Placer.ai raised an additional $75 million in a financing reported in August 2024. TechCrunch said the deal valued the company at $1.45 billion; other reports rounded that figure to $1.5 billion. Those are two ways of reporting the same financing, not separate rounds.
How much did Placer.ai raise, and what was it worth?
The financing was $75 million. TechCrunch reported on August 5, 2024, that Placer.ai had closed the full amount and that its CEO and CFO confirmed a $1.45 billion valuation. CTech and financing counsel Sidley Austin reported the valuation as $1.5 billion, a rounded figure. The reports describe the same additional financing.
TechCrunch said the $1.45 billion valuation was nearly 50% above the $1 billion valuation associated with Placer.ai’s $100 million Series C. The company did not disclose the specific participants in the 2024 financing, beyond saying existing backers took part.

What does Placer.ai do?
Placer.ai sells business-to-business location analytics and market research software. Its platform uses anonymized location data sourced from third-party apps, combined with AI, to help organizations understand activity around physical places. TechCrunch described customers and use cases across retail, events and entertainment, consumer packaged goods, real estate, financial services and healthcare.
Co-founder and CEO Noam Ben-Zvi told TechCrunch that customers share a stake in the physical world and want a “holistic one-stop-shop platform for market research.” The financing was therefore a funding story about enterprise data and software, rather than a consumer-product launch.
What growth figures did the company report?
In the August 2024 TechCrunch report, Ben-Zvi said Placer.ai had crossed a $100 million annual revenue run rate in February 2024 and had more than 4,300 customers at the time of the article. These were company-reported figures, not independently audited financial results. CFO Dean Neese said the financing followed inbound investor interest, with proceeds intended for business development and additional platform features and datasets.

No. It describes the valuation reported for the 2024 financing; it should not be treated as a confirmed current valuation. In January 2025, CTech reported that Placer.ai laid off about 150 employees—approximately 18% of a then-reported 850-person workforce—as it prioritized profitability and a more focused strategy. The company said it would continue investing in long-term growth. Those reported operating changes do not alter the terms reported for the 2024 financing.
A TrueUp company profile lists a $0.7 billion estimate attributed to Caplight and dated August 29, 2026, describing it as 54% below the last-round valuation. That is a third-party secondary-market estimate, not a company-confirmed valuation or evidence of a new financing. The available reporting does not establish that Placer.ai has announced a later primary financing or confirmed a new valuation.
