Led by SYN Ventures, the round brought the company’s total funding to $83 million. Adlumin combines security software with managed detection and response, and sells through managed service providers (MSPs) and managed security service providers (MSSPs)—an approach aimed at organizations that may not have a large in-house security team.
Who funded Adlumin’s $70 million round?
SYN Ventures led the Series B. First In Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, and BankTech Ventures also participated. The October 2023 financing brought Adlumin’s total raised to $83 million, according to SecurityWeek’s financing report.
What does Adlumin do?
Adlumin offers a security operations platform and managed detection and response (MDR). Its reported platform capabilities include security information and event management (SIEM), vulnerability scanning, threat intelligence, user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA), threat hunting, honeypots, automated incident response and forensics, darknet exposure monitoring, and compliance reporting and monitoring. CRN’s coverage of the expansion plan describes the company’s focus on delivering these services to smaller organizations.
MDR adds human support to the technology: Adlumin described its service as providing 24×7 human insights, threat hunting, and support. That makes it more than a SIEM vendor, though SIEM is one part of its broader platform. The financing announcement did not establish detailed service-level terms, response guarantees, or how each capability is packaged.

How Adlumin serves small and midmarket organizations
The company’s strategy addresses a practical constraint: smaller organizations may struggle to hire and retain cybersecurity specialists. Adlumin said its platform was “specifically built to enhance collaboration with service providers who can deliver the type of expert support that is difficult for organizations to hire and retain on their own.”
Adlumin works with MSPs and MSSPs, which can use the platform to serve their own customers. The company has cited smaller law firms, banks and other financial-services firms, schools, manufacturers, and healthcare providers as potential customers. It has positioned simplified pricing and channel-first distribution as ways to make security services accessible to organizations often overlooked by larger vendors. Public pricing details were not included in the 2023 financing coverage.

CEO and co-founder Robert Johnston said the cybersecurity skills gap makes hiring expensive and challenging for small and mid-sized organizations competing with large businesses and government for talent. Partner James Range, CEO of White Rock Cybersecurity, described the solution as a good fit for small to midmarket companies in comments reported by CRN.

The financing was intended to support expansion of Adlumin’s cybersecurity offering; it does not, by itself, establish the company’s current financial position, customer outcomes, or how its platform compares on price and effectiveness with alternatives. For a buyer assessing Adlumin or another vendor, the relevant questions include the scope of human monitoring and response, coverage across SIEM, threat hunting, vulnerability management, and compliance, deployment and pricing terms, and the provider’s support for an MSP or MSSP relationship.

Adlumin later announced ransomware and exfiltration prevention capabilities, along with a free exfiltration-simulation tool, in June 2024. Those were subsequent product developments, not features identified as part of the October 2023 funding announcement; the company’s announcement is available at Adlumin’s June 2024 release.
