It added $6,529,347 that day. The milestone was crossing $300 million in the U.S. and Canada—not reaching $300 million worldwide.
How much did A Minecraft Movie make after 14 days?
Box Office Mojo’s domestic daily listing records a cumulative $303,326,515 through April 17, 2025. The day’s gross was $6,529,347. These are two different measures: the first is the movie’s domestic total to date; the second is what it earned on day 14 alone. Box Office Mojo’s daily listing labels April 17 as day 14.
The count reflects the North American theatrical run beginning April 4 and counts through April 17 inclusive. The film’s official site gives April 4, 2025, as its North American theatrical and IMAX release date, while international release began April 2. Those dates matter: “14 days” refers to the domestic day count, not the number of days since the earliest release anywhere. The official film site identifies the release timing and the film as a live-action adaptation of Minecraft.
How did the domestic total reach that milestone?
The database figures show a rapid start followed by continued earnings into the second week:

The second-weekend daily entries add to $78,502,345; The Numbers lists a slightly different second-weekend figure, $78,503,124, alongside the same $278,864,857 cumulative domestic total. For the exact day-14 amount, the figures above follow Box Office Mojo’s daily listing. The Numbers’ title page provides its separate weekly listing.
Was $303.3 million the movie’s worldwide total?
No. The $303,326,515 figure is domestic—meaning the U.S. and Canada—not worldwide. It should not be compared directly with an international or global total.

For opening-weekend context, the Associated Press reported studio estimates of $157 million in the U.S. and Canada and $144 million internationally, for an estimated $301 million worldwide debut. These were rounded estimates reported at the time of opening; they are not the later April 17 domestic cumulative figure. AP also reported that the film opened in 4,263 domestic locations and on 36,000 international screens. The Associated Press opening-weekend report describes those estimates and figures.
How did its opening compare with other video-game movies?
In its April 2025 opening-weekend report, AP said A Minecraft Movie set the video-game adaptation opening record then held by The Super Mario Bros. Movie, whose domestic opening was $146 million. That is a historical comparison attributed to AP’s report at the time; it should not be read as a claim about the current ranking of video-game adaptations.

What the box-office milestone does—and does not—say
A $300 million domestic gross is a measure of ticket sales, not a measure of profit. Box Office Mojo and The Numbers list the production budget as $150 million, but that figure covers production, not marketing or other costs. Gross revenue and production budget alone do not establish whether a film was profitable.
The box-office record also does not identify how much any individual theater, distributor, or studio ultimately retained. It is useful to keep the market, time period, and type of number attached: day-14 domestic gross is not cumulative domestic gross, opening-weekend estimates are not later database totals, and neither is a worldwide total.
