But the cheapest station and price depend on the date and location, so check FuelWatch’s actual listing rather than relying on a weekday rule.
Does filling up on Tuesday save more than filling up on Wednesday?
FuelWatch’s current consumer guidance describes a Wednesday price rise for Perth and Mandurah ULP, followed by decreases over the next six days. That does not establish that Tuesday is always cheaper than Wednesday, nor does it support a $1,000 saving from choosing Tuesday. A WA Consumer Protection announcement published on 6 October 2026 said Perth’s average ULP price was due to increase by 14.2 cents per litre from 6am Wednesday, 7 October, to 244.3 cents per litre. It also cited a 43-cent-per-litre spread between the cheapest and most expensive sites, potentially worth $25 on a 60-litre tank. How to calculate a saving for your own fill
For one fill, multiply the price difference in cents per litre by the litres you buy, then divide by 100 to get dollars. For example, FuelWatch’s stated maximum example of 30 cents per litre works out to $18 for 60 litres. Your actual result depends on the prices available at the stations and time you compare.
To assess an annual claim, make the assumptions explicit: the per-fill price difference, litres purchased each time, and number of fills in the year. Then compare the same fuel grade and relevant dates. A per-fill example cannot establish that a typical driver will save a particular annual amount; the supplied official examples do not demonstrate $1,000 from changing the day of a fill.

How to check tomorrow’s Perth fuel prices on FuelWatch
- Open FuelWatch and search by suburb or postcode, or use its location feature.
- Choose the correct fuel grade and compare nearby stations’ listed prices for the date you plan to fill.
- Check tomorrow’s prices after 2:30pm. Retailers notify their next-day prices by 2pm, and FuelWatch publishes them from 2:30pm.
- Plan around the price’s effective period: the notified price takes effect at 6am and is locked for 24 hours.
FuelWatch is a free Western Australian Government service, available on its website, through personalised email, and by phone. Its listed prices are standard cash prices; they exclude discounts such as supermarket offers and charges such as credit-card fees. Compare the final price you can actually get, and account for any extra driving to a cheaper station. A lower pump price may not be a net saving if the detour costs more than the difference.
