility, restrictions and any additional charges shown before confirming.
- Consider what else the points could do. If another redemption better suits your plans, compare the options rather than treating a displayed promotional price as the program’s standard value.
This method is more useful than assigning every point a fixed peso or cash value: award prices and availability vary by itinerary, date, inventory, market and current terms.

Qualifying Points are relevant if you fly enough to pursue benefits, rather than because you want to buy a reward. The official Mexican status pages publish selected thresholds and benefits:

Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
| Level | Published threshold | Examples of listed benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | 25,000 Qualifying Aeroméxico Rewards Points from Aeroméxico, Delta and/or SkyTeam flying in the January 1–December 31 qualification year. | Extra earning, first checked bag, seat selection and possible cabin upgrades. |
| Platinum | 80,000 qualifying points, according to the Mexican Platinum page. | Additional earning, first checked bag, seat selection, upgrades, lounge access, airport services, priority assistance, Friends & Family and SkyTeam Elite Plus. |
These examples do not establish a complete current status ladder or every benefit condition. Check the relevant Silver and Mexican Platinum pages for current rules. Grupo Aeroméxico’s 2025 filing lists Classic, Gold, Platinum and Titanium, but predates the Silver page; do not use that older list to infer that Silver is unavailable or to fill in unpublished thresholds.
What Mexican-market context to keep in mind
Card and retail-partner options can be market-specific. The Inbursa change described in the company’s 2025 Form 20-F concerns the co-branded Mexican consumer credit and debit card partnership; it does not establish that the same card products are available outside Mexico. The filing reported approximately 13.9 million program members as of December 31, 2025. That is a dated company-reported membership figure, not a measure of current active members.
Check current terms before transferring or booking
Points earning, partner participation, card products, redemption prices, inventory, promotions and status benefits can change. Use Aeroméxico’s account and current program pages to confirm the rules that apply to the specific transaction before transferring points, booking travel or applying for a card.
