A customer-experience (CX) ecosystem combines a core service platform with specialized technology partners. Avaya argues that this model can add AI, orchestration, analytics and journey-management capabilities without requiring an organization to replace every customer-service system at once. Its February 27, 2025 article presents that position as a vendor strategy, not as independent proof that every integration will be simple or deliver better results.
What a CX ecosystem is
In an ecosystem model, the main CX platform provides the underlying infrastructure while partners contribute focused capabilities. Those capabilities might include AI-powered virtual agents, agent assistance, workflow automation, analytics or customer-journey tools.
Eric Rossman, Avaya’s global vice president of alliances, partners and developers, describes the approach this way: “A strong ecosystem complements Avaya’s platform, so businesses can integrate the best capabilities into a rock-solid infrastructure.” The statement appears in Avaya’s February 27, 2025 article and reflects Avaya’s own positioning.
How the model can support modernization
Add capabilities without a single, all-at-once replacement
Many organizations operate contact-center, CRM and custom systems that cannot be retired simultaneously. Avaya says partners can layer enhancements such as AI-powered virtual agents and automation onto existing investments. That can create a staged modernization path, although whether a particular legacy system can remain in service depends on its interfaces, data model, security controls and the proposed integration.

Choose an on-premises, cloud or hybrid path
Avaya presents its platform as supporting on-premises, cloud and hybrid deployment options. In practical terms, an enterprise can evaluate which workloads should move first, which should remain on premises for now, and where a hybrid arrangement is operationally necessary. The available path, migration effort and long-term cost still require a system-specific assessment.
Use open systems and APIs
Open interfaces and APIs are intended to connect partner capabilities to the core platform. Avaya also emphasizes partner compliance testing. Openness can reduce dependence on a single supplier, but it does not eliminate integration work: teams still need to map data, manage identity and permissions, test failure handling, monitor performance and assign responsibility for support.
Capabilities to examine before selecting partners
| Evaluation area | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Deployment path | Does the offering support the required on-premises, cloud or hybrid architecture, and can workloads transition in stages? |
| Integration approach | Which APIs, data connectors and event interfaces are available? What partner testing or certification has been completed? |
| Continuity | Which existing systems, customizations and investments can remain, and what must be replaced or reworked? |
| Capability coverage | Does the integration provide the specific virtual-agent, agent-assistance, automation, analytics or journey function the business needs? |
| Evidence | Which results are independently verified, and which are vendor claims, demonstrations or roadmap statements? |
Avaya’s stated ecosystem examples
Verint integration
Avaya identifies Verint as a long-standing partner and describes Verint’s Open Platform integration with Avaya Infinity. Avaya says the integration provides access to more than fifty AI-powered virtual agents. That count and the integration description are Avaya-reported claims; the available agents, licensing, regional availability and implementation requirements should be confirmed directly for a specific deployment.
The broader marketplace analogy
A separate HubSpot solutions marketplace result illustrates how CRM ecosystems can list AI-powered CRM, sales and field-service management offerings. It is an adjacent example of marketplace breadth, not evidence of Avaya integration, shared availability or equivalent functionality.

A practical decision process
- Define the service problem. Specify whether the priority is containment, agent productivity, workflow automation, analytics, journey visibility or another measurable need.
- Inventory what already works. Document contact-center software, CRM, identity systems, data stores, custom applications, contracts and operational dependencies.
- Set deployment constraints. Decide which workloads may use public cloud, which require on-premises controls and whether a hybrid transition is acceptable.
- Validate interfaces and certification. Review API limits, authentication, data residency, event handling, version compatibility and any partner compliance testing.
- Run a bounded pilot. Test a representative workflow, including escalation to a human, outage behavior, data quality, security logging and support ownership.
- Measure outcomes independently. Establish baseline measures such as containment, transfer, handling time, resolution, quality and customer effort; do not treat the number of partners or AI agents as proof of performance.
- Plan exit and change management. Record portability, contract terms, rollback steps, training, monitoring and who maintains integrations after launch.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
Avaya’s article reports “hundreds” of partners and “more than fifty” AI-powered virtual agents. These are vendor-reported quantities from 2025, not independently verified market statistics or performance benchmarks. The available material does not establish that an ecosystem strategy is cheaper, faster or more effective than a single-vendor implementation in every organization.
The defensible conclusion is narrower: a platform-plus-partners approach can give enterprises more ways to add selected CX capabilities and choose a staged deployment path. Success depends on the particular systems, controls, commercial terms and operating discipline involved.
