What to confirm before accepting a POS or SmartSpeaker
Ask PhonePe or your onboarding representative to provide the complete charges for your account before activation. Save the offer and fee schedule, then check that the amounts match what appears in the Business app and settlement reports.
- One-time setup fee, deposit and applicable taxes.
- Recurring rental and the date billing begins.
- MDR or processing charges by payment type, including UPI, debit and credit cards, and wallets where relevant.
- Any waiver: how long it lasts, what conditions apply, and what happens when those conditions are not met.
- Replacement, repair, cancellation and device-return terms.
- Settlement timing and any deductions shown in reports.
The merchant agreement states settlement is within T+1 working day, where T is the transaction date, unless otherwise agreed. Whether it is good value depends on the merchant’s actual fee schedule, how customers pay, and whether the hardware features are useful in the shop.
