Sotheby’s published an estimate of $30,000–$60,000, but its accessible listing does not disclose a verified final sale price.
Which Panerai did Stallone wear in The Expendables 2?
Sotheby’s identified the watch in Stallone’s collection as a Panerai Reference PAM00382 Luminor Submersible 1950. Its catalogue described this specific example as owned and screen worn by Stallone in the 2012 film. Specifications and included items
The catalogue described a 47 mm bronze-and-titanium case, green dial, automatic P.9000 calibre with 28 jewels, original strap, and titanium Panerai buckle. Sotheby’s listed the watch without a box or papers. The lot also included an additional special strap with two metal skulls, a brass fishtail buckle with a metal skull, two personally signed The Expendables 2 posters, an original movie still featuring Stallone and the watch, and a handwritten note signed by Stallone.
Did the watch sell, and for how much?
Sotheby’s sale closed on June 5, 2024. Its published estimate for lot 47 was $30,000–$60,000; that range is an estimate, not a confirmed hammer price or final amount paid. Sotheby’s accessible listing withholds the realized price behind a login prompt, so a final figure cannot be verified from the public lot details. Stallone’s official website also announced the June 5 sale and reported that eleven watches from his personal collection were being offered, including four Panerai pieces. Why is this PAM382 called the Bronzo?
Sotheby’s catalogue says Panerai introduced the PAM382 in 2011 as a limited edition of 1,000 and describes it as the brand’s first sports watch crafted entirely from bronze. The auctioned example is numbered N0000/1000; Sotheby’s says that numbering suggests it could be the first example in the series. The catalogue also says Stallone wore the watch throughout filming and that several other actors in the movie wore the same model. These are catalogue statements about the lot and film, rather than a claim that every on-screen watch was Stallone’s personal example.
Is the other Expendables 2 watch listing the same watch?
No. Propstore separately listed a Barney Ross watch prop from the film. Its description says the prop was designed to resemble a Panerai Luminor and describes a gold-color stainless-steel face, green luminous markers, and brown leather straps. Propstore noted loose strap screws and said functionality was unknown. That closed prop listing is distinct from Sotheby’s PAM00382 described as Stallone’s personal, screen-worn watch.
